La localisation dans la médina.
Cons: Ma compagne et moi avons été extrêmement déçus de ce riad. La chambre, bien que spacieuse, était humide, sentait le renfermé et il y avait des moisissures dans la salle de bains qui ne comportait pas de fenêtres. Il y faisait froid et la douche n'avait de l'eau chaude que pour quelques minutes. Bien que nous soyons conscients que cela ne dépende pas de la volonté des propriétaires, nous étions réveillés chaque matin à 8h30 par des bruits de travaux et de mouettes. Pas de communication entre les équipes jour/nuit. Nous avons été contraints de retirer du cash en arrivant alors que le paiement par carte était supposé marcher via Booking. Les petits déjeuners et l'accueil du personnel étaient cependant corrects. Au total, cette expérience n'était pas horrible mais loin de la parenthèse de relaxation que nous avions imaginé. Je pense que le prix est trop élevé pour le service octroyé, mais cela peut vous correspondre si vous ne faites que passer sur Essaouira.

Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und ruhig. Sie liegt direkt in der Altstadt, was die Lage perfekt macht. Das Personal war außerdem sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Insgesamt herrschte eine angenehme und traditionelle Atmosphäre, die gut zu einem Aufenthalt in Essaouira passt.
Cons: Das heiße Wasser im Badezimmer hat leider nicht richtig funktioniert. Man musste oft sehr lange warten, bis es warm wurde, und manchmal wurde es danach sofort wieder kalt. Das war unangenehm und ziemlich anstrengend, besonders nach einem langen Tag.

Cons: Unprofessional, unfriendly staff. While on the bus from Marrakech - a 4h trip - we received a Booking notification that our credit card did not go through, and the reservation would be cancelled if this was not corrected within a couple of hours. This was very odd, as the CC worked perfectly in Morocco, and in any case, the arrangement was for cash payment on arrival. Still, I resubmitted the CC, which was accepted by Booking, but a while later the card was again rejected by the Hotel. I resubmitted a different card, and again Booking accepted it, but the hotel rejected it. I messaged the hotel, and they said that they want me to cancel the reservation, but that I will still have it when I show up in a few hours. I refused to cancel the reservation, as I became concerned that I will show up in Essaoiura and have no place to stay, and no recourse with Booking. The whole trip to Essaouira was very stressful. The hotel kept refusing the card, and I kept reentering it. Eventually, we arrived in Essaouira, and ran to the hotel, to be there before the last cancellation deadline. I paid in cash as originally requested, and received the room, which was fine. However, the receptionist, who admitted that she was the one rejecting my card, was rather aloof. Some time after I paid for the entire 5-day stay, my reservation was still cancelled! The stay was fine, with the exception of interaction with the reception, which, depending on which receptionist was there, was quite cold and not flexible. On the last day, our bus was in the morning, such that we needed the breakfast to be 15 minutes early. The day before, that receptionist refused to agree, but the next day we did get the breakfast 15 minutes early. Strangely, a month after the reservation was cancelled, it was reinstated, which allowed me to write this review.

Cons: Lo único que podría decir es que no faciliten la impresión de la tarjeta de embarque puesto que en todo Marruecos es necesario llevarla impresa al aeropuerto, el sitio donde te las imprimen estafan un poco, un euros por copia, si vas a sitios locales 1 céntimo!

Cons: Right after I booked the riad, I received a message saying “for those who chose to leave bad comments, you are wasting your energy for nothing because bad reviews don’t appear on Booking”. Honestly, this was really unsettling to read even before arriving. Unfortunately, my stay reflected that attitude, the shower kept going cold every few minutes, making it very frustrating to use, and the WiFi only worked for one day during my stay. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and definitely not one of the better places I’ve stayed in Essaouira.

Es bonito, limpio y muy bien ubicado, en todo el centro de la Medina, con muchos comercios y restaurantes cerca. Nos alojamos en la habitación familiar para cinco ( tres adolescentes) y El baño es muy amplio y funciona de maravilla.
Cons: No me gustó que no me permitieran pagar con Visa, la chica que nos hizo la recepción nos dijo que debía ser efectivo, no habían avisado previamente. En Booking se indica que se puede pagar con tarjeta. Tampoco nos avisó que el desayuno había que contratarlo con antelación. Las escaleras son difíciles de subir, los peldaños son irregulares. Y aunque la terraza es muy agradable, son demasiadas escaleras. ( no quiero pensar una familia con bebé, tener que subirlo en brazos tres pisos), tampoco aptos personas mayores La habitación para cinco es amplia, y bonita, pero no había ningún armario ni nada para poder colgar la ropa, ni sitio para poner las maletas.

Cons: Wij werden zeer slecht behandeld door de dame bij de receptie. Zij was erg bot en onvriendelijk. De kamer was om 14:00 uur nog steeds niet beschikbaar, waardoor wij lang moesten wachten. Toen wij vroegen om een kamer om ons om te kleden, zodat zij rustig onze kamer kon schoonmaken, werd dit op een onvriendelijke manier geweigerd. In plaats daarvan werden wij verwezen naar het toilet als omkleedplek, terwijl dit toilet niet eens op slot kon. Bovendien was er op de eerste dag geen warm water.

Room and shower was clean and comfortable. Not a luxury riad but good value for money. HOWEVER…… on booking you get an email that seems like it is written by a Moroccan Basil Fawlty ….Quite stern detailing acceptable behaviours and wanting a deposit etc quite off putting tbh, but by the sound of it they’ve obviously had some horrible people stay there ….. Ignore the email as staff are really friendly and it’s quite relaxed.

Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Sehr schönes und stilvolles Riad, mitten in der Medina und trotzdem strandnah.
Cons: Wir waren im Januar dort und es wurde abends sehr kalt. Infolgedessen war es in unserem Zimmer sehr feucht und kalt, unsere Kleidung sowie die Handtücher waren total klamm und rochen modrig. Was allerdings an der Jahreszeit gelegen haben kann, im Frühjahr oder Sommer kann es natürlich ganz anders sein. Außerdem wäre es schön gewesen, wenn unser Zimmer ab und zu geputzt worden wäre. Nach 5 Tagen Aufenthalt sehen der Fußboden und das Bad dann doch nicht mehr so sauber aus.

First of all, we were supposed to stay at the Riad , once we got there, we were told that the room we reserved they are doing construction on it , we were given an apartment outside of the Riad in a scary neighborhood, the apartment sheets , blankets and pillows so stinky! When we ask the lady that we don’t want to stay here , she simply responds with you can cancel if you want, on the top of that , they asked us to pay fee that it’s called a property taxes cash , which it’s already paid in the beginning that I have it in the confirmation invoice! They are scammers, not honest, they zero customer service ( not recommended at all )

Good location and you can dry your washing on the rooftop terrace. Car rental worked fine.
Cons: There is no heating and when you ask for extra blankets you don't get them. It is very cold. The owners themselves of course have heating in their own room in the house. Breakfast is very basic and not included in the price. There are a lot of better and cheaper places around the corner. I told them I wanted breakfast at 8 to be able to catch a bus and they insisted it should be at 8.15 so I had to rush.

The location was excellent and the riad was quiet and comfortable. Staff were very nice. For 100 DH they washed and dried our laundry for us.

Cons: The room had a wet dingy smell. The floors were dirty. Very thin walls- I could hear my neighbor cough. The person at the desk the night I stayed kept playing music or playing clips at midnight, which was easily heard. It was warm in the room; better with the window open, but considering that opens to the hallway with no safety feature couldn't leave that open when sleeping.

A measure of any customer experience should be how you are treated when things go wrong. I was travelling in Morocco with a young child and had pre-booked this boarding house for our arrival in Essaouira. I paid for two nights and deposit was paid first, all done online as I was still in Marrakesh at the time. Unfortunately, we lost our belongings in Marrakesh including my mobile phone and all my cards. With the emergency and stress of the situation, I was delayed being able to reach the Riad for check in. In fact, we fell to the mercy of strangers to help us eat and find a place in Marrakesh that night. With help I called and email Riad Sidi Magdoul, and also contacted the Trip.com platform about my disaster. Riad Sidi Magdoul staff showed no understanding or goodwill at all, saying “the proprietor was unavailable” and therefore they could or would do nothing to cancel the booking. I fully expected to lose my deposit as I could not get to Essaouira in time, but these criminals took all my money for the entire two nights, despite the urgency of my situation and knowing I was with a child. They did not care at all. For this reason, I would like to give them no stars. I don’t care how great your accommodation is, if you cannot offer the least goodwill to somebody in a situation beyond their control, you are not worth a damn. They were and are disgusting to take all my money like that. I love Morocco and most people behave with decency and professionalism, but I will be sure to warn friends, family and other travellers away from this dive. Give Riad Sidi Magdoul what it deserves and STAY AWAY.

Das traditionelle Haus liegt ziemlich genau in der Mitte der Altstadt. Daher idealer Ausgangspunkt für das schlendern durch die belebten Straßen mit ihren Verkaufsläden, Cafes, Restaurants usw…. Vom großen Parkplatz vor der Medina geht man bis zur ersten breiten Verkaufsstraße und biegt nach links ab. Ungefähr in der Hälfte dieser Straße (bis zum großen Tor) zwischen zwei Neubauten (grüner Sichtschutz), nach rechts zum Hotel Mogador. Wer zuerst zur zweiten Querstraße gegangen ist, biegt 2x nach links ab….
Cons: zu Beginn gab es kein Warmwasser, vermutlich technisch. Defekt

I liked the location in the middle of the medina. The staff members were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was not very special but sufficient to start the day. Wifi connection was strong and working. Nice rooftop terrace.
Cons: The supply of hot water. There is a problem with the boiler and reguraly the hot water didn't work of it stopped working in the middle of a shower. We complained and the staff did check the boilers but the problem wasn't completely solved. The rooms look ok but they are a bit dated, our room had a broken shower head wich resulted in half the water spraying sideways.

Cons: Gros problème d’arrivée d’eau chaude, eau très froide ou bouillante, ce qui rendait les douches très désagréables. Autre désagrément, une odeur d’égout dans la salle de bain qui malheureusement se répandait dans la chambre.

Cons: Geboekt via Booking.com voor een bepaald bedrag. Maar we moesten terplekke betalen en dit kon alleen in Dirham. Het bedrag dat we moesten betalen was hoger dan het bedrag waarvoor we het hadden geboekt. Ook was er tijdens het inchecken veel gedoe en onduidelijkheid over kamers die voor 1 persoon waren geboekt, maar waar we volgens hen met 2 personen in moesten. Wij hadden echter allemaal een eigen kamer geboekt. Uiteindelijk is het goed gekomen.

What a beautiful Riad, everyone has been super friendly, helpful , knowledgeable and smiling. The hotel is lovely and clean, nothing is too much trouble. The reception staff go above and beyond to help and the lady that serves breakfast is always lovely with a good selection of food every day. Always welcomed with a smile. The Riad is very centrally located in the median and a 5 minute walk to either the port or beautiful sandy beach. Definitely recommend

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und wir haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Das Zimmer und das Bad waren geräumig und komfortabel. Zuerst dachten wir, dass es sehr hellhörig werden könnte, weil die Fenster zum Korridor liegen, aber wir haben mit geschlossenen Fenstern nichts von den anderen Gästen gehört. Es war trotz geschlossener Fenster auch nicht heiß, weil es nachts (wir waren im Juli da) recht kühl wurde. Da waren wir froh, dass es eine Bettdecke gab, die mit einem Baumwoll-Bettbezug überzogen war.

It was our first riad in Morocco and after staying at other places we came back to stay here again before the flight. Really comfortable bed and very clean everywhere, including bathroom. Good size of the room and bathroom, sockets on each bedside and more. It's not too cold in the room and not too dark, as in some other ridas. Very quiet, nobody disturbs. Great location and short access to everything. Sunny terrace on the roof. Helpful and friendly stuff. Amin adviced us a good restaurant for the New Year's night and himself brought us to the airport at fair price. Overall very happy with this accommodation.
Cons: Bathroom door is not closing properly and loud ventilation there. Didn't bring us much inconvenience, it's just a typical thing for Moroccan hotels.

Located directly in a small alley off one of the main streets in the Medina. The alley looked dark but don’t get fooled, the Riad is lovely. There is a roof terras with good to catch some sun. No view though. Within the Medina you go by door and there are steep stairs so not great if you travel with a bulky suitcase. Better with a backpack only. Only the shower was not warm consistently in our room on second floor. Otherwise highly recommend for the prize.

La bona ubicació del Riad. Està al costat d'un dels carrers principals de la Medina i molt a prop d'un parking de cotxes, fet que ens ha anat molt bé ja que viatgem en cotxe. El llit i els coixins eren especialment còmodes.
Cons: L'esmorzar l'he trobat molt pobre, sobretot si comparo amb la resta d'allotjaments en els que hem estat durant les 3 setmanes que portem pel Marroc. El cafè era soluble, fet que ens ha sorprès. El lavabo era senzillet, a comparació amb la bonica habitació. També ens ha sorprès que el personal no parlés gens d'anglès, només parlen francès, fet que no ens havia passat a cap altre lloc. Malgrat que això no és culpa de l'allotjament, si et costa conciliar la son, tingues en compte que les gavines se senten molt! Com a mínim si dorms a l'habitació de a la terrassa.

We arrived early so our room wasn't ready. We did check in a drop the bags. When we went to collect the bags there was a whole family at the reception ( the owners i guess) and the french man wouldn't even get up from the couch the get the bags as he was lying down watching tv. After making some gestures he did. We were never informed about breakfast so we paid for breakfast outside the premises ( my bad for not checking my booking but I would have expected to be informed about at the check in). We were on the first floor and at night it got so loud as people was chatting in the reception until about 11 and some others coming and going. The lack of a water fountain makes the riad quite noisy. But overall is a good place to stay, clean and cute room and very well located.

予約した宿がWブッキングで宿泊出来ず、急遽予約し宿泊しました。 予約後5分後位に到着しましたが、暖かく迎えていただきました。部屋はWベッドが四畳半から6畳くらいの部屋に有り 窓を開けると 部屋の中が丸見えで閉めると暗かった。因みに 備品は手洗いソープとタオル位です。ドライヤー シャンプー ボディーソープ は持参が必要です 一番の問題はトイレの水が流れないことです。通常タンクの水が減ると、自動で配管から水が給水されますが、給水されずシャワーの水を自分でタンクに入れて使用しました。 シャワーの湯は不安定で 使用中突然湯だけになったり水だけになったり注意が必要です。 場所は非常にいい場所に有ります。 値段相応の宿だと思います

Los pusieron una lavadora que aparte de cobrarnos 10 euros por lavadora y secadora, la secadora ni la utilizaron porque la ropa quedó muy mojada y "desaparecieron" prendas de ropa de mi hijo que despues ni se molestaron en buscar ni les importo mucho y eso me hizo pensar... Hace mucho frío en las habitaciones! La verdad esque no nos quedamos con buen sabor de boca, el desayuno tampoco vale nada.

Stayed on 24-25 January 2019 after booking through Hostelworld. Staff were helpful and the room was lovely. Expected some noise from other guests, but it was pleasantly quiet all night. We had a very good night's sleep. The breakfast was brilliant: Fresh orange juice, yoghurt, pastries, bread, butter, jams and coffee. We would definitely stay here again.

With a plethora of beautiful Riad’s and hostels in Essaouira please don’t waste your money staying here. The hostel is falling apart and doesn’t look like the photos, it’s dark and damp. We had to wear thermals to go to sleep. The sheets were wet. The only window looks out to the courtyard which due to its height is incredibly dark. Although in saying that we stayed in a room near the top floor and it was still dark. Mould everywhere, paint peeling off the walls. We arrived after having booked a double room to be shown to a twin room where the beds sagged so much in the middle I don’t think they’ve been changed for twenty years. After an hour back and forth we were given the room we had booked but told we’d have to change the following night. We had arrived at 8.30pm after having spent a lot of time travelling from the desert so it really was the last thing we needed. And genuinely the desert accommodation which was incredibly basic was much better than this hostel. The next morning my partner approached Miriam, the manager. When explaining our dissatisfaction she brushed it off a refused to refund our stay. For the fear of getting ill and the shear grottiness of the place we forfited the €30 and found a place just around the corner right next to the sea. For a ten euros more we stayed in absolute luxury. I cannot express enough how wonderful Casa Del Mar is. Please, stay there rather than this grim place. The price of Casa Del Mar is inclusive of any tax etc which is what tips riad sidi mogdamp up to €30. If your budget doesn’t stretch to €40 - which ours didn’t really but it was the first place we came across and fell in love - then there are plenty of other options for €30. After sending an email expressing our complaints, Miriam reacted in a defensive and vile way. Certainly not what we’re used to when staying in other hostels across the world. Having travelled across many continents it really was the worst hostel I had stayed in. I guess if you’re back packing and staying in dorms it may be better suited but still I am sure there are plenty of other hostels! Definitely stay elsewhere.

Convenient and a nice receptionist/host. Cheapish. However, room was dilapidated, small and smelt a bit damp. Don't pay for a superior room, they all seem basic and small, with the possible exception of the 6 bed room which I didn't see. Not a room to sit in and enjoy: bed, table, no space or view. Functional at best. Floor was clean but fixtures (shelf, taps, toilet seat) all run down, scratched and stained. Breakfast VERY basic. Quick, cheap sleep maybe, but it's not a place to enjoy in itself.

We stayed in the terrace family room for 6 nights and had a great time. We loved the view and having the terrace to ourselves a lot of the time - to relax or just watch the seagulls and look over the roofs of the town as the sun came up and down to the various calls to prayer. The owners were very friendly and provided a great breakfast, answering any questions we had. The room was simple but very comfortable and we loved the courtyard where we had breakfast. The location is amazing - in two steps you leave the calm of the Riad for the buzz of the market stalls and locals going up and down the main routes through the old Medina. A perfect place to stay. Highly recommended.

Hi This is a very nice riad, within easy reach from Guleiz and the square. We were happy with our stay and the price was very good. I was happy that I was able to leave our bags in the riad for several hours and I was also able to charge my power bank. The only thing we didn't like, was that like so many riads in Marrakech, it was a little hard to find, a Morrocan asked us the name of our Riad, took us there and demanded $20, just for walking with us for 10 minutes or so, something we would do, without expecting payment. Just be a little careful and do not give in to these demands.

The Riad was very nice and quite. Our bedroom was lovely and cleaned. The receptionist was excellent and very professional. He spoke English and also Spanish very well so communication was well above average. He was polite very professional. He also offered us a mini map that was quite helpful. Breakfast was continental with a choice of coffee or tea, bread (baguette) and fresh orange juice. Marmalade and butter to go with bread. Location was great and it was easy to find. We had a wonderful sleep due to being a quite Riad. Would recommend it to anyone. Good value for money.

This is a basic riad in the heart of the Medina, easy to find as it is just off the main street. The lovely French couple who have bought it in the last couple of years work every weekday here, and are constantly making improvements. Bedrooms are well painted and with beautiful bedlinen; the lovely reception area doubles as a dining room where basic but nice breakfasts are served. We have stayed here 3 times - always in the "Sky" room. There is a great team of just 3 staff, who leave you alone, yet will help with anything should you need it. Showers and hot water are run from gas bottles - they will be changed immediately if the water runs cold; you've only to ask. Bedrooms will only be serviced only when you request, so your privacy is guaranteed. Given 5 stars, simply because it is such good value for money. It is not top of the range luxury, but it doesn't pretend to be. Will definitely return.

Hotel is in a great location if you want to explore the medinas and old town. Also in very short walking distance to the markets, cafe's, port, and much more. This was a very quiet hotel, with good basic amenities. Rooms were a bit colder and had smaller windows so the shower room can get a bit stuffy but the kind reception staff and hotel team made up for this as they were there for anything we needed. Breakfast in the hotel was also good and was served until 10:30 which was great. Good hotels for couples and families and the rooms are good sizes too. Good hotel if you want to explore for most of the day and you are guaranteed a good night sleep as it is a very quiet Riad.

This was one of the worst and weirdest hostels i have been in in marocco. The rooms are moist or have the typical smell which is not comfortable and does not give you a lot of confidence in the hostel. Also our booking online was cancelled due to 'wrong reservation' we did and we had to pay cash. It was a bad experience and i wish never to have to go there anymore. I cannot compare with other hostels in the city but in general i do not recommend.

I stayed at the Riad Sidi Magdoul last month and was not disappointed at all. It was the perfect choice for me as I wanted to be in the heart of the medina. It was not noisy at all. It's in a very quiet back street which goes out on to the Main Street. Ten minutes leisurely walk to the harbour and the beach. The room was clean and the water was hot and the decor traditional. I liked it very much. The staff were very helpful arranging a driver for me to take me somewhere off the beaten track. I felt safe at all times, so their recommendations are also good. Breakfast was served in the open courtyard, basic but perfectly good. I wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you.

A good budget place where you can stay for a couple of nights in order to see the city. Excellent location, nice staff. I liked everything, the only minus is the damp smell of the room. But will come back with my family with pleasure.

The owner couples were very nice. The stuff were helpful as well. We enjoyed the night we spent. The riad was quiet and very nice looking.

Comfy and clean... very central good location but not too noisy... very impressed to be able to pay €5 to get a load of washing done very needed after 3weeks of hand washing with a 2year old... found the bedding to be extra soft and cosy real duvets ... no fuzzy fleece blanket like you find in a lot of Moroccan guest houses... staff were approachable and friendly

Excellent! 5 stars. Lovely helpful and beautiful riad. If you want a simple yet very traditional Moroccan experience that is quiet yet in the centre of the town then Riad Sidi Magdoul is the place to stay. Local knowledge is good, 10 mins walk to the beach and 3 mins walk to the local medina for local shopping for fruit, vegetables, restaurants and gifts. It's a very safe area and with friendly local people!

Very nice place in the Medina near the main street market. Clean and people are very nice and friendly. There are many restaurents nearby. Sea is about 10 minutes walking. They serve you a nice cup of tea to welcome you. Great place to relax and rooftop is really nice.

Its located in the center of town, however its down a dark alley, which does not make for the most comfortable walk home at night. The rooms are clean but very damp, and somewhat smelly. Our bed unfortunately also had bedbugs. Which the owner refused to acknowledge, did little about and managed to insult my wife in the process (not a great to badmouth your customer in french when your they understand what your are saying!). The breakfast was nice and so was the staff, but after this experience we will not be coming back.

We stayed here for two days in family room, 3 adults + 2 kids, and we liked a lot this riad. Clean and comfortable colorful place,not expensive not far a way from the beach and ocean port. Welcoming reseptionist.

The room itself was cute and comfortable. There's no a/c which is not a problem during this time of year. I've been to essouira in both October and April and both times it's been chilly at night. The wifi in our room was non existent, which sucked. You had to go to the lobby to get decent internet. The hot water for the shower was not very long lasting, either. The towels on the other hand were quite nice. The breakfast was typical. Tons of bread options with fresh juice and coffee. The overall experience in my opinion was what I'd call 3 stars for a 2 star price, so I'm quite satisfied.
