The location of the hotel was very good, in the Medina. It was a quiet neighborhood and close to the city center. The breakfast was complete and delicious. The rooms and all areas of the hotel were beautiful, clean and comfortable and the staff was very hospitable and helpful.

Zimmer sauber. Frühstück sehr gut und reichhaltig.

Cons: Der Zugang abends.

It was a wonderful stay! The staff are very friendly and super helpful with any of your questions. The location is great - a short walk to the centre of the medina. The riad is beautiful, so quiet and tranquil. A peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. The room was very comfortable - firm bed and spacious. Would 100% stay here again.

Cons: Nothing. It was perfect. Some people mention the location is in a small alleyway but this is typical of a lot of riads in Marakesh and I never felt unsafe as a solo female traveler.

Accueil parfait.

This riad is a beautifully restored building. The staff is very helpful. We loved chatting with Achmed about Moroccan culture and learned so much from him. The neighborhood feels very local, away from most of the touristic places but within walking distance of everything that we were interested to see. We would come here again any day!

Cons: The moroccan eat a lot of sweet things for breakfast. In this riad the breakfast is traditional moroccan. This part we could have skipped. In fact we did most of our stay ;-)

It’s a beautiful hotel with a nice bathroom and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was a wide spread and plenty for a good base to start your day on.

Cons: A thing we didn’t take into account was that the hotel was located at the very back of an alleyway which at night can seem creepy if not expected. It’s located in an actual neighborhood with little tourism and very real lives of the native people. It was a bit overwhelming but it is completely safe.

Cons: The rooms was more than €100 per night and it absolutely smelled like sewage. It was horrible. The staff confirmed and apologized for the situation, apparently it has rained the day before and the sewage had come up. I asked for another room which was not possible and we had to spend the night in a horrible smell. Still had to pay the full price, the staff was helpful but said the owner did not want to compensate for the situation.

In comparison with many other hotels (riads) in the same range, it was quiet and comfortable. Helpful and kind staff. Great thanks to Ahmad for all the recommendations of restaurants, money changers and so on: even reminding us not to carry our phohnes in a back pocket lest it gets stolen! (It didn't.)

Cons: It's not that we didn't like it, but it's worth mentioning that the property is in a different state now than when the photos were taken. It's still comfortable and clean, though.

The overall atmosphere of the place is exotic and friendly. If you want to be in the middle of the messy Medina, this location is a good option.

Cons: Definitely not a 4 star accomodation. It looks and feels like it did not have a good cleaning for ages, just the daily touch ups. Worn down and dusty everywhere. The breakfast is ok, the same every day. Ordered airport service, on the way back - they simply forgot my request - I had to take a cab although I paid for the ride already. Although I requested a breakfast for 7.30 on the day of departure, we had to leave without it - since it was just simply not ready. Some of the staff members are really nice and try their best, but the riad just has not meet our -not very high - expectations.

My friend and I stayed at Riad Ben Tachefine for a week. The staff was very welcoming since before our arrival, and contacted me well before our stay to offer some additional services (taxi for the pick-up, and traditional dinner at the riad) and advices. Despite these services have an additional cost, I appreciated the fact they offered them anyway. The riad is conveniently located in a small alleyway near one of the Medina’s door. It takes a short walk to get to the Suks and some of the main attractions. The interior offers a beautiful showcase of traditional Moroccan riads and each element provides an exotic sense of authenticity. Rooms are a bit dark since they have windows on the internal cortile but no windows on the side of the road, but again this appears to be typical of Moroccan Riads. On the ground floor, there is a reception with staff letting guests in and out; a beautiful cortile where they serve breakfast/meals and a SPA. On the first floor there are 4 rooms and another space where guests can sit and relax. Finally, there is a terrace with sunbeds on the second floor where guests can relax and enjoy a nice Moroccan sunbath. The complimentary Moroccan breakfast is absolutely amazing and changes every day to allow guests to try different Moroccan foods. It’s served on a traditional metal stand with three different layers. On the bottom tray, there are 4 different Moroccan dishes; on the medium layer there are several condiments (jams, yogurt, honey, etc.), and on the top layer there’s usually another sweet treat. We did not try the dinner so I am unable to comment on that. Staff was always there to help. From answering the door, to providing advice and helpful tips. At some point, we needed laundry service and the staff arranged it for us at a small price.

Cons: Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi wasn’t good and we were not able to use it during the busiest hours of the day when the hotspots were eventually congested. It was working fine early morning and during the night, but during the day there was no way to use it. Also the room did not have liquid body wash as the Riad provided traditional soap bars that were a bit too squishy and difficult to use, and for which we needed to request a new one every time we consumed one. Apart from this, both my friend and I personally enjoyed staying at the Riad and can definitely recommend it.

The best part of our stay at Riad Ben Tachfine was the staff. Ashraf and Ahmed were both so friendly and helpful, they made sure we had everything we needed, including packing up a takeaway breakfast for us when we had to checkout early. They also organised a pickup from the airport for us which went smoothly and Ashraf came to pick us up from the taxi and escorted us to the hotel. The location was great, only a 15-20 minute walk to the main square and there were plenty of restaurants very close by which made it so convenient. Our room was spacious, had plenty of storage and was cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious and we got plenty of food. The Riad had a gorgeous roof terrace that was so peaceful to chill out on and escape the chaos of Marrakech!

Cons: Our only issue was the bed was very hard which affected our sleep. Also, as I'm sure is the case with other Riads, the walls are very thin which means it gets noisy. Make sure you take earplugs (luckily we did so this wasn't really a problem for us!).

The property is very nice and antique. Our room was maintained clean by staff and we had AC which helped with the heat in morroco.

Cons: I wasn’t a big fan of the area or the area to get to the riad. I was a bit scared because it was through alleyways and barely any light at night and lot of people selling fruits and it wasn’t a clean area just ver busy. This is something I should’ve researched. The breakfast was not the best I could hear the bread being heated up in the microwave every morning and there was no variety just bread to eat all morning and this was disappointing. We hoped to have fruit or eggs but it was the same microwaved breakfast.

Cons: It's further away from the center parts of the Medina, compared to other properties in the same price range. The rooms are equally much smaller, and there isn't much of a common area. Understandable for a much lower rate, but within current price, it's not worth it. Area is sketchy, and would not recommend for solo female travelers.

From Ahamed first meeting our Taxi on the street to his welcoming Mint Tea to his farewell we felt well looked after by him and the team at Riad Ben Techfine. It maybe cliché however it was truly an oasis of calm away from the bustling streets. The staff were available 24 / 7 and we were always met with a smile no matter the time or the request. . . . nothing was too much trouble from the advice offered or service received and we felt well looked after during our stay.

The Riad is beautiful and well appointed. Our room was clean and comfortable and it was lovely to take breakfast each morning on the open air terrace. We also enjoyed a delicious traditional meal on our first night. The staff - Muhammad, Mehmet and Asharaf and the rest of the team were exceptional and simply couldn’t do enough for us - providing safety advice and tourist guidance as well as organising transfer to and from the airport. They are a great example of the graciousness and welcoming nature of the Moroccan people.

Cons: The Riad is deep in the alleyways behind the souks and it can be daunting coming back at night in the dark. But the staff are in hand to provide advice and conducted us from our transfer taxi in our first night. We personally did not experience any problems on our way to and from the Riad at any time.

Sareem and Ashraf were so friendly and ready to help! Big thanks to them. Felt very much at home at this riad. Came for one night and stayed for three. I was first a bit hesitant about the nasty kids from the previous reviews, but was lucky not to meet any. Though as the city guide explained to me, kids like this are all over the medina and as they see you are lost or confused, they would try extorting money from you for showing the way, no matter if you're looking for a riad or a shop. So if you're up for the medina, try getting a maps app and stable internet access in advance (local sim cards with internet are available at the airport). As for the riad itself, it was a beautiful one with a lovely bathroom, clean and comfortable. I stayed in two kinds of rooms, one bigger and one smaller - both were wonderful. Normally you can order food for dinner till 12 pm, but because I was never able to plan in advance and the guys were so friendly, I made it spontaneously and all my wishes were accommodated. There is also a cute cat living next door. She bumped into me this morning as I was leaving, reminding that I have left some valuables in the room. Was very nice of her. Generally many cats all around, which made me feel good as a cat lover 😺

Beautiful. On arrival, around 6pm, they sat me down and provided some refreshing mint tea and some snacks. They were happy to organise some dinner for me that night so I didn’t have to go out into the Medina to find some. I was very grateful as I had been travelling for 35 hours. The next morning they made us some breakfast at 7am, much earlier than the usual time as we were getting picked up to go on a tour at 7.30am. Easy check in and check out process. Lovely, helpful staff.

Cons: There was a small mix up when I checked in they showed me to the wrong room and only realised after I had unpacked everything. So I had to repackage and move rooms. They were very apologetic.

The breakfast and other meals were delicious. Mr. Ahmed was very hospitable and helpful with all questions about the area and situational awareness. This included transport to events and transport to the airport. Mr. Achraf was very hospitable as well. We were attending a show our first night. Mr. Achraf gave us his phone number to give the driver that was taking us to a show, so he can escort us back to the Riad. Upon return from the show, Mr. Achraf guided our driver back to a location to escort us back to the Riad. This was around midnight, after a show. We were super happy, because the Medina can be confusing at night, especially, if you have only been there for a couple of days. Mr. Ahmed and Mr. Achraf made our stay absolutely awesome.

Nice hosts very helpful and available

Cons: The location. We and another couple were both mugged by youths who extorted money for directions with threatening behaviour. This spoiled our stay and meant we did not go back to the Souks. They tricked us by saying there was a prayer meeting and we had to divert. We were then surrounded by 5 youths demanding money. Very scary. We will never go back. The Police need to take action and fix this. Most Moroccans are lovely people that we came across especially in the hotels.

Cons: I didn’t like first off all the area was so dirty and too traditional for me no tourists around only local people , then the feeling in my room .. it was not breathy and shiny at all I felt I was in prison . the staff was very very kind and helpful but this was the only good think there I just counted hours to escape from this house . of course this is my opinion . maybe if you like to have a traditional stay in an old mansion this will fit you

The breakfast was good. The evening food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Overall though we loved the look of the place, you really stay in a beautiful house and are in the Medina but unaffected by the noise.

Cons: The location took some time to get used to but once you realised that the Derbnakhla gate was the easy location finder it was straightforward. The medina is amazing but can be very confusing. Always use that gate, if you turn the other way in the medina make sure you leave a trail of pebbles to follow back ;-)

Breakfast was amazing. Coffee, pancakes, cakes, omelette. It was very clean and calming and the staff were very helpful.

Cons: We arrived late and the Riad is located some way from the road, and finding the place was tricky. Ensure you have Google maps or phone the riad so they come and get you.

I must highlight the kindness and helpfulness of our hosts, Ahmed and Achraf, they answered all our questions and gave useful tips to go about the city. The riad is located in the medina, expect to be immersed in the "old town" feel of the city. The riad looks beautiful, tidy, our room was cleaned every day. The breakfast is great and more than enough, with many options.

Cons: The water pressure wasn't the best in the shower, and since we visited in January, we had to wait a bit to get truly hot water. There's no real insulation on the door and window, that goes for temperature and sound, but I guess guess that's part of the authentic look and feel ;)

A fantastic location and stay, the hosts are very helpful and very welcoming. We felt very welcome and at ease here. The location and surroundings feel safe, is located in the city centre but you don't notice much of the hustle and bustle as soon as you step in the door. Friendly staff and do everything for an optimal holiday experience. The hygiene and rooms are also fine. The staff were always up for a nice chat. They speak the English language well. Definitely recommended and for us a place to definitely visit again

We liked everything, but the breakfast stands out. There was a save in the room. Parking was nearby, we got every day clean towels. The staff was super friendly. Very tastefully decorated with an eye for detail. We spent 3 weeks in Marokko and this Riad was the very best in every aspect.

Cons: Can't think of anything.

It’s a nice Riad, Djemaa el Fna is very close in walking distance about 20 minutes and very safe to walk alone as a women even late in the night. The stuff is amazing helpful, kind and very professional. Houseyin was very welcoming I felt very comfortable having him around. Breakfast was good and prepared with love. the room were cleaned every day. When u arrive during the daytime local people will guide u to the hotel and ask u for a little tip.

Cons: the owners were there with a little kid who cried and was quite loud. i felt like i‘m in there house and on there way. As I was the only guest for few days and they ignored me. the last day they startet to talk at least and I could wait in the riad until it was time to go to the airport.

A lovely riad tucked away in the Medina. An oasis of calm amid the hustle and bustle. I would have given totally full marks apart from I'd booked this riad on the basis that it had a small gym but that had been removed.

We cannot understand why this place has a 4star rating. I think they’d rating should be re-evaluated. It’s in a very bad and dirty area of the medina. Walking to it was pretty scary and once we got there, we were even more disappointed! The exterior entrance has obvious deferred maintenance. Once inside, we were again disappointed bcuz the interior courtyard was dim, dingy, had deferred maintenance and depressing. This place was so bad that we decided to move to another Riad. A Riad that has 4star rating but there truly is NO comparison! Mohamed is a very nice man and he tried to help us but he and the staff had a “that’s the way it is” kind of attitude. It was a bit frustrating but we dealt with it.

Amazing, simply amazing. It was the best choice we could have done. Lovely Malika and Sam and also anybody else working at Riad Ben Tachfine have been more than helpful, absolutely attentive and just made us feel good and happy any moment. The Riad and also the Marrakesch Suite were great, full of wonderful decorations. Everything was perfectly clean at all times and we could feel the unique atmosphere which was also created through the love for all details in this Riad. We want to come back to Marrakech for sure - and it is also sure for us that we will come back to Riad Ben Tachfine again. Thanks a lot for everything, you made our vacation unforgettable.

Riad Ben Tachfine is in the less touristy part of the Médina and offered us a glimpse of life in this fascinating old city. The staff, particularly Malika, was kind and helpful. We came from the airport late in the afternoon and were hungry and Maliki greeted us with mint tea and cookies and arranged for us to have a simple meal of bread, meatballs and fruit salad (for a charge of 15 euro for the two of us). When we left she sent two men to carry our luggage to the street and hail a taxi for us (which, it turned out, was not so simple so we were glad to have them there.) The riad is old and beautiful but like much of the Médina has a feeling of faded elegance. One suggestion for the management: Make hand soap more available! There was soap in the shower but none by the sink in the bathroom that came with our room and none in the downstairs bathroom near the front door.

Arrived at Morocco airport and our pick up arranged by the hotel did not turn up,we waited for 1 hour then got a taxi ourselves to the hotel at double the price. The cleaner must have broken a glass when cleaning the room because the matching glasses we had for the first 2 days did not match on the 3rd day, we only noticed this when my wife stood on a piece of broken glass and cut her foot in the bedroom. We had no hot water for 2 days we complained on the first day this happened but still no hot water the following day. We were given clean towels on the first 4 nights but no clean towels for the remaining 3 days of our 7 night stay. If you book this Riad for a holiday ask not to be put in the only room on the ground floor Very noisy in the morning from 06:30 each day as the breakfast room is next to the ground floor room. The Riad is located in the old part of town down a couple darkly lit alleyways Close to the hotel we were approached 3 times over the course of the week by groups telling us the road ahead was closed and to get to where we wanted to go was to follow them to which we obviously ignored. So for us not a good holiday and we would never return to Riad or The area it was situated.

We were very happy with our stay at Riad Ben Tachfine. Not going to lie: the Medina is a weird place. I got nervous on the way there because the whole location is essentially an unmarked, snaking alley maze. But, when they opened the Riad door, I was amazed! The wonderfully hospitable staff (Yassine and the madame) were attentive and helpful the whole time. Beautifully decorated, super cute, full of culture and history. Thank you!

Lovely riad in the medina. Location makes it a little tough to get to but staff will meet the taxi and assist you to the riad. They will even escort you to a local restaurant. Staff was exceptional. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. They even prepared a special meal for one of us who got sick. The room was a wee bit small and lacked chairs, but we made due. Lighting was somewhat dim in the bathroom. The common area was super. Overall we were most pleased with the facility and felt the minor issues were far surpassed by the wonderful staff. Dinner can be arranged if you wish.

Riad is a bit of a chore to find, but worth it. Hospitality top notch, staff very kind. Rooms and bathroom large and comfy. At NE corner of Medina. Once we found our bearings it was 10-15 min walk to major attractions. Riad is gated and secure.

This was a great stay, the immaculate design and decor authentic to the area and well maintained was a great oasis in the hustle and bustle of town. It is a fair distance to the center of town, but the distance made for a welcome respite and it was all within a 30minutes walk. Service was top notch.

We had a great stay at the Riad. They picked us up from the main st after we got a little lost on the way there! the Riad is quiet, the staff is friendly and accommodating, It's clean and wiFi is fine. The bed is firm- not ideal for side sleeping- but comfortable. It's a good location out of the bustle but close enough to walk back for an afternoon rest.
