The riad was beautiful and a perfect location from the main square, about a 5 minute walk. It was easy to get to everything in the Medina. The riad was gorgeous and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The staff was amazing, particularly Abraham who welcomed us and get us great information avoid Marrakech. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to return on my next trip to Marrakech.

The Riad le J is a tiny and beautiful riad. Silence dominates in the night. Bed was very confortable.

Direi praticamente tutto: Accoglienza, colazione, posizione, pulizia, possibilità di organizzare un trasporto per l'aeroporto, orario del check molto comodo, nonostante sia difficile da trovare, il personale fornisce una mappa dettagliatissima e ci sono i cartelli che indicano la posizione del Riad, L'arredo molto curato;

Cons: Unico appunto, La doccia andrebbe sistemata: controllare drenaggio dello scarico, acqua difficile da miscelare (ma devo dire che per fortuna l"acqua calda non mancava anzi), porta cornetta rotto;

Beautifully designed riad. Stylish furniture and decor throughout. Nice breakfast. Convenient location for the medina.

Cons: Beds not super clean. Bedding ok, but pillows and mattresses not as clean as they should be. The approach to the riad is very off putting. The alleys around are full of rubble and poorly lit. The room we had was impossible to ventilate with air from outside without opening doors and windows to the corridor leading to neighbouring rooms. We didn’t feel safe leaving these open at night. The air conditioning was too noisy to use at night.

Our room at Riad le J was large and comfortable and the rooftop terrace was a beautiful spot for relaxing and watching the sunset. Breakfast was plentiful although there there didn't seem to be much choice. The Riad is right in the heart of the medina, so close to a lot of the main attractions and good places to eat. It was beautifully furnished in quite a formal style, always a surprise to find such places down twisty alleys.

Cons: We were travelling from Essaouira by bus and I contacted the Riad in good time to ask if someone could meet us from the bus station. Unfortunately they were not able to help and just sent google map directions which would have been completely useless as it was down some very narrow, dark and twisty alleys in the medina. We ended up paying about Eu17 for a guide, a wheelbarrow carrier and the craziest tuk tuk drive ever, through those narrow streets and alleys - an experience definitely, but I would have appreciated a bit more help from the Riad.

Superb, clean, central little hostelry bang in the middle of everything. Ibrahim is a total gent. Breakfast is charming and the room is spotless with aircon and heating. We stayed in Pepper. Slightly tricky to find down winding narrow streets in the central Medina but worth it for the quiet and quick access to all the sights.

Nice design internally.

Cons: The staff were disengaged and not very friendly, so unlike other places in Morocco we did not feel welcome. The exception to this was Ibrahim who was great. The location is at the end of a dirty alley where there is a lot of building work. We had to step through wet cement many times when coming and going. We would not stay here again.

Cons: We were disappointed in this stay. The room and especially the bathroom have seen better days. While it was not bad by any measure, for the price of 120.00 euro per night we expected a bit more comfort, upkeep and cleanliness. Also, the location in the maze of streets with construction and rubble right next door detract from the experience.

Jitka

Cons: We were disappointed in this riad. We based our stay on the recommendations written in The Telegraph travel section, but the review there must have been several decades old. While the place does have a nice Art Deco design in the common area, a lot of the furnishing in the rooms has become considerably shabby over time, the bathroom fixtures were broken, broken hook for towels, overall feeling of mustiness and old dirt in the shower and the room as well. The breakfast was fine but nothing amazing - a boiled egg, jar of yogurt, butter, jams, laughing cow cheese and several types of bread. While the evening attendant person was decidedly nice, the ladies during the day did not seem very eager to please the guests and we had rather a feeling of being a bother to them. Plus it was really hard to find this place in the maze of narrow streets, with some houses in rubble just next to the building. As no car or taxi can get here, we initially spent a long time looking for the riad, lugging around our heavy luggage. For all these reasons, we obviously cannot recommend this accommodation.

We chose this riad because of the stylish decor , central location and the personal service- it is small so you feel very well looked after. The rooftop seating is romantic at sunset and a fresh start in the morning . The breakfast was superb- egg, breads, pastries, cake, yogurt and fruit. You feel like you have been a guest at a friend's house.

Cons: You will need to walk from Bab Lakssour gate to reach riad. We carried ou backpacks but you can get a chariot for bags.

We loved the stylish decor and art pieces. The member of staff ( Ibrahim?) who stayed till midnight after the airport security delays and then arrange our taxi transfer the next day went over and above, so pleasant and kind. The breakfast was a delicious spread of breads, fruits, cheese, honey and a lovely creamy yogurt . Central location is great for exploring Marrakech. Rooftop terrace was fabulous gor views out over city to the Atlas

Cons: Little hard to find but mostly down to us doing it at midnight! Google maps snd some local chaps just about got us there. You can't get a taxi close, it is about a 9 min walk

Great interior design, friendly stuff, central location

Cons: 1. Windows and doors are old and at night you can hear all sounds around, also see the light through little halls in the window. But I had that also in another riad, it might just be how the houses are in the old centre of Marrakesh 2. The street is not lively. I would not recommend for female solo travellers. Even though Marrakesh is a very safe city, this street just feels dodgy at night

Peaceful location in the heart of the medina

Cons: I needed to check out a day early so explained to staff that I would be out in the morning return to rest in the afternoon and then check but had already paid for the night ahead too, which I understood couldn’t be changed - but my bed was stripped and not re-made and towels removed in the morning so I couldn’t freshen up or rest. Disappointing end to the trip.

*The place is very beautiful; the architecture, the decoration, the style, the details. *The bed sheets were very very clean; in an oustanding way; this is great!!! *It has a beautiful and special terrace *Easy to manage *Attentive staff *They offer you mint tea when you get to the place...very nice!!!

Cons: *The breakfast was not fresh and offered a very narrow menu; it would be great if the breakfast has more fresh and healthy ingredients, and that changes more from day to day. We didnt like the breakfast, in general. *Not all the persons of the staff speak English; this makes the communication a little difficult sometimes. *The laundry machine was not working.

The Riad is located quite central, not far from the Jemaa el Fnaa. I always felt safe walking there alone, just after sunset it gets very dark in the alleys to the Riad, especially on one day I could not see a thing and needed the flashlight of my phone. Staff is friendly and breakfast is nice. A big plus to me is the fact that you can take the keys to your room and the entrance door to the Riad with you, so you don't have to ring the bell all the time when you return.

Cons: Both times that I stayed at this Riad the bedding had hair from another person on it. And unfortunately I seem to be allergic to something in the Riad because both times I stayed there the area around my eyes was swollen in the morning and my breakout was bad and I did not have this in other Riads. This (allergy) is why I will probably not return to the Riad, although everything else was okay.

The staff were absolutely lovely and very attentive, with recommendations of restaurants and how to navigate the small alleyways around Marrakech. The airport pickup also ran very smoothly - we had a taxi from the airport as planned with contact details for the driver (who kindly waited for us as our flight ran late) and someone to meet us in the city to show us how to get to the Riad (slightly tricky to find first time but the Google maps location for the Riad is accurate). Overall really enjoyed our stay! Thanks

Cons: Bed mattress was not very comfortable and only a thin sheet provided (no blankets) so got a bit cold overnight. Air con was good for when it was warmer during the day!

Cons: There is a plastic canopy covering the roof of the riad which I found stifling. No airflow til you go up to the terrace. But there is good aircon in the room. The bed situation is odd! One very hard and the other very soft making up a double.

What a lovely place, calm, relaxing and friendly. The staff could not have been more helpful and giving of their time and patience. On arrival you get a map and a wee tour of the immediate area so you know how to find your way to and from the riad. Ibrahim booked excursions for us and then met us to make sure we got on the right transport and when I wanted to go hot air ballooning at silly o'clock in the morning he was ther topersonally escort me through the medina to my pick up point. The riad had a porter to take our luggage and show us the way into the medina to find the riad. The riad arranged for a porter to take our luggage back to the original spot of our driver at the end of our stay. One of the managers took us on the route to the main square. The location of the riad was almost the center of the medina and equal distance from important sites.

The Staff was very friendly and helpful and the riad has a Great rooftop where you can have an overview of the Medina - exceptional. The breakfast was also very nice, where the staff provided us with more local fruits and vegetables.

Cons: The hotel is located in the very middle of the Medina, where it is a difficult to find it. We arrived in the night and we were frightened to walk through the empty Medina by night. I recommend to get a guide to find it since Google maps do not work properly to find it. Besides that the bathroom is rather old and provide water for the shower usually less than needed. We adapted very quickly to it but we did not expect to have shower difficulties for that price.

I want to say that, in all honesty, my rating would be a 4.5. There were two main highlights of our stay at Riad Le J: each room has AC and the staff is phenomenally helpful. Talking with Ibrahim was a treat, and he was more than happy to help us plan out our time in Marrakech with suggestions of where to go, what to eat, and friendly advice for the medina streets. The riad is very hard to find, but the staff realizes that. Before we arrived, we were provided a map of the three closest entrances and how to get to the riad, so while the riad is tucked away in the medina, you're not left on your own to find it. However, the map could use some bigger landmark pictures. You can see the current ones, but you've gotta squint.

All the staff was exceptionally friendly, kind, and helpful, to the point of leaving the riad to show us the way to go. The breakfast was delicious and very abundant, it held us through to the evening meal. The room was lovely, very clean, and quiet. A beautiful experience.

Cons: My only negative comment is the sunken tub/shower...if I had better eyesight and equilibrium it would be very romantic lol!

Beautifully decorated, very clean. Great location in a wonderful part of the medina— Riad itself is very quiet but very close to lots of great shops and restaurants

Cons: Riad was a little hard to find when we arrived — but then we got used to the location and grateful it’s in a calm area of the medina

The riad was pretty special, lovely decoration and atmosphere. we had the Canelle room on the very top, and it was very spacious, quiet and private. Antonio and his staff are super helpful and friendly; special thanks to Ibrahim who gave us directions many times to find our way around the maze inside the Medina. Make sure that you ask for directions to naigate the allies within the walls, this riad (as many others) is right in the middle of the walled area next to the souks, and it is very easy to get lost if you don't ask for help. Google maps dos not recognise the inside allies, so ask for directions.

Love this place. The decor is well curated and gives this airy zen vibe. They have a lovely rooftop patio where you can sit and enjoy the sunset. It's located in the heart of the medina, so it's a bit tough to find the first time, but once you find it, it's very easy to find again. The service was great, all three staff members were super friendly. We're not big breakfast people, but I have to admit the breakfast (included) was really amazing. The fresh juice and yoghurt were amazing. They had this sweet bread that my husband loved. The rooms are small, but enough for two people. I would suggest they offer better shampoo/body wash options, the antique vials of random goo were a bit sketchy. The only time I would not book this place is if you want a party hotel, this riad doesn't have much sound reduction, and it was more of a come-in/go right to bed after a later night elsewhere in the medina, not a place that serves drinks or is set up for a party scene.

We had the room on the top floor. It was large, airy, light and spacious (larger than the photos suggest). The staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Antonio, the owner, helped us with great information about local restaurants and things to visit. He also organised all our transfers (we went to Essaouira for a few days). Riad Le J is in a great location, very quiet but right in the centre of the Medina. We loved it.

the property is beautifully decorated and the staff were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to help us, especially Ibrahim- thank you. the mint tea we were served was fantastic.

Cons: although it’s very close to the big square and the buzz of the medina. it was very hard to find- but this is the case with most riads in the medina . the property is smaller than expected. the breakfast could do with improvements.

A lovely contemporary Riad with clean, spacious rooms. The roof terrace is great for relaxing at sunset. Staff were great, Ibrahim in particular was very helpful. Nice breakfast though limited ‘savoury’ options. Location is right in the heart of the medina which has its benefits and drawbacks - see below.

Cons: We weren’t given very clear instructions for finding the place (hint it’s very easy to find once you reach Fontaine Mouassine but we weren’t told this). Also can be a pain getting stuck behind all the crowds in the souks.

We absolutely loved our stay. The Riad is right in the heart of the Medina but tucked away from the hustle and bustle. When you arrive in Marrakech, you will only be driven to the walls of the Medina since cars are not allowed inside. I recommend paying someone to walk you to the Riad b/c it will be a maze and quite overwhelming otherwise. Your taxi driver should be able to help you do this. The Riad itself was absolutely stunning. The rooms felt luxurious and were tastefully decorated in an Art Deco style which I loved! I found the beds to be super comfortable and I slept really well (though I will say the Moroccans like a hard bed. My personal preference but maybe not for everyone). The shower was amazing. Breakfast was really good - especially the coffee! I couldn't get enough of it. It was excellent even by London standards (as one would expect from an Italian owner). Antonio was super helpful from the start. He helped us arranged a transfer from the Atlas Mountains and then gave a brief tour of the immediate area on our arrival (it is easy to get lost in the Medina). The staff organised a tour of the city with an excellent guide. All-in-all, it a wonderful stay!

The location is very good. Right in the heart of the Medina but just enough away from the hustle bustle to have a very peaceful night's sleep. Very nice terrace though we didn't have much time to sit around and use it

Cons: The breakfast spread was minimal for vegetarians. And even amongst the same, the ladies providing the breakfast didn't serve some of the items on the second day... We decided to eat out the next morning. Not great for vegetarians

Nice welcome with tea, map and explanation on main points of interest. Reception 24/24. Brahim was always very kind and available in giving information. The riad is small but cozy and has a nice rooftop. Location was great!! Everything is clean. We stayed in 2 rooms : Menthe room and the cannelle room (much better).

Cons: The Menthe room- for the bed (half bed was hard and the other half soft and leaned on a side). Loud air conditioning noise at night.

My wife and I came here for a birthday celebration. This was our first visit and leading up to our stay, we received an email from the hotel checking what time we were arriving and if they could help us with anything. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was ready for us three hours early. Throughout the whole stay, we couldn’t fault anything. The room Menthe was incredible with beutiful colonial details. The thing that stood out to us were the staff, very well trained by Antonio the generous owner. They all were polite, attentive and most of all, sincere. The location was great - away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the Medina but easy enough to get there on a taxi. All in all a perfect stay and we most definitely will be back. Thank you.

Great little place - a boutique hotel just consisting of 4 rooms. Outstanding location in the center of the medina (Moussaine district). For most guests not that easy to find but once you managed to find it not too difficult to nagivate around. Very tastefully decorated common space and rooms with antique furniture and arts. Very spacious and comfortable rooms. Nice rooftop. Very friendly and helpful employees, especially Ibrahim from the night shift. Great breakfast. Clear "go". I really enjoyed my stay here and will certainly come again.

This is the second time we stayed at Riad Le J. It is perfectly situated in the center of Marrakesh. The breakfast is superb and sumptuous, the rooms are large and air conditioned with a private bath, and the common spaces are beautiful. It is a small riad and feels like a family home as the staff and owners are very attentive and helpful. And the value is excellent. Very highly recommended!!

Don’t try to find Riad Le J on your own. Just don’t. Seriously. This Riad is in the middle of the Marrakesh Medina and it’s nearly impossible to find. When I read reviews like this prior to coming to Morocco, I thought, “oh, maybe people aren’t used to making a few turns here and there.” No. Wrong. The Marrakech Medina is labyrinthine and crowded. The last thing you want to do when you’re tired and hot is to spend 45 minutes going up and down little passageways, hoping that THIS is the one! Trust me. Been there. Done that. Ask for the host to walk you in. Ok, with that out of the way, let’s talk about what’s special and great about Riad Le J. The breakfast – the BEST we had in Morocco. Ibrahim (thank you!) set up our delicious morning meal on the private terrace outside our lovely room (Cannelle – look up and don’t miss the ceiling!!) and it was delicious, fresh, and kept us going through mid-afternoon. The showers were excellent (and just what the doctor ordered after 2 days in the Sahara!) – good water pressure, and amazingly soft and fluffy towels, complete with big pompom tassels! Don’t miss the rooftop terrace!

Very cozy Riad. Excellent staff. The rooms look exactly as they are advertised. The staff was also very helpful in arranging taxi pick-ups (train station), drop-offs (airport) and for a private, all-day driver to the Imlil Valley (very worth it). I do not have his name but the man who stays in the hotel most evenings and makes breakfast the next day, made my trip for me. On my last night in Marrakech I was the only guest in the Riad. So he decided to accompany me to drop off some post cards are the post office. Hours later we were still out and he showed me parts of the city (and local foods) I would never have seen otherwise. We even took a city bus (about $1) to go to other parts of the city (less touristic) which I would not have thought of or known how to navigate. PS. There are no TVs (that's a good thing). It made the Riad perfectly quiet. If you want to catch a game then the Riad can direct you to bars or cafes that will have it. I would certainly stay here again

We had a lovely 4-night stay at Riad Le J. Abrahim was warm and welcoming and helped us, as needed. As others have stated, it is not typically Moroccan in decor, but that didn't bother us. It is not super easy to get to from the main square, but we found our way. Oh-one thing that I thought was odd is that our rooms didn't have locks and we didn't have key for the front door. The latter wasn't a problem, as we were always welcomed in quickly when we rang, and the former wasn't a problem, either--it was just not typical.

Although nicely decorated (but not really Morrocan) the experience here was... well unusual and I would not return. 99% of my reviews are 5*but tripdadvisors works because we want honest reviews. I was the only guest as apparently some of the rooms were being renovated and overall it felt isolated and quiet. I was awoken in the night by someone banging on the door to be admitted (I was the only guests) and in the morning two men where asleep (one face planted on the cement floor) behind a curtain on the main floor courtyard. No one was awake, breakfast was not ready and despite their alarm ringing - no one was waking up. My guide arrived (I let him in) and we decided to just leave them sleeping with their alarm ringing. Maybe comical at some level but on the other hand not really. Sorry Riad J - I'm pretty chill as an adult male traveler but other travelers and particularly young women travelling alone would have had the right to be very upset and somewhat worried. Bonne chance... I'm sure it was a glitch as your reviews are mostly strong

My husband and I stayed at Riad Le J for 4 nights total in April, two in the Safran room and two in the Menthe room, and had a great stay overall. The Riad is in a very convenient location, an easy walk down to Djemaa el-Fna, many of the major historic sites, souks, and restaurants. The staff at the Riad were helpful with suggestions and provided a good breakfast. The riad itself was nice- the rooms were pretty, comfortable, and generally quiet, as there are only four rooms (though, if you are a light sleeper like me, riads can be bit challenging with the central courtyard.) We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!
