Junes, Javad and Salma, the whole staff were welcoming us with a lovely marrocan tea and the Beautiful marrocan hospitality! Throughout our whole stay all of them made Everything to help us, give us recommemdations and make us have a great time! We enjoyed the marrocan tea and coffe and the rooftop. Without those 4 wonderful people the stay would not be as Special as is was. Thank you so much for making marocco unforgetable for us.
Cons: The water costs 3 x more in the Hotel than at the kiosk nextdoor.

Posizione e gentili

A truly unforgettable stay. The riad is a peaceful oasis, beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained. The rooms are spotless, comfortable, and full of charm. What really makes this place special is the staff: incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help with anything you need. The breakfast by the pool was plentiful, fresh, and delicious — the perfect way to start the day. I would absolutely come back and highly recommend this riad to anyone looking for an authentic and relaxing Moroccan escape.

First of all the staff is amazing, very helful, friendly and welcoming people. They welcomed us with it and spent some time with us to suggest what to see in town and what activities to do. The breakfast was super and diverse and they even offered a breakfast to-go the day we needed to leave early for our trip. The room was clean and close to what is advertised. The Rhiad is beautiful and in a very convenient location for pick up and to explore the old town. Given that you have an idea what it means staying in a Rhiad, it is a very good choice to stay here.
Cons: It was not 100% percent what was adverised through photos and according to the description provided. For example do not expect a private pool by any means as it is written in the description. We also expected our room to be a little bit bigger tbh, but probably we were unlucky. Last but not least, they did not change our sheets or cleaned during our stay, which is actually and the only thing that I would expect and consider as a disadvantage.

The breakfast was good but a typical Moroccan breakfast. The location was good, easy to get out of the medina but great for walking to the souks. The room was spacious for a couple.
Cons: The twin room is very small.

The area is quiet if you want to be away from the main square and the staffs are fantastic. The breakfast is decent.
Cons: Unfortunately I could smell sewage in my room and the riad was fully booked so I could not change room. The staff was helpful and tried to mask the smell with some essential oil. They told me the riad is old so the issue comes from the old plumbing. I had to open both windows in the bathroom and next to my bed as well. I closed the bathroom window before I went to bed because it was a bit noisy. Around 4am, the sewage smell got worst and i had to reopen the bathroom window. On the top of that the previous people staying at my room made a mess and possibly puked on one of the beds. The staff told me they have cleaned the place twice but the smell lingered a bit in the room.

We stayed at Riad Shambala for a short period of time because we travelled to diferent cities in Morocco. Our first night in the country was in Riad Shambala and by accident my friend lost her wallet in our room of the Riad. There arranged to send it to our next Riad for our next city in Fes and recieved it a few days after. They were so carring!! If we go back to Marrakech we will defently pic this Riad once again.
Cons: Everthing was wounderfull.

Cons: Riad Shambala – Very disappointing experience We booked two nights at Riad Shambala, but unfortunately, our stay was far from pleasant. According to our reservation, the room was supposed to be ready at 2:00 PM, but when we arrived, we had to wait, and it wasn’t available until after 4:00 PM. Even then, the cleaning was poor – there were large clumps of hair on the floor. After this experience, we decided to shorten our stay to just one night and found a much better place instead. Breakfast was included in the price. We informed the staff that we had a tour the next morning at 9:00 AM and needed to leave the riad shortly before that. They assured us it wouldn’t be a problem because breakfast starts at 8:30 AM. However, when we came down in the morning, there was no one from the staff around. After about 10 minutes someone finally showed up, looking like he had just been told to prepare breakfast. At 8:50 AM he ran out of the riad to buy groceries for the breakfast! We waited for 30 minutes but had to leave without eating anything. The service was terrible, completely unprofessional. I would not recommend Riad Shambala to anyone.

The facilities of this Riad were great. It was clean, you have everything you need and it was super authentic. The staff went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I arrived sick and the staff cared for me every day, asking how I am feeling, bringing me tea, etc. I could not have asked for a better place to stay in Marrakech. They really made me feel at home here.

Prior to coming, we had a bad experience with a different riad and so we moved here. The staff was super friendly and kind and the pool was so nice after a long hot day at the souks (they even gave us free drinks while using the pool). The rooftop is super nice and has a really nice view of Marrakech. Me and my friend were staying together and the bathroom was bit open, but we didn’t mind honestly because it was such a beautiful room and comfy.
Cons: they don’t take visa and there was a very minor issue with AC once but they fixed it right away anyway.

Riad Shambala was an amazing place to stay! Rabiaa was a very helpful host who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Rabia welcomed & hosted us as if we were family. His colleagues were also outstanding & the riad was kept exceptionally clean & well attended. Comfortable beds in traditional style bedrooms, plenty of bedding for colder nights, lots of very hot water. A lovely rooftop & courtyard. The location in the Medina is excellent. It was a privilege & a pleasure to stay at Riad Sgambala

Rabia was a fantastic host and could not have been more helpful. He booked our trips and an additional Riad, Sun of Kech, when we extended our trip and Shambala was booked. Location (with GPS using local sim card, which is a must) is good.
Cons: The Riad is uncovered without heating and is cold in winter, when you eat in an open space for breakfast and dinner, and the air-conditioning in the room didn't provide enough warmth, so base layers essential. Hot water for bath is limited, and ours ran out when bath only a third full. Same breakfast every day, which for a week becomes a bit repetitive, and we went out twice.

The heart of this riad truly comes from its staff. We felt very welcomed and supported by Rabia, who also helped to coordinate our day-trip to Essaouira. It was a sanctuary to come back to the riad after a busy day visiting the city. The hotel breakfast was also delicious. We were originally concerned by the comments that discussed loud noise (we even packed ear plugs just in case), but we were not disturbed by the noise in our rooms. The riad has two rooftop terraces that we didn't immediately notice from the photos, which we loved. It is also lot brighter during the day in the courtyard than the pictures seem to show, which we were pleasantly surprised by.

Excellent service from Rabih, he is an outstanding guy and a true credit to Riad Shambala. He is forever working hard, available around the clock and goes above and beyond. I hope he is being compensated accordingly, as he was the best thing about the Riad. Interior decor was nice also, especially around the pool area. Lady serving the breakfast was also pleasant.
Cons: Breakfast - limited options, too much bread. Mini fridge needed in rooms Rooms are too dark Television needed in rooms Full length mirror needed in rooms Pool is small also. This is no fault of the riad itself, however the locals are hanging around are annoying. By default, guests should also have a key to the front door, as when returning at night- we have to wait at the front until the door is opened and sometimes this involves having unwanted interactions with local people.

Rabi3 was a very good host. Polite and helpful and gave great advice on how to conduct ourselves in the area. He was helpful in our booking of cabs and also in the discussion of deals we had made for the packages we booked. The cook was a lovely lady when it came to making breakfast and very helpful as there were mornings where we needed an earlier breakfast as we were going away for a tour.
Cons: Nothing that could be helped. Sometimes walking to the Riad wasn't the most comfortable at night. But this made the Riad even more of a hidden gem.

Amazing team who made you feel like family from the moment you step into the door. It's a beautiful Riad with only 5 rooms that it offers a close and personable experience to engage in the space or with hosts/guests inside. Mohamad was an exceptional host and kindly offered breakfast with an early check-in as it was available, provided travel advice & options at my leisure (was not pushy with tours as I've experienced with some other riads), and even welcomed me to try his amazing couscous when he knew I worked through some meals. Dining in the Riad for breakfast in the courtyard was picturesque viewing the dip pool and sunsets on one of the two terraces was also a beautiful escape from the busy Medina which was located a short 10 minute walk. The room I had was spacious and gorgeously decorated with a spa tub and robes. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for a home away from home, the comfort of being able to be apart of their guesthouse, and a family who welcomed me in so lovingly from Mohamed to his friendly cousin to finally beautifully sweet Naima who gifted me a farewell token. 💞 #scatterbrain

Cons: It is a bit far from the main points of interest if you walk like we did. The room was really small, we felt a bit overcharged for such a small space. The room was clean and had enough of space for 2, as well it was cleaned daily. The breakfast provided daily were as well a great start of the day. The location in Medina was honestly pretty great- we were able to walk everywhere- not only the main market, Souks, museums, but also the "new neighborhoods" were easy to reach without need of a taxi. We recommend staying in Shambala to everyone and know that we will come back ourselves for the next vacation in Marrakech ✨️

Very safe area and the local people were extremely courteous to us. At no point did we, as female travellers, feel harrassed or vunerable. Our amazing host came out to meet us every night, to walk us back to the Riad and made us a pot of mint tea so we could unwind.
Cons: Polution and congestion, caused by too many motor scooters in such narrow streets, was a challenge. Labyrinth of alleys hard to navigate, especially at night.

- a very nice and helpful administrator, - close to the coach station, - good breakfast, - free tea any time, - cozy terrace with the view on the roofs of the city
Cons: - no door in the toilet! (there is just a piece of a wall that separates the room from the toilet but it's too short; basically, the toilet bowl is in front of your bed), - there were 2 windows in the room (to the inside courtyard and the street) and it was extremely noisy, - very small room (the bed is immediately after you enter), - very low water pressure in the taps, - unpleasant street where the Riad is located

Excellent stay at Riad Shambla. We were there for our honeymoon and they made the room up for us which was very nice. The Riad was in excellent condition and was always clean. The breakfast that we were served every morning was brilliant and so tasty. But the best thing about the Riad was its staff and especially Rabie. He looked after us from the minute we got there to even after our stay at the Riad had ended. We moved to a different Riad after but Rabie still made sure that we were looked after, booking excursions for us and helping with recommendations. He was incredibly hard working and went above and beyond for us and every resident there. If I could recommend staying at the Riad for just Rabie I would. He was truly brilliant.
Cons: Having arrived there quite late at night we did not expect it to be so busy when we first arrived there and unfortunately the location of the Riad meant we had to go through the backstreets of the Medina. My only advice is that to not take the locals up on the help of locating the Riad as they will charge you and hassle you for money. It is rather easily locatable and if you really need go to a shop and ask someone there.

It's a beautiful riad, well located. The pool is refreshing and rooftop sunny. The staff is nice and friendly, the guy helped us park our car and negotiate good price (30 dirham per night). Room was clean, though rather small, bed comfortable and A/C quiet.
Cons: No door separating the room and bathroom. It was quite loud on the street at night.

Rabie welcomed us with a big smile and tasty tea. He made our 3-day stay very comfortable. We really felt at home. He even separated the beds to make more space in our room. He answered all of our questions patiently and gave us great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. The staff is super friendly, kind and accommodating. Beautiful riad, location was perfect for us and very safe. Our delicious breakfast was served daily next to the pool which we enjoyed greatly.

We really liked this riad and especially our host, he is very welcoming and he always helped us when we had some questions about the city! our room was very nice and clean, and the pool in the lobby was a perfect place to hide from heat during the day. Not to mention the view from the terrace and mint tea made by the host - just breathtaking! we booked it also with breakfast included and were very satisfied - it was a decent, fresh and tasty breakfast made right when you come! 100% recommended! we thank you for your hospitality!

The riad itself Is a paradise inside Marrakech, the room Is confortable and very clean, there's a rooftop that you can use for free and believe me Is really special to have dinner on It. The breakfast Is Amazing with tipical products from Marrakech made Daily and also cooked on site. But the best of the best of the best that worth every single second spent here Is Rabio the receptionist, he's Amazing, polite, gentle, accomodating, everything u can Imagine. He helped us a lot during our stay giving us everything we need at anytime without esitation. We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Shambala, the staff made our stay amazing. Location was okay.
Cons: The pictures of Riad are very old. Riad is falling apart. Dirty carpet in the room, broken table by the bed, broken sofa on the terace, broken drain of the shower.... The service was the bear minimum, no effort from the staff. The room is not cleaned daily and towels are not changed. At brakfast there is no plate, industrial cheep juice full of sugar, no botled water to offer. When asked for dinner they could not be bothered to give any of their menu or offer a suggestion to eat someplace else.

The staff were great, always there to help you out with everything and good English too. The road itself is lovely with the rooftop terraces and the plunge pool.

Riad Shambala is simply the best accomodation you can find in the medina of Marrakech: it's located in the northern old town but not in a too touristic area, it's close to every attraction and very cheap. The atmosphere is beautiful, the rooms are fresh and you can relax near a little pool, in a comfortable courtyard. Rabee, the guest, is a very kind and nice person: he suggested us a superb place to eat tajines, and gave us lots of tips for our visit. He speaks a fluent english and prepare an excellent mint tea. Riad Shambala is definitely your place in Marrakech!

the staff was outstanding. Very much appreciated their help in getting a driver, making recommendations and accommodating our requests

The host, Rabii, was super helpful and accommodating!
Cons: Although location was near the old town, it was a bit scary at night (outside Riad) as there are bystanders who would harass you into giving them money (which is pretty common in the old town). It’s not the riad itself that’s the problem but it’s just unsafe to walk home by yourself late at night.

The receptionist was helpfull.
Cons: Our room was very small, i had to pass through the bed to get to my side.First night left without air conditioning working( January, freezing cold! I slept with my jacket,as there was only a single sheet on the bed???, and only in the morning i saw some used and not clean blankets chucked in the wardrop).Second night eventually they ,,found" a remote control and fix it, but wasnt heatting enough. No internet,no hot water from the sink, only from the shower.Very old and tired off towels. The riad is in the Medina(acording to the discription is in the town centre...), a place that is worthed visit, but not sure if is good idea to have your hotel.....not a normal city centre that one would think of...

We went and booked Shamballa because of the nice reviews. I will be honest, allthought the staff is very friendly. We had the tiniest of rooms, my husband also had to climb over me to get out of the bed. An open bathroom/bedroom experience. Smoking men just under the bathroom shutters, talking all night. Not the Riads fault, but in a nearby house, a woman and her husband were in som very loud fights and serveral nights she was screaming and crying. Very upsetting. Tipped the staff well, in hope to get a pot of coffee with milk every morning. We didnt every morning though. No soap in the downstairs bathroom the staff uses, also the same who cookes the breakfast. Broken furniture. But! An old part of town, and much more quiet than if you stay closer to the Souk and plaza. Beautifull terrasse x 2. Amazing view over the outer part of the city. Very nice and hospitable guy who takes care of the guests every day. Breakfast is very nice. Bed vas also very good. A very pretty Riad. A 15-20 min walk to the shopping area/Souk. So, if you can lower your american/european expectations, we do recommend this Riad, just make sure you dont get the smallest room.

Roger was amazing and very welcoming. He was always available 24/7. He arranged to collect us from the airport and also take us a few days later on our return. As we arrived late the first evening he arranged for a chef to make us a wonderful chicken tagine, salad and fresh fruit. Breakfast was a selection of bread, pastry, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, fresh orange juice. Very good. We had a suite which was a good size and clean. Hot water and strong shower. As the suite was on the top floor (the Riad consists of 3 floors and just 5 guest rooms), we had very quick access to one of the 2 roof top terraces. From here you could relax out of the bustle of the Medina and souzs, enjoy the view and watch the sunset. We actually took a sneaky bottle of wine up there. I would recommend this Riad for a good value for money Riad. It is not the most luxurious but clean and service impeccable. I would recommend that you get a good map of the area, easy to get lost, the tourist map is useless! We used the 2 gates either side of the riad as our reference. If lost get to the outer wall and taxi round!
Cons: The bath tub wasn't easy to fill. One evening another set of guests were a little chatty in the centre quadrant by the pool, so voices travelled upwards.

We had a great time at the Riad Shambala! The staff is very warm and welcoming - We didn’t eat breakfast, because we like to sleep in and wait with food until lunch, so they cooked an incredible dinner to make up for the missing meal, which was so generous and literally the best food experience we had throughout our stay. Everything, the room is beautiful and clean, but most important, the staff. I arrived with my girlfriend after she fell and her wrist was hurt. we told Raduan that we want to go to the hospital and he took us!! and stayed with us the whole time. Raduan was so modest and nice and helpful and we just didn’t know how to repay him. Thank you so much Raduan! But Raduan isn’t alone in the Riad, Rabih the second staff member is also so nice helpful and supportive. They both kept asking how my girlfriend feels even after we left. I will definitely come back and recommend this place.

The room and the riad overall are nice and beautiful as expected from the photos, and the location is quite good too. Our arrival experience wasn't great though. The driver who drove us there could only drop us off at the nearest spot which was about two minutes walk to the riad. He called the raid hoping that they could send someone out to bring us to the riad, as it's nothing easy to find. However, the riad's people didn't come out, but instead they asked someone else on the street to bring us in. Not only that the guy wanted to do that for a fee, the guy actually didn't know how to get there neither, so he misled us to go around couple blocks with our heavy luggage, and then finally asked another kid to bring us there. When we arrived, the guy requested us to also give money to that kid. The whole experience was terrible! Right at the beginning it showed us how people there were irresponsible and dishonest. Beware! One night after dinner we arrived back to the riad at 10pm, and we couldn't get in! The door was always locked and we had to ring the bell, but no one answered. We were outside the riad door for 15 minutes, ringing the bell and knocking on the door. Imagine it's at night in the middle of an alley of an old town in Morocco and we got locked outside! Finally we found a way to call the riad, and the guy said he couldn't hear the door bell!

Bien.

We enjoyed our stay in Riad Shambala. It is conveniently located in the Medina and only about 15 minutes walk to the Marrakesh center. The courtyard was beautiful and room is comfortable. The staff was very friendly & welcoming, and they offer you moroccan tea whenever you come to the riad. Soufian gave us the map of the medina, showed us how to get to each of the important places and gave his phone number to contact him in case we are lost. Their complementary breakfast was very good. We also had dinner in the riad which was an excellent experience with delicious food in a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere. The only thing I would ask for is little more brighter lambs in the room.

Having taken advice about arriving in the Medina at night, I contacted the riad a few days before and arranged their collection service from the airport. This turned out to be a good idea as we would never have found it on our own! We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. As we settled in with mint tea, Basu explained all we needed to know and even though it was 10pm we were offered a meal. The room was on the second floor (no lifts) and with twin beds (as I has requested) was perfect for 2 female friends. Everything was very clean, we had bathrobes, slippers and basic toiletries provided and there was plenty of room. The next day we were a little late for breakfast but this was no problem to the staff, who served us a beautiful breakfast on the roof terrace with views across to the Atlas mountains. The only food included in the price was breakfast, but they were happy to make us other meals and all the food we had at the riad was very well presented and very good (breakfasts, tagines, salads, etc.) All the staff were very friendly and we felt very safe and welcome. The riad was having a re-wire and partial re-furb whilst we were there but this was of no inconvenience to us and each day we came back from exploring it looked prettier than before! Basu was more than willing to help us to find places, he even walked all the way to the Jardin Majorelle with us to make sure we found it. He also gave us his phone number to call him in case we got lost in the medina.
