The service at this Riad was exceptional. From greeting and checking us in, checking in to make sure everything is okay and making sure breakfast is available for the time we were starting our day. They even set up something small for us on the day we were leaving at 7am. The rooms are clean, spacious, the bathrooms are great and the rooms are cleaned each day. The area is also very nice and walkable. It's beside a meat market but you'll only notice it when walking to and from the hotel. It's very easy to walk into the souks area and the square. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to stay in Marrakech.

We really enjoyed our stay here, even though it started off a little confusing! We went to the address shown on our booking and ended up at their sister property, Dar Massaï Spa, instead — so there was a bit of a walk with our suitcases to the right riad. Once we got there, though, everything was lovely. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming, and the riad itself is beautifully decorated and very peaceful. The beds were really comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was excellent. It’s a little bit out of the way of the main centre, but once you get your bearings, it’s a great base for exploring Marrakesh. All in all, a great experience with wonderful hosts — just make sure you head to the right Dar Massaï when you arrive!

Everything was spotless, and the riad itself is beautiful, with tasteful decor. The staff were very helpful and kind, always making us feel welcome. I also liked the location in the Kasbah area, a walled district in the southern part of the medina – it feels authentic and peaceful, yet still within walking distance to the centre of the medina. Bedroom in the first floor was spacious and well equipped. The thick, high-quality towels were a nice touch and much appreciated. A wonderful stay overall in a charming place with lots of positives and with a few small improvements it could be perfect - I would quite possibly repeat.

Cons: On the downside, the WiFi didn’t reach all areas of the riad — there were blind spots in the room/bathroom and no signal on the rooftop. This could be easily fixed with a WiFi mesh system that nowadays are inexpensive. The room was great and very relaxing, but the bed was quite hard for my taste (I prefer medium-firm), so not the most comfortable and perhaps I would include two sets of pillows for each. The shower space is generously sized, but without a glass door water tends to spill onto the bathroom floor, and the shower head didn’t hold in position properly, which made it less practical. The tourist tax is also not very transparent: it’s cash-only, no receipt, and not well explained either on Booking.com or at the riad.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and always willing to help with a smile. The location couldn’t have been better close to everything yet still quiet and relaxing, making it the perfect spot for both exploring and unwinding. The amenities exceeded my expectations: modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and incredibly comfortable, with all the details carefully taken care of. I also really enjoyed the common areas, which had a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. What stood out the most was the people the service was consistently outstanding, making me feel truly at home. Every interaction was genuine and added to the overall charm of the place. I honestly can’t recommend this hotel enough. It’s rare to find a place where everything from location to amenities to hospitality comes together so perfectly. I will definitely be coming back!

We absolutely loved our stay at The Riad Dar Masai. A friend who had previously been a guest here recommended it and it did not disappoint! A beautiful, airy and spacious guesthouse with a cosy, clean and peaceful room. The staff were so welcoming. Our host, Noureddine was wonderful! So friendly and informative, going out of his way to be helpful and cheery. The chefs were amazing - breakfast was delicious and we opted for the three course rooftop meal on one night and it was fantastic. Great value for money and in a lively, rustic and central location. We will definitely be back!

Getting to the hotel can be a bit of a pain at first with luggage as the cobble streets and navigating around the locals and bikes. Once you find it the Riad is so nice inside. The staff are the kindest and nicest people I’ve ever encountered in any facility. The hotel was kept so clean! The room We had was perfect for us (definitely make sure to bring your own toiletries and maybe extra toilet paper/ wipes. They have one roll provided but it’s not as much in a roll compared to rolls in the states. We luckily had wipes so had no issues. Also remember to have a water bottle to brush your teeth. If you’re from the states- Morocco isn’t probably your first trip but just a reminder to get an international wall outlet (the two prong stick looking wall plug). The streets come alive at night! -I don’t recommend going too far off the beaten path at night. Also be aware of the children in the area they will tend to ask for money and will follow you to the hotel. Overall if we were to come back to Morocco we would stay here again!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds, great design and architecture. Easy walking distance to some main attractions. I was offered early breakfast due to needing to leave early for a tour.

Cons: Not very soundproof, and there is a mosque very close by, so expect an early wake up call. Google maps will tell you to walk down an incorrect alleyway to find it, but if you are walking from Bab Agnaou/Saadian Tombs, you will start to see correct signage when you are close and find it easily.

A wonderful calm oasis tucked away in the midst of high energy Marrakech. The hotel is furnished beautifully with plenty of original Moroccan details and each room themed by colour - we had the blue room. The en-suite was roomy with stunning tiles, the bed was comfy and wide and the service was excellent; we had a delicious dinner of vegetarian tagine, and breakfast (the latter included in the price) which was a typical Moroccan start to the day served on a sunny rooftop terrace. We heartily recommend this hotel to travellers but book early as the rooms are limited to only five.

First of all, the staff is just the best. The riad itself is just as it looks in the photos. I had the room off the main room and it was quiet. I could hear the rooster and birds chirping and loved it. The bed was comfortable, I had all I needed. Wi-fi was great and they have WINE The staff wants you to feel like a family member in their home and they do just that. The riad's location is safe and easy to get to once they show you how to get there. The taxis are just a five minute walk. I would absolutely stay there again and especially as a single woman guest.

The Riad is very nice. The decoration is fabulous and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I also liked the terrace up on the top. The food and breakfast was also very good. Unfortunately, though the walls are thin, and there was a guest in the room next to me who was snoring very loudly every night, which was making it very difficult for me to sleep. I wanted to change rooms, but unfortunately, this was not possible. There is also an annoying rooster next door that starts making noise early in the morning so probably not the best place to stay if you are a light sleeper or bring ear plugs. Also important to know that if you use the hotel’s hammam , it is a 10 minute walk away and the lady who does the Massage gave me only a 30 minute massage instead of a 45 minutes. After complaining, I got an extra 15 minutes so if you do book the service, just keep an eye on the time.

My stay at this hotel was nothing short of awful. At the end of my stay, I was overcharged for the city tax despite having a confirmation email from Hotels.com clearly showing the amount due. The staff refused to honor it, which felt dishonest and left a bad final impression. The hotel itself is extremely noisy. A rooster crowed loudly every night, and it sounded like it was right next to my ear. It was impossible to sleep with the constant noise, which completely ruined the experience. Combined with the dated and dusty rooms, it felt more like a poorly maintained hostel than a hotel. The property desperately needs renovations and a thorough cleaning. The breakfast was disappointing and inadequate. It consisted of just two small pieces of bread, a dry, sweet bun, a tiny portion of yogurt, and a small glass of orange juice that wasn’t even filled. When I politely asked for a refill, I was refused. It was insulting. To make matters worse, the heating/air conditioning was broken, and the worker at the hotel was downright creepy. He seemed to be watching us all the time, monitoring what we were doing, and even followed us to the supermarket in a suspicious manner. This made us feel extremely uncomfortable throughout our stay. On top of all this, the worker at check in didn’t speak English at all, making communication a nightmare. Overall, this hotel was a complete letdown. I would never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The property was beautiful, with an inside pool and roof terrace, as well as being wonderfully decorated. It was also in an excellent location, an easy walk to jamaa el fina but in a relatively quiet part of the medina. Breakfast was simple but tasty and we had dinner there one night and it was probably the best thing we ate in Marrakech. The biggest highlight of the Riad though was undoubtedly the staff, Adam and Nordin going out of their way to make you feel special and valued every day. There was another young lady who worked there too (sorry, I never got her name) who was also very helpful and nice. Couldn't recommend staying with these guys on your next trip to Marrakech more.

The room was comfortable and had everything we needed - we especially liked the sun terrace where we had a couple of evenings watching the sun going down. Nordin was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to make our stay the best ever. He would always greet us with the warmest welcome and he took us to go and book a hammam on one of our days there. We also enjoyed some delicious couscous during our stay cooked by the wonderful woman at the Riad (feel awful that we can’t remember her name!) she was also amazing at helping us to and from the taxis to the airport. The location was perfect, close by to everything. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone - thanks team Riad Dar Massai:) From Anna and Ben

The staff at the Riad and the Riad itself were perfectly lovely. It really is great value for the price. We ate in Riad first night (we arrived late) and the tagine was one of the best I have had in Morocco (I've been twice and tagine almost every time). Definitely recommend spending the money to have the hotel arrange a taxi from airport, or arrange with Riad staff to meet you to walk you to the door as the route could be intimidating the first time. Location was perfect for us, everything we visited was within 5 - 30 mins walk. Only negatives (very minor!) - should have bottled water included in room price and available in room and the location would make some solo travelling women a bit uncomfortable in early morning or after dark....

The room was beautifully designed and very clean. Beds were comfortable.

Cons: There was a mosque next door. The call to prayer woke us up twice in the middle of the night. It makes so much noise, that is impossible to sleep through it. Besides we got woken up by the caretaker of the hotel at 5.30 am, as he thought we needed to leave to the airport at 5.30 am. However, we only needed to leave at 6.30 am. All in all, a very bad night of sleep.

From the moment my wife and I stepped foot into Riad Dar Massai, I knew I had chosen the perfect place for our stay in Marrakech. Immediately, Noureddine welcomed us in with open arms as if we were part of his family. He met us at our cab (that they arranged for us) to ensure we knew the exact way to the Riad, as the streets can be very confusing. We knew we were arriving late, so we arranged with them for dinner there upon arrival, which Noureddine set us up on the rooftop for an amazing first night. It was the perfect first night in such an beautiful place! Each morning, we were made a fresh, delicious breakfast, which we could eat on the rooftop, or in the main room by the pool. Both Noureddine & Adam went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, comfortable & they had plenty of recommendations for us to do in the city! It really may have been the best service we've ever received at a Hotel/Riad. That includes the fantastic Chef & Housekeeping, as all the food was top notch, and the place was spotlessly clean! I honestly can't recommend this place enough. If you're considering other places, stop. You will absolutely love your stay at the Riad Dar Massai. It was in a great, safe area as well, that only took about 5-10 minutes to get to Jemaa el-Fna and the souks! Shkran Noureddine, Adam, and the rest of the staff at Riad Dar Massai! You made our trip extremely memorable. We will most certainly be back!

The service at this Riad was excellent - all due to the professional and attentive efforts of Souffian. It is very hard not to like this place and its charming hosts. First, this Riad is located in the kasbah, which is the old city of Marrakech. You will get picked up by a driver and he will drop you off on the main artery. The host of the Riad will pick you up and walk you through a labyrinth of old cobble-streets that are not wider than your hallway at home. Once you get through them .. several left turns and a couple of right turns you will land on an undescript front door. Don't be fooled, get ready to be completely enchanted by the decor, the details, the colours, the smells - you will step into a time machine that will take you back to an epoc where time stood still. The rooms are unique, each one with its theme and colours. The room I stayed at was spacious with ample room to move around. The bed was a queen size with an enchanting entrance into a marvellously decorated bathroom in a terra-cotta colour. The water pressure on the shower was strong and the hot water was instantaneous. The morning breakfast is prepared by a kind lady, but she arrives after 8am. The breakfast is very light ... don't expect a hearty meal. The hosts are always there, to answer questions and to engage in discussion of all kinds. Sitting in the Riad by the inground pool is a delight. The sunshine seeps through the top comings to give you just enough ambiance to put the setting in place. They all speak several languages, so they can accommodate you very well. Having lunch and dinner, I strongly suggest you roam around the streets and sit in any of the local cafés to have a meal. You will be pleasantly surprised at the quality. The name of the property is Massai, the host said it was because of the owner's belief the Riad was home to people from the Massai tribe. In fact, this is an old Jewish property, as the symbols on the wall are clearly pointing to that. Go up the stairs and onto the terrasse to appreciate a view of the top of the city... There is no TVs and no phones ... but this place will be memorable for many years to come

We were originally booked into another (posher) Riad, but could not have been more delighted with Dar Massai. In a quiet street accessed by a busy local (not touristy) market, very close to main sites such as the Saadian Tombs and the Badi Palace, this smallish Riad is run by four utterly charming, kind and welcoming people who could not have done more to make us feel welcome. The rooms were delightful (we had a different one on our return from the Agafay desert), the decor tasteful and decorated with original artifacts and the breakfasts and dinner superb, home cooked in a small kitchen and full of variety. The hotel was as quiet as can be imagined until the call to prayer was broadcast over the speakers from the nearby mosque! But that is all part of the Marrakech experience. We cannot recommend this Riad too highly.

Beautiful clean place. Very kind and welcoming staff. Can't say enough about them. Also special thanks to Adam who goes above and beyond to help us. We don't have local number, so he called tour operator on our behalf when we don't hear back from the tour. He also went out to convenience store to get small bills/changes in order to give us change (and this was around 11ish late at night). There was hiccup on the communication with riad regarding taxi and meal. 1.We arrived 1hr earlier than planned and informed riad about it 5-6hr in advance(through whatsapp) for pickup. No response. And we waited 45min until the taxi came (glad there's wifi in train station). It seems taxi driver informed riad that we didnt wait in the right spot thats why driver cant see us. In reality, we were at the right spot, and we can see ALL taxi ins and outs of the taxi 'station'. 2.Riad provided menu through email so we can have idea what to order for dinner when we arrive. On the arrival day, there was no menu.We just ate whatever served.Delicious food though. But it should be made clear in the beginning so guests can decide to eat out or dine in. Overall, it's still a great place to stay.

Booked a four night stay as an anniversary escape, host was very welcoming initially, we were greeted with tea and biscuits upon entry and made aware of all the local excursion he offered. On the second night however I had a nosebleed and as a result got a little bit of blood on the sheets and pillows, now in a normal scenario I understand there may be a laundering charge or an attempt to clean the items, however we were greeted with a bill of over £250 for a brand new quilt, pillow and covers!! He was very pressuring on us paying there an then and the fact there couldn’t possibly be any way they could be cleaned, we refused and said we would correct the situation... After working for a day to remove the majority of the blood the sheets were checked and apparently were not up to par for the host and he proceeded to berate us to pay... after protesting they simply needed a wash for 30 minutes the maid came to our aid and argued our case claiming she would be able to remove the little that was left, we never saw the host for the rest of the trip as he avoided us due to the drama that was caused ... fortunately we were not charged however it was way more of a struggle that it should have been for a young couple such as ourselves, I felt as though he was trying to take advantage of us and was very unreasonable! God bless the maid who assisted us! I feel as though this added to the Moroccan experience! Everyone is out to make money of you, beware!

Most of the staff were nice but the manager, Youseff, is deceiving. He tried to charge us for having our 3yr old son with us even though children stay free at this property. He tried to make us pay the night before our check-out as no other staff were present then (we think he wanted to pocket the money), we refused and escalated the situation to the owner, who took our side in the matter. Hot water is a luxury in the property and therefore only 1 person can shower every 45 minutes. The heater in the room wasn't working either. The "swimming pool" was not kept and looked disgusting. The property was also located in a very dirty and rundown area of the city. This property is not child friendly at all. I would not recommend it.

Perfectly location, tucked away in the slightly quieter Kasbah Medina, Khadija and staff looked after us very well. Breakfast was superb, our room was lovely and warm for the December nights. We did not partake of dinner, but the smells from the kitchen were heavenly. Behind the Saadien Tombs and less than 5 minutes from the El Badi palace, the local restaurants are superb and the Kasbah is a great spot if you want a break from the main square and souks, which are a 10- 15 minute walk. This is a 5 bed roomed Riad, with thankfully, absolutely no sign of nightclub or casinos bar as per small print here.

Nice Riad in a good location. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The pool wasn’t very inviting, breakfast was very simple, but still good. Pressure in the shower was terrible, but I feel that it’s water issue in all Marrakech. This Riad would really benefit from putting mini fridges in the rooms as when it’s so hot you really want to have cold water or cold drinks while staying there and not always want to buy from the Riad as it is more expensive than in the local shop. In general I would stay there again, the vibe was great.

Lovely clean riad, nicely decorated with African theme, with lots of quiet spots to sit in. Comfortable beds and warm functional shower (unlike many found elsewhere in the country). Staff were friendly. We had dinner one night, which was a delicious tajine and one of the best I have tried. Breakfast was the usual Morocco high carb fare but adequate. The only issue is that sound can easily carry (not unusual for a riad), but one night there were a bunch of particularly noisy guests.

if you want an authentic stay in a lovely Riad close to many sight seeing attractions this is the place to stay. The riad is impeccably clean and the staff are attentive and helpful. We enjoyed purchasing a nice bottle of wine from them and sitting and drinking it in the roof terrace after a busy day of sight seeing. There is no coffee or tea making facilities in the room and the only improvement I would suggest is perhaps a complimentary bottle of water each would be a nice touch.

The Riad is so clean and beautifully decorated, the rooms are also very comfortable and clean. They give you an experience tailored to you, by always putting your comfort and needs first. The staff cook whatever you request. The area it’s located in is a good distance from the airport, they also have a good shuttle service. This was a lovely riad with only 5 rooms. We had the top floor room with direct access to the rooftop terrace. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Arriving at Riad Dar Massai after a long slog through the Atlas mountains was a real pleasure. It is a lovely environment which has been decorated beautifully and is located very conveniently for the main square. We felt very well looked after and the service was fantastic - Youssef in particular was extremely helpful throughout. We had a wonderful stay at Riad Dar massai, friendly owner and staff, and the food is fantastic. Its a 10 minute walk from the main square, next to the Saadian tombs. The riad is very clean and has a lovely roof terrace. I will be returning here in the future.

We arrived and were given a warm welcome with lovely tea and cakes in the courtyard. We chatted about our plans for the next day and were given a map and advice on where to eat. Yousef went as far as to go to the bus station to buy our onward tickets for us to make sure we got bookings for the bus we wanted without eating into our limited time in Marrakech. The friendliness continued the next day and we had a delicious breakfast on the roof terrace. The riad was quiet and comfortable and we slept well. If I hadn't pre-booked our next day's accommodation we would have been very tempted to stay another night.

The owner was charming, offering us a larger room as the one we had booked wasn't ready. The manager recommended a sightseeing route and a lunch spot and ordered a taxi. The riad was delightfully furnished and equipped, has a rooftop terrace and is a 15 min walk from Djemaa el Fna. Overall I would recommend this venue very strongly.

It was a very different experience if you compare it with an hotel, excellent customer service, very helpful and kind. The only problem is that you can't pay in hotel with credit card, but I was aware of it before the stay.

We stayed at Massai for three nights and it was the most relaxing and tranquil setting in Morocco. The riad is beautiful and the location is ideal being just a short walk from the medina and Jamaa el fna. All the suggestions by the staff were great especially stall 14 at the food market. It's a must visit! Thanks so much for a lovely stay! -Randy and Saadia

Fantastic hotel, really convenient location close to the main square with bars and restaurants a 5 minute walk away. The staff were fantastic - on hand when we needed anything but invisible when we were relaxing on the terrace or by the pool. Best of all was the breakfast - different everyday but always delicious, and served whatever time we wanted - excellent for a lazy morning. The room was big and comfortable with a good size bathroom. 5 out of 5!
