This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The entire hotel feels special, and every single staff member was kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful. They helped us arrange an amazing tour with Rasheed and a day trip with Jamal. Jamal was fantastic! patient, friendly, and very reliable. He guided us through a full-day trip, and we also booked him again to drive us to Tangier. Truly a wonderful driver and companion for exploring the region.

You need to walk a little bit from the main street to get to the “golden door” of this riad as the lanes are so narrow. So if you have luggage it is best to find a porter with a cart. They hang out near the roundabout on the main street. The public areas of the riad are beautifully decorated and worth seeking out. Many spots for lovely photos. If you book here be sure to look at the room first before you accept it. I first had room #3 which was like a no-tell-hotel type room, furnished with old furniture, a broken down sofa, and rough wood shelves for the closet. The bathroom was large and nice nice. My guide requested another room for me, and I moved to #34, smaller, but tastefully furnished with a small bathroom. I was there three nights. The guide had the suite across from me, #35. The buffet breakfast is good and if is a nice day, take your plate outside to the rooftop terrace. Know that the woman by the buffet looks like a cashier, but she is custom making Mlawi bread - a delicious traditional bread. I didn’t discover this until the last day. The hotel is a collection of several buildings and it is easy to get lost. Don’t be shy about asking someone in reception to show you to your room. Wi fi îs good.

Cons: I reserved 3 months out, and the property sent a message saying there was a glitch in the system and they did not have availability. Fine, I booked another riad. Then a few days before my arrival, they tried to run my credit card and said they have availability. I asked them twice to cancel it. They tried to run my credit card 5 times. Fortunately they did not have the 3 digit code so they could not. They never did cancel it after multiple communications. Beware booking this riad.

We went to the riad for a dinner reservation and wished we had stayed there. The property is stunning and the service is on a very high level. Salma gave us a tour of the various areas of the riad and then had the best table by the pool beautifully set up for our dinner - she was so kind and welcoming, and so was our waiter (Azim?). The food was amazing too and the prices were very reasonable.

This is the place to stay in Fez. It is exceptional. The decor is classic Moroccan… extensive wood carvings, mosaic etc. the lobby and main dining room is incredible. We stayed in a large suite. It will fit for a king (I think someone in the royal family actually stayed at the hotel). Hamman was great. Moroccan Music at night. The only negative was the dinner was only a 7/10 (food was a bit dry). However, overall I would give this riad 9/10.

Rustic classic moroccan riad. Lobby is gorgeous due to a total renovation some years ago. However, the rooms do not reflect the same detail of attention. The room and bathroom is very basic. Shower head and faucets are not securely fastened and the shower is in desperate need of an upgrade. Breakfast buffet is ample and service is excellent. We were part of a Gate 1 trip and our group dinner of couscous was excellent. I would have preferred something upscale

We spent the afternoon in our cooking class after shopping for the ingredients and having the staff wash and prepare the vegeables and chicken. We were awestruck by the opulence of the raid which is a series of connected houses. Just exquisite and a friendly staff who took tons of videos of our cooking course that we will cherish.

My only wish is that our tour operator had chosen the Salam Fez for our stay. As it was we enjoyed a wonderful day cooking and eating with the help of the delightful staff - especially Lena who guided us in buying our ingredients in the souk and Ayesha for the preparation experience. Meanwhile we gasped at the opulence of the public rooms, the magnificent tiling and woodwork and ate our meal in the exquisite pool atrium. All the staff were attentive and pleasant. Other reviews and tips were highly amusing as these entitled guests have obviously not experienced the real Fes or Morocco!!

We spent two nights here during our visit to Fez. The riad is lovely. There is something beautiful where ever you look. Our room was large and had a nice seating area. The A/C - heating unit worked well and there was a nice shower. The pop up plug in the sink was good to have. The breakfast was lovely and we had dinner one night at the riad and it was very good as well. The location is within walking distance of the Blue Gate and the area is good. This was a lovely place to stay.

The hotel is beautiful and overall it was a good experience. The food at the restaurants was very good. (The chicken pastille is fantastic.) It does have some notable deficiencies, however: 1. WiFi is terrible. Literally no wifi signal in our room and dead spots around the hotel. Only the main lobby had decent wifi. The tv in the room had many channels but only a few worked. 2. The spa is one small, dark massage room with two tables and through that the hammam. There is no separate shower area for use before or after your spa treatment unless the treatment itself is the hammam. The massage tables have no hole for the face to breathe through, so face-down treatment is very uncomfortable. There is very little privacy to change out of clothes other than a tiny bathroom in the treatment room. After your spa treatment, unless you change back into your clothes at the spa, you have to walk thru the lobby in a bathrobe to get to your room. My wife did the hammam (wash and scrub) and said that was a good experience. I had a regular massage, which was amateurish and not worth it in my opinion.

Highly recommended, fantastic food, fantastic service, and fantastic atmosphere. It is a must. The staff was very friendly and were very engaging with all their guests. Very affordable it was a three course meal and plenty of food really too much to eat, but that’s what’s great about it.

Ancient large riad situated in the old town. Very beautiful decoration and special ambiance. Rooms have good facilities but especially in the restaurant heating system is not sufficient to afford the winter temperatures. Large and panoramic terrasse on the last floor gives you the opportunity to enjoy sunset. Staff is ensuring a good service but sometime a bit slow.

My family, friends and I had a short stay at this beautiful Riad. We wish our stay here could have been longer but we had many cities to visit in Morocco. This Riad's architecture and decor were so elegant. Our breakfast set-up was exceptional. The hospitality was marvelous. What a beautiful ambiance. I would love to stay here again when I return to visit the rest of Morocco.

We stayed at Riad Salam Fes as part of a Gate 1 tour group. It is unlike any place we have ever stayed. Ancient, historic and full of character. We had outstanding service especially from Bouchra, Ayoub and Zak. The dinner we had on Valentine’s Day was outstanding! Zak was attentive, friendly and took several photos as keepsakes. The food was lovingly prepared and delicious! We highly recommend a stay at this very unique property. We take home wonderful Moroccan memories!

I took the Moroccan cooking class with Amina(guide) and Monia (chef). They were both very informative and helpful. Amina took me shopping for the vegetables and spices and then Monia helped me through every step of the cooking. Within 2 hrs we had a delightful lunch of Chicken Tagine and 5 Moroccan salads. I’m ready to cook Moroccan dishes at home!! Thank you for a great experience.

This Riad is a historical architectural gem, right on the inside the old town of Fes. The staff are friendly , knowledgeable and helpful and made our stay perfect and memorable. The rooms are beautifully decorated , and comfortable. Our dinners and breakfast were a panoply of Moroccan delights wonderfully served by Amina and Mohamed. I highly recommend this Riad to get a true authentic experience of Fes.

Amazingly beautiful. Each room is different. Some construction going on to add rooms but did not affect my stay. Breakfast was very good. Lovely rooftop to end your day on. Was with a tour group so did not spend any time walking around the outside of the property for area suggestions.

The location like all Riads are complicated but the hotel is just beautiful well renovated, this is an Aba in general experience if you are looking fir a truly Morocco experience. Keep in mind that they old buildings with limited services on alcohol (only red wine) and all badrooms have a smell, no terrible but is not nice other but is base on the old deer system of the Médina not the hotel, any other ríad would be the same. I would be back.... there is no question

Pessima esperienza in tutti i sensi a volte l apparenza inganna.. Caro e pessimo servizio.. Mai più

It was very beautiful Riad - we enjoyed our stay. However we were charged for breakfast when we thought it was complimentary and when we arrived she told us breakfast is at 730 so we assumed it was she did not name a price we ended paying $12 each for nothing extroidinary. The most expensive meal we paid for in Morocco

Most amazing place I have ever seen. Great staff and hospitality. Place seems hidden and scary, but don’t be alarmed. Traveled alone with another female friend. People will try to be your guide just politely decline. Breakfast was awesome. Riad is close to Main square. Would recommend.

This was a great way to spend the day in Fes. From the Médina tour to buy our ingredients to the absolutely stunning Riad courtyard where we learned to prepare the meal. Our hosts made sure everything was easy to understand the the food turned out delicious! I loved learning about Morocco cuisine and hopefully can replicate these recipients when I get home. Highly recommend.

Excellent experience led by Jamila & mounia! We started with a market trip in the Médina for ingredients. We made classic tagine & delicious sides. The beautiful Riad itself is worth the trip. I’m looking forward to trying the recipes at home.

Excellent experience from start to finish. We started by going to the souk to buy fresh vegetables and chicken. Having that “local” experience is priceless. I love when I can see how everyday life is in a different part of the world. The class was set up in an unbelievably gorgeous green room, the recipes were delicious, and the chefs could not have been nicer. They were perfect! It was really such a lovely way to experience the culture of Morocco. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to do something different and experience the culture in a different way than your typical walking tour.

We came to Morocco on a tour and were fortunate to take a cooking class with Jamila. I highly recommend this experience. It started with shopping for fresh vegetables and chicken in the souk, and ended with cooking in an absolutely beautiful Riad. The food was excellent and Jamila was professional and supportive. I would definitely recommend booking this experience. If I ever come back to Morocco I will be sure to see Jamila again.

I recently spent 3 nights in this Riad..the renovations of this authentic riad are wonderful..the tile work, the wood carving..and especially the beautiful atriums with their fountains,ceilings..very authentic feel. My room was fine for 2 people..some friends said theirs was too small and asked for a bigger room, which they received. The bathrooms are well done-due to constraints in these old buildings, limitations on plumbing possibilities, the bathrooms are pretty basic but the showers and other necessities work well. I enjoyed staying here much better than a modern sterile hotel.I would also like to add that Jamila and Mohammed are 2 employees that really stood out, though were very helpful.Jamila works at the front desk-also seems to be helping out in many areas, worked hard to give us any information we needed, make suggestions..friendly,knowledgeable,professional/Mohammed seems to be a jack of all tribes, works in dining area, helps with luggage, and is geneally available everywhere! Always smiling and willing!

Gorgeous common areas restored with detail and beauty. Numerous indescribably beautiful interior courtyards. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They work and try hard and they all wear many hats. There are a few things amiss from making this a 5 star property - most in the details. For example, in my bathroom alone, 2 light bulbs were out or flickering, the toilet was broken in three different ways (seat, tank and plunger) and one light was falling out of the plaster. The chrome faucet had dirty water/toothpaste on it from the previous guest. My view (junior suite) was non-existent - it looked out onto a filthy glass panel that the bellman said they would clean but they didn’t. They are actively still doing construction work as of March 2019 and they start loudly at 6:30am. Some of the furniture was covered to protect it and scaffolding was in place with ropes around the pool. The housekeepers were great, but attempted to enter my room 4 times - all before 9am. The hotel description said they have 20 restaurants but I think they meant they had 20 tables / areas in the courtyard. I asked about dinner my first night and they said I have to choose then give them 2-3 hours to shop and prepare it - which is awesome, unless you expect a restaurant on site. I’d stay here again because the staff was so nice, but they need some help (perhaps from a consulatant) to truly make this a 5-star experience.

The people were super friendly and accommodating, especially Salma (front desk) and Mustafa (waiter). The place itself is beautiful -- covered with amazing tile work on the inside. The breakfast (included) was delicious and plentiful. We were recommended to this place by friends who had stayed in May, when the weather was warm. We were there at the end of November, and it was rainy and cold. The reason I mention this is that this building is not really set up for cold weather! The lobby is very drafty and has an open-air courtyard, close to where you eat breakfast. So it was always cold. Also, our rooms were right upstairs from the lobby and front desk. Since everything is tiled and there are windows that open onto the stairwell (no glass, just wooden shutters), it was quite noisy at night. The beds were ok, not super comfortable. But the location just inside the Medina is perfect for walking everywhere, and the wonderful staff really made our stay pleasant.

We spent 2 wonderful nights in the Riad Salam Fes. It was extraordinary! The Riad was everything the pictures indicated it would be---authentic Moroccan feel, beautiful architecture and furnishings and a wonderful staff. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the most incredible smell of jasmine, oranges and rose water as we were checked into our room. The room itself was fantastic. It was comfortable, yet felt like we had traveled back in time by several hundred years to the Morocco that we had hoped to see! Each morning we were served a very large breakfast in a beautiful porcelain tile walled room at the side of a fireplace. The hotel staff was kind, responsive to our needs and available at any time day or night. The front door can be a little hard to find, as it is located in a very narrow street that requires walking about 400 meters from the road where a taxi can drop you off. There is signage, but without the help of a friend from Fes that was with us, we would have been hard-pressed to find it on our own the first time. However, the next morning, when we left to explore the Medina, this was a huge advantage as we were able to walk directly from the Riad and find ourselves in the middle of the old city of Fes.
