Riad Alwane was extremely clean. I enjoyed the swimming pool after seeing sites and walking all day. Staff was outstanding, friendlyand making sure I had a taxi at a reasonable price. The rooftop terrace was lovely. Really appreciated hot shower water right away! Also pool temperature was perfect.
Cons: The description I read before booking said good location and downtown. It is on the north end of the medina. There didn't seem to be any restaurants close by. Surroundings outside of the riad felt somewhat sketchy. Although I have found Morocco to be very safe. I think it makes a difference when you're a solo female traveler.

Riad Alwane was a calm and welcoming retreat. The staff were kind, the owner was warm and helpful, and breakfast each morning was fresh and homemade. It became a joy to come back after a day out, share our experiences with the staff, and unwind in the peaceful courtyard. We even spent some quiet time watching tennis with the owner, which made it all feel even more personal. The neighbourhood might seem a bit intimidating at first—narrow alleys, locals hanging around—but it’s just everyday life. We never felt unsafe, and it quickly became part of the charm.

Our stay at Riad Alwane was a journey into authentic Marrakech living — complete with warm, attentive service and a sense of being part of a local family. Charming and well-kept riad with beautiful traditional courtyard, a pool and a restful rooftop terrace. Our Rooms were clean, spacious, and featured lovely Moroccan décor. Generous and tasty breakfast made every morning - fresh juice and homemade jam. Big thank you for all your support. A heartfelt, local-feel riad with a friendly staff; worth the slight inconvenience of its hidden-away location. Choose Riad Alwane if you crave authenticity and don’t mind a bit of adventure to reach it. Highly recommended.

What a super find! Yes, it’s a bit ‘out of the main square’ but you get to experience the real Marrakesh and see locals. The riad workers were lovely, always polite and very helpful. Very clean room and breakfast was super. For the price, I think it was fabulous value and can not recommend them enough. I understand what others are saying about it being in a location that a taxi can not squeeze down to but the staff came to meet us and took our bags to our room, I couldn’t have been happier. The riad is situated about 10-15 minutes walk from Ben Yousef and has lots of different shops along the way to keep you entertained.
Cons: Slightly further out of town than some may like

The property is in the middle of the historical medina of Marrakesh, it is a 15-20min walk from the souls, and also to the Jardin Majorelle. It is well located, and access is fairly straightforward with google maps. The room is spacious and well suited for a family of four, with a large private bathroom. The breakfast offer is great, you get a large selection of foods for a decent price. The property is not a luxurious hotel, but is definitely a historical and real experience of living in a Riad. It is well kept and cleaned daily. The staff are friendly and helpful for any queries. Arabic is easier to communicate but English, French is good too.
Cons: The access to the property is a bit difficult the first few times as a taxi cannot drop you directly at the doors due to the small size of the alleys. If you use google maps, and look at the street signs for Riad Alwane (yellow sign) then you can find your way, just be careful not to miss a turn.

The Riad itself was fantastic. It's beautiful on the inside. The beds were very comfy (by Morocco standards vs. the US) and the bathtub was a welcome perk. The people were friendly and helped us navigate an airport transfer for a reasonable price. It also had an indoor pool which was fantastic.
Cons: It's kind of hidden. Using the maps app will not get you there. It's also in the "old" city, so we had to walk quite a distance and struggled to find the Riad. However, once we found it, everything was great.

We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Alwane! A big shout-out to Nordin, Aasim, and the rest of the staff for being so welcoming and helpful at all times. Also, a huge thanks to their friend Rashid for driving us wherever we needed to go without any issues. Without these amazing people, our trip would have been a bit more challenging, as the streets can be quite confusing. The only issue I encountered was with the payment—Booking.com either didn’t process it or there was an issue, so I had to pay in cash when I thought it was already covered. Overall, our stay at Riad Alwane was great, and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family!

Lovely quiet Riad near the medina. Staff were very helpful planning our next travel destination transport with us and booking it. They even made us a very early breakfast to accommodate our early travel plans. Breakfast was great.
Cons: Location is tricky but Google maps will get you there. Definitely look for landmarks when out to help get you back. Fitted bedsheet was like sleeping on sandpaper - so many worn bobbles. I am confident the staff would have changed these if asked but when it's late and you are tired you just do not want nor need the hassle. Bedsheets in friends room were reportedly comfortable.

It was cosy, room was clean and the staff were excellent. Such a friendly vibe off the place. The breakfast was lovely and had great variety.
Cons: The location seemed a bit out of the way. 25 minute walk walk from most sights. Do NOT take directional advice from anyone that you did not ask for, we were harassed and threatened twice within the first two days by the same two young lads (politely tell the people to F off and do not offer your money). That being said the location felt safer and safer as the days went on. Beware the morning chirps of the birds! And maybe the short warm water duration in the shower :)

The courtyard was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The riad is hard to find initially but once you have been there you will start to adore the narrow roads leading up to it.
Cons: They never seem to have any hot water at night. The door locks when you leave the hotel and they do not give you a key. We had to wait outside the door till someone opened the door for us which always felt like an imposition late at night and for someone who doesn’t know the place that well, the narrow roads may be scary to wait out at night.

The riad was very beautiful, peaceful and well-maintained. I like the fact that its secure and staff were very friendly. Driver from the airport called them around 12mn to pick me up at nearby stop since property is in the middle of the souk and taxis couldn’t get in that narrow road, I forgot the staff name but he was very nice and kind to pick me up at that area in the middle of the night. My card didn’t work for payment, I tried to withdraw from the machine the next day but couldn’t so Aziz took me to an ATM and helped. That was above and beyond in hospitality. Free breakfast was offered, coffee was really great. Rooftop patio is really nice considering the weather, could use a little tan.

A lovely Riad although we didn't realise that it is not accessible by car! Our taxi had to drop us at the closest point which was not far - but about a 5-10min walk through the medina (old town). A beautiful traditional riad and lovely roof terrace. We only spent one night here and arrived too late for dinner and left too early for breakfast! A good experience of the old town... and would have been even better if we had arrived in time for dinner or stayed late enough for breakfast!
Cons: I had messaged the property to say we would be arriving late and asked whether they could keep some food aside for us. When we arrived (approx 8pm) the kitchen was closed and there was no food available or anywhere we could buy anything in the vacinity. We settled for a large bottle of mineral water, and then had to leave in the morning (with tummies rumbling) to find our tour bus at 7am... (breakfast is only served at 8:30)!

The manager was friendly and welcoming.
Cons: The location is down some alleyways and the taxi was unable to take us to the hotel itself, therefore we were left to walk a good 5-10 minutes to the venue. The main issues were that, once outside we kept getting approached by locals, kids begging and running up to my partner trying to grab them, and then adults kept talking to us in quite an aggressive manner. We felt on edge and turned around and went back to the hotel rather than continuing for dinner. To highlight that they followed us for some time. Lastly was our room. It was on the ground floor next to the courtyard. This meant we were right next to where breakfast and dinner was served and the social area. We could hear everyone until about 1/2 am. Also, our door was stained glass, yes it was tinted but people could still see directly into our room and the bed - no privacy. Not even a curtain to pull across. We didn't feel safe in the area and didn't feel like we had any privacy, hardly a relaxing stay. We asked about being moved, but the manager had nothing free for two nights. So we stayed the night and then the next morning over breakfast (which was not included) booked somewhere else. The manager was nowhere to be found to further explain and to ask for a partial refund - only the cleaner was at the hotel, we explained that we didn't feel comfortable staying and were disappointed as it was not clear the room was ground floor next to the noisy social area and had no privacy.

1. The manager Aziz was pretty friendly and helpful. He helped us with maps and city information, book taxi, gave free water bottles , helped book desert safari at the last minute etc. 2. Not too fussed about money. e.g the card machine didnt seem to work when we checked in.. and I paid him cash after 2 days of check-in.
Cons: 1. Location is extremely poor. The Riad is in an alley so narrow that cars cant enter. We always had to walk some distance to enter the Riad. The locality is very very bad and scary actually. 2. Breakfast is not too great and very limited. I wanted an extra croissant and was told there arent any left. 3. Extra Cots in family room were pretty basic

A very nice riad and the staff were very friendly and excellent.
Cons: The riad is quite a way out of the main tourist area. It is a good 30 minute walk from the main square. The 'locals' often harassed me as I walked back to it at night. It didn't particularly bother me as a young male but I can imagine it being quite daunting for a female.

The Riad inside, particularly the courtyard and the Staff!
Cons: The location is awful for solo travelers! It s very hard to reach by tax and the area in general is too 'local' (not ideal for a lady coming back alone in the evening, let s say...)

Riad Alwane was fanstastic! By far the best breakfast in the whole trip! The staff was amazing, so attentive and thoughtfull! The rooms were great and the bathroom was spacious, clean and beautiful.
Cons: This isnt really a negative. The riad is located inside the medina but far away from all the comotion. The first time you arrive the location might be a bit daunting, but the longer you stay you'll aprecciate the peace and quiet!

Absolute pleasure from arrival yo departure. Great and helpful staff all day and evening (shout out to the evening manager Mr Noureddine who was an absolute star). Riad was cleaner than the 3* hotel I moved to the week after. Breakfast is served from 8 to 10 Im the type who doesnt book the same place twice, but I could actually consider a stay Riad Alwane again 🔥 Location is a 25 minutes walk from Jemaa El Fna, and the wifi is superb

Being a solo female traveler the staff made my stay one to remember for life. The way they made sure i stay safe outside, designated me with a taxi driver.
Cons: The rooms had no windows :-( but i hardly stayed in the room. There is a nice rooftop upstairs i got to do my work on the laptop in the sunshine. The location took time to work out but having a designated taxi driver helps to find your way back.

The hosts are so hospitable and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was superb, from welcoming us when we returned for the day, or preparing breakfast and dinner to accommodate our schedule, and bringing us tea in the evening. We had to leave early one morning before breakfast and they even prepared some food to-go for us! The dinners here are amazing and we highly recommend! Our favorite dish of the trip was prepared by the riad: the beef with figs!
Cons: As other travelers have posted, the riad is 25-minute walk from the Medina. Vehicles cannot fit down the road of the riad, but they will get you within a two-minute walk. The neighborhood looks a little sketchy, but we felt safe. The locals in that area sometimes offered to help us or hailed us as we walked by. There are a lot of children playing in the streets in this area, I think that's a good sign it's more on the safe side.

Cons: I recently booked a suite through Booking.com, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The suite, advertised with a private pool, lacked this amenity entirely. The bathroom was marred by a partially broken bathtub, malfunctioning shower, and non-functional air conditioning. In a week the stuff never to clean the room or to change bed sheets or towels. What's more disheartening is the misrepresentation of the facility's quality, labeled as "good" with supposedly excellent reviews. This misleading information has left me questioning the reliability of Booking.com as a tool for accurate bookings. Regrettably, this experience has led me to decide against using Booking.com in the future and discouraging others from doing so as well.

The breakfast everyday was fenomenal and we thought it was not included but it is and it's the best thing ever! It gives you the right food for an energetic day, all local. The room was big and it was cleaned every single day even if you get out of the room past 12pm. The terrace was great for some sunny reading after breakfast and the staff was incredible, even took copies of our flights home because the marrakesh airport doesn't accept digital ones.
Cons: The location is a bit hard to find even if you're assisting on google maps.

From the moment I made the reservation, they answered all my questions and tried to help me. They are extremely friendly and understanding. The room and general area were very clean.
Cons: The location is not bad, but we felt very uncomfortable some days when we were walking through the streets in the old Medina, because of the attitudes of the people on the road, but we did not have any serious problems.

Riad alwane will forever have a special place in my heart. First time being in Morocco and got to stay in this beautiful boutique riad. I’d say for the price you are paying you are getting your moneys worth, with a lovely sun top terrace to lay and down stairs with a pool that was too cool for us to go on but lovely for the atheistic. You have a yummy breakfast every morning with the sun shining down on you.
Cons: The location. It was quite hard to find once we first arrived. However our taxi driver located us to the right alley way. On google maps this won’t work so maybe ask the driver for help or contact riad. It is generally safe with the locals in the streets and is only a 15/20 minute walk to the souks. It’s a 20 minute walk away from main attraction (Ben youseff ) and atay cafe.

Breakfast at Riad Alwanee was “maginific” as the French would say, they had pancakes, jam, honey, mint tea/coffeee, bread, cup cakes, And the list goes on! The rooms have personality and so does the Riad.
Cons: Getting to the Location was a hassle, because I traveled alone I just paid the locals to take me to the Riad.

– Cleaned daily and thoroughly by three nice and respectful people – Quite beautiful on the inside, especially the court part – When we had a bad experience on our way to the riad, the manager was able to deescalate the situation
Cons: – The neighborhood is really poor, more so than the rest of the medina. Make sure to always get home during daylight hours or be prepared to get followed by (groups of) people that’ll try to provide little services or just beg for money directly, and intensely. – We could hear everything through the walls and the plexiglass of the winter garden. – When we paid the city tax and asked for a receipt, they would first make fun of it, then look through several drawers, and eventually scribble some sentences in arabic on a notepad. We later found out that it‘s quite common to not provide receipts in Morocco but I still feel like a request like that should be handled a lot more professionally

Cons: The location...what can i say its a maze to find, you have to google map it because it is really in the middle of the mazy medina! Cars cant drive to the entrance so you have to walk a while before finding it, there are yellow signs pointing the way that helped eventually! It cam be a bit worrying at nighttime but nevertheless ok

The staff were excellent and very accommodating and the house was beautiful
Cons: The issue we had with the Riad was it's location - we did not expect it to be in a position where you had to walk through the equivalent of an industrial estate then the narrow streets where you were constantly followed and chased by aggressive begging or intimidating gangs. I have travelled the world and never left accommodation early but it felt too unsafe leaving and getting back to the house.

Very clean and calming atmosphere, and helpful and lovely staff members. very flexible in terms of the free breakfast and for the days we had trips they even gave us packed breakfast when asked. Breakfast was mostly sweet stuff and very much bread based which is not my style but the portions very big and definitely filled us up for the day.
Cons: The location is central but the opposite side of all the attractions so the walk for sightseeing was longer than you would think, however, I didn’t mind that at all. Location wise it’s very ‘local’ and at times it didn’t feel too safe when coming back to the hotel in the dark. I was accompanied by my boyfriend so it was alright however if you are girl traveling with other girlfriends I might rethink for a more central option. also we got a bit unlucky because we stayed there in January when it was quite cold in the riad and the pool wasn’t heated so we couldn’t swim. Also, they were preparing for the spring season so the terrace was under construction

the property is very pretty, clean, has AC, basic breakfast. unfortunately the location is 30 min walk from the Jenna el Fna square and to get there you walk through the local town which is filled with scammers trying to give you fake directions and become aggressive with you and ask for money when you say no. the way is a bit confusing and difficult to get to. the outside of the hotel is very run down and in the local area which is very dirty and sketchy at night if you are not with someone else.

It is a beautiful Riad with the nicest people who help you however they can! The room was very spacious and got cleaned every day. The rooftop terrace is a good place to hang out after you have been discovering the medina of marrakech. We felt very safe in the area around the riad but you have to consider that you are in another culture and you need to adjust to this. For example people are telling you where you need to be, just walk away from those people.
Cons: The location of the riad is quite far from the main square so you need to take a taxi to there or you need to walk for 30 minutes, the bright side of that is that you get to see a lot, and get to see how people outside of the touristic area live!
