Location good Atmosphere terrible, The rooms where absolutely disgusting mattress very stained smelly. Broken bed dirty floor mats . Stained towels disgusting bath couldn't use .ceiling falling in nearly got it on the head . Leaking roof in dinner area . Cats in the kitchen. Staff in their pyjamas bottoms. Towels old sheets old . I wouldn't let my dog eat there . Very disappointed and depressing its an absolute dump . You have been warned ⚠️ what a waste of my hard earned money. NEVER NEVER EVER AGAIN. Im just glad we survived it without getting some kind of illness. To scared to complain because we had nowhere else to go. We where cautious of everything we touched. Marrakech is brilliant just stay somewhere nice . ☹️😫😢😎

My wife and I stayed here for a week in September. Finding the Rhiad was an experience in itself but once we got our bearings all was good. Make sure you know where you are going as the taxi from the airport dropped us off along the Main Street of the Kasbah as the streets are too narrow for vehicles (except bikes). We arrived after 9pm and didn’t have a clue where we were going. A frantic wander around the same dark streets and we eventually found our Riad. Upon arriving we were greeted by the amazing Abdul who couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome, even rustling up an omelette for my wife despite the time. This level of hospitality never wavered throughout our stay. This is not a hotel so don’t expect 5 star luxury (as some seem to expect), it is however an amazing experience. Yes it might be slightly dated but that adds to the character, the rooms were cleaned daily and bedding changed daily also. It is located in the heart of the Kasbah area and is close enough to walk to all the main tourist attractions. All the staff were amazing and friendly, and cannot fault any of them. We ate the tagine a couple of times and it was extremely tasty and would recommend trying it at least once. Thanks to Abdul we had a wonderful experience, which I would highly recommend!

I booked this Riad for a 5 day 4 night holiday for me and my daughter. Reading all of the reviews I was nervous to stay based on those. I will say this, if you are after and expecting a hotel standard, than book a hotel and not a Riad . If you want an authentic moroccan holiday, with little thrills but great hospitality, budget friendly, and a beautiful atmosphere this is the perfect Riad. Abdul the manager couldn't do enough to ensure we both had a pleaent stay, I will also like highlight the ladies who make the breakfast, evening meals, and clean the rooms, they were friendly and so helpful. I opted for the half board option which meant we had a warm and fresh cooked meal on the evenings after a busy day exploring Morocco, every night was something different, and fruit, tea andbpr biscuits were served for afters. The walk to find the Riad is a bit tricky, I would suggest you ensure you have data and use Google maps, as there are people 'offering' directions, however they will be expecting compensation for their efforts. When I needed a taxi to go to the waterpark Abdul was able to arrange one there and back, taking the complication out of it all. Like I said if you require the comforts of a hotel setting, I would suggest you book a hotel, but this Riad offered the authentic experience I was after, and will return based of the experience and hospitality from Abdual and team.

Cant believe how disgusting this hotel was looked nothing like the photos at all looked like an abandoned hotel one of the workers was cheeky I asked to change room as there was no windows and was so dirty i said in a nice way and the next day at brekfast he served our food n was laughing for about 10 min when we ate it so god knows what he done to it we had to leave the hotel after 1 day we were ment to stay for 10 nights it was absolutely disgusting!!!!!!! Wouldn't give us any money back.. the pool was that dirty you couldn't even see the end of the pool the smell was horrible I would tell no one to stay here can't believe the money we spent! Pictures dont look too bad compared what it was really like there was stains all over the walls bed and the lockers discusting. We then went to imperial hotel and it only cost 440euro for 9 nights it was amazing!

We arrived at 10.30am and was asked straight away for city tax. I went to pay with card and was told don't accept card. I said as we literally just arrived I'd not got any money out yet so they asked us for English. They were very keen on getting this money straight away despite we couldn't get into our room until 2pm. We went for a walk and upon coming back to Riad we couldn't get in. We knocked on the door for half an hour as there was no bell and door locked. 2pm in blazing heat stood outside with no shade. Pool is tiny and dirty. We wouldn't go into it as didn't look hygienic. No sun loungers. Just a pool under cover so couldn't sunbathe around the pool. Now for the rooms. The double bed was falling apart. It had wooden plinths around and they were so loose and wobbly. Everything looked like it was 100 years old and falling apart. Huge cracks around sink. Bath didn't work at all and was covered in hairs and thick dust. The shower was literally held on by 1 screw. We received 1 small towel each. No big towels for showering and no towels for pool. When I asked if we could please have another towel they weren't happy and tutted and pulled a face. I found it very unfriendly and was concerned how we would spend our days around here. The aircon didn't do anything apart from put a puddle of water on the floor. I was told by other guests too door was held together by staples and that breakfast was a piece of stale bread or a little croissant. There was no restaurant area. Just 2 grotty tables next to pool where you have breakfast. We didn't stay here. This was not what photos showed when booking. We moved within a few hours to another riad just down the road that only cost £50 extra for the 2 of us for 5 days and it was absolutely amazing. I do not recommend this place at all and seriously needs friendlier staff and place cleaning.

Lovely quaint gem in the old walled part of Marrakesh and within easy walking distance to main square. We stayed for a 3 night short break and despite a mix up with our travel agent ( they were not expecting us as they got the wrong date ), we were still greeted by friendly staff and given a room. The room was basic but very comfortable and the pool was a godsend to cool down in after a hot day exploring. I would have no problem staying there again should I ever return to the City.

Authentic Stay with Amazing Hospitality! We had a great time at Riad Mandalay! The atmosphere is truly authentic – from the beautiful Moroccan decor to the peaceful courtyard, it felt like a real escape. Abdul, the manager, was absolutely amazing – warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile (and a great sense of humor!). He made our stay even more memorable. The pool was lovely, and cold which was much needed in the heat! The air conditioning worked well, which was a relief in the summer. Breakfast was delicious – fresh bread, Moroccan pancakes, jams, and mint tea – all beautifully served and full of local flavor. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic experience with top-notch hospitality. Thank you, Abdul and the Riad Mandalay team!

Our stay at Riad Mandalay was amazing. The property itself could maybe do with a little refresh, but when you receive the service we did, this can be overlooked. Abdul the riad manager couldn't do enough for us, he was absolutely amazing & always made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. The area in the kasbah in which the riad was located was fantastic with everywhere we needed to visit within walking distance. If you're planning on staying here, but have mixed feeling due to some past reviews, please ever look these. Riad Mandalay is fantastic & I'll definitely look to stay again in the future. Thank you again Abdul for your hospitality, you really made our holiday

Riad Mandalay is a beautiful traditional Moroccan guesthouse. If you are expecting luxury, then this is not the place for you. But if you are happy with a budget friendly, unique experience with great hospitality, delicious food, somewhere safe within an idyllic environment, just walking distance from some of the main attractions- then this is the place to visit. Iheb and Abdul were so knowledgeable and accommodating and were always making us laugh. The Riad is also a great place to meet other like-minded individuals with travellers visiting from Scotland, Holland, Belgium, France, Portugal, and America. There's a rooftop area where you can sunbathe or unwind in the shade. The breakfast was a little repetetive, with it mostly being the same thing served every day (we stayed for a week, and I think on 2 of the days we were served omelette instead of pancakes). But - for the price we paid, you can't really complain as the breakfast set us up for the day. The dinner time meals were absolutely delicious. Compliments to the Chef 👩🍳 only downside was that we had brought 2 of our own towels with us to use for the waterpark, and after having hung them up in the bathroom to dry on the hooks- we noticed they had disappeared after having our room cleaned the next day. I think this was a genuine mistake, but I wouldn't recommend leaving your own towels out for this reason. Would definitely recommend visiting Oasiria Waterpark, Ouzoud Waterfalls, and of course Jemaa el-Fnaa. A pleasant stay in a wonderful Riad with wonderful people. Thank you 🇲🇦.

Great location. Incredibly hospitable staff. Abdul specifically was super friendly and helpful!! Food was plentiful. Air con worked. After previously reading some reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect; however, it is clean, sufficient and a good base for exploring the city.

Very basic place to stay, although we got a warm welcome. Rooms are very basic and whole building is in need of a good bit of TLC. Room was clean, beds were a bit lumpy not the best. Towels were a bit threadbare. Breakfast was basic but fine enough. Alright for a short stay. Rooftop sunbeds needed cushions and most were cracked. The Air conditioning was not the best as room was quite stuffy, perhaps a service? Rooms would benefit from a small fridge inside as no drinks etc available to purchase on site. Just go there with an open mind and don’t expect too much. It’s bearable but it’s not a hotel !

Riad Mandalay boasts an unbeatable location in the heart of Marrakech, steps from the souks, palace, and square. I travelled alone with my son and felt entirely safe! Our stay was a really reasonable price, so wasn’t sure what to expect, but the riad offered comfortable beds and a lovely stay, largely thanks to Iheb's invaluable local knowledge. Breakfast was plentiful with bread, crepes/omelette, jams, and Moroccan tea. The rooftop offered a nice space to meet other guests. Highly recommended for its location and value!

We recently stayed at Riad Mandalay for 4 nights. The Riad itself was clean enough, beds were comfy and the shower was good. It probably could do with a bit of a freshen up but for the money it was worth it and perfectly fine as a base for the trip. The best part of the experience was definitely Iheb, he was super funny and helpful and made our stay really enjoyable!

Except the guy at the front desk who was very friendly, everything else is from worse to absolute horror.
Cons: We arrived at 7 PM, the front desk guy was very ok, till we got to the room, where everything was bad..mold everywhere, dirty room, dirty shower(inapropiate for use), dirty sheets, and we only asked for CLEAN sheets, and the “boss” said that there aren’t any…we tried to talk to them that is the only thing that we wanted, excepting the mold everywhere and all around mess…but they didn’t have them…how is it possible!? The manager didn’t want to refund because “it is clean and ok”…maybe, if you are a street bumb…we had to go another place where everything was wonderful. Totally disagree with this place beeing on Booking. I travel a lot and havent’t seen an accomodation like this before. Be careful on what you see vs what you get.

I will start this review off simply. This is not a 4 star hotel as claimed. You can hardly describe it as a hotel, more a hostel. Do not stay here before doing research and reading the bad reviews. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever experienced. We arrived after our flight to this hotel and were immediately concerned. The building in front of us looked nothing like the pictures that were seen online. The interior was old and unkempt. The pool in the middle looked green and miserable. There were no nice flowing plants everywhere, as seen in the photographs. The main 'living room' has no 'bar' or 'games' as described. It had two large tables (one of which appeared to be an old bed frame covered in a cloth) and a mismatch of battered chairs. The walls were cracking and in need of paint. The furniture is old and the whole place was untidy and unclean. I decided to ignore these red flags and give it the benefit of the doubt.. I should have gone with my gut and left then and there. We were ushered into the main room and asked to wait while they checked us in. After what seemed forever we were informed that a mistake had occurred and our booking could not be found. We were told we would need to stay in another hotel for the night, which they would sort for us. We were provided a taxi and taken to another riad. This hotel had no idea who we were but after some time we managed to sort the room. This was a two star hotel and was pretty bad but I was happy to at least have a bed for the night. We arranged with the management of Riad Mandalay to come back the next morning to check in and have breakfast. We returned the next morning and were told our room would not be ready until 14:00. This was not what we were told the day before but it wasn't a major issue. They offered us breakfast and we sat at a small table in the corner, due to the two large tables being taken up by another group. We asked for a breakfast menu but were told there wasn't one. We were provided a basket of bread, a pastry, several bowls of jam and some tea. To be honest the food was fine but not what I expected from a '4 star' hotel. There was no offer of anything further. The seating layout in the room meant that you would be sitting at a table with other people (which is okay for some but not my preference). There were two staff members who we met over the course of our stay here. I did not catch either of their names but I believe they were the managers. One of them was polite and I really can't complain about them. However the other was creepy and rude. He made several strange comments to both my partner and other women. He said she has "pretty eyes" and was "beautiful" on more than one occasion. Some may find this friendly but I found it very strange. I also saw him arguing with another guest, telling them effectively to shut up before walking off. He then came over to us and proceeded to inform us of how much he hated the french. He did not come across as friendly and polite. We were offered a complimentary dinner for the room issues (A win at last!). However we were once again told there was no menu. The food was tagine or tagine. There was no choice. We did not stay long enough to try the dinner but if it was anything like the breakfast, I wouldn't expect much. We headed out for the day, leaving our bags in the main living room as we still did not have a room. We returned at 14:00 and were once again told to wait. The manager informed us the room would be ready in 10 minutes. Well, nearly an hour later we got the keys to our room. The room was by far the worst bit of the experience. It was dilapidated and miserable. The walls were heavily cracking and some were half painted. The only decorations were several paintings that were leant up on a ledge. Two of the four plug sockets (Both near the bed) didn't work. The pillows were stained with unknown fluids. The floor was dirty and covered in dust. There was no TV, kettle or any other basic amenities that would be expected in a 4 star hotel. We did get a bar of soap and a small sachet of shampoo but nothing further. The bathroom was horrible and smelt. The shower was effectively part of the room where a small wall was built and painted over with waterproof paint. The shower head itself was barely attached to the wall and only pointed in one direction. The lighting was dark and dreary. It was nothing like pictured. There was an aircon! (At least they had that..). But it was clearly broken and would make a loud creaking noise constantly while running. So you had to choose between being cool and being able to hear yourself think. You could not have it running at night if you wanted to get to sleep. However the worst part about the room was the windows. In both the main bedroom and the bathroom were a large glass window. These were closed with wooden shutter doors. This is obviously from when the riad was used traditionally and the main living room was once a courtyard. These windows had decorative wooden arches at the top. These could not be closed and were only obscured by a mesh curtain, which was certainly not opaque. This meant that anyone in the main living room could see both into the bedroom and the bathroom if they wanted. I tried to solve this issue by hanging towels over the curtain rails to prevent people from seeing in. The other issue with these windows is that they were not soundproofed at all. We quickly noticed we could hear the TikTok video playing on the manager's phone when he was sitting outside. We were having to whisper to have a conversation and had no privacy at all. On both nights of our stay, we had a loud party of guests come back and sit in the living room. They were laughing and talking until past midnight, meaning we could not sleep. You could clearly hear everything being said as if they were next to you as they were only a few meters away and there was nothing to reduce the sound. I had no issue with them as the people are on holiday and were only using the room as it was meant. The late night party and the aircon meant I hardly got any sleep both nights. I'd also like to mention the location of the hotel. I understand this can't be helped and it is a traditional riad, but it is worth mentioning for people looking to stay here. To get from this hotel to the main street you need to walk approximately 2 minutes down an alleyway. The last stretch of this alley contains a small local market. The market has several meat stalls which were covered in flies. There were animal parts thrown on the floor for cats to eat. There were flies and rodents around. It smelt strongly of rotting flesh. It was only a very short stretch but walking past this every single time you wanted to go out for dinner was a good way to lose your appetite. This was the only way to get to the main street without a detour in the wrong direction. After two nights in this nightmare we decided to pay for a new hotel. We packed our things and got a taxi to another hotel (which funnily enough was only a 3 star but was far better). Overall I cannot say anything positive about this place. The messed up bookings, the delays, the fake online pictures, the room, the management, the food. There were no positives. It is not a 4 star hotel and I have absolutely no idea how it is so highly rated. I would highly recommend not staying here and doing some proper research before you do. I genuinely felt safer outside the hotel than I did inside.

Only there 3 nights. But 1st night, told no room for us. (Booked family room) Moved us to a different riad & although staff & breakfast lovely the rooms were apart and much more inferior. Tiny, cramped, noisy. Rooms apart and stuff in each case so had to keep to & fro to get stuff. Also another walk away in the dark evening to new riad with all cases. Cudnt unpack as had to move back the following afternoon….so disturbed our full day. Really disappointing start. Why did this happen. It was confirmed and we had booked in January. Riad cudnt understand why we were upset. We were offered an eve meal in riad but wanted to be out in atmosphere of busy streets. Once in Mandalay though it was otherwise perfect. Just wish we’d had all 3 nights there instead of 2. Felt let down & very disturbed 1st night. Never a move to a better place is it. So over paid our 1st night. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly can't understand why there are any decent reviews here, this place is absolutely disgusting! Before you even get there you have to make your way through smelly streets crowded and nearly run over by mopeds! It may have been charming when it opened but the hygiene now is appalling, the so called pool was green in colour, stagnant and clearly never used. The room we were given had a double and two singles, a bathroom covered in damp on the ceiling, barely any water pressure and the water kept coming back up in the bath leaving a foul smell. We were given towels that were about 20 years old and no way of drying them as the rooms were cold. The bedding was ancient and the mattress very hard, my friend slept in a single bed and came out with flea bites! We managed one night and checked out and went somewhere else, strongly advise DO NOT BOOK here! The only decent person was the poor maid who did all the hard work, served breakfast and cleaned the rooms whilst the men sat around all day, if they got off their bums and did some maintenance they could turn it around and make it charming again!

Upon arrival we were greeted by very kind and friendly staff members who shown us to the room. The Riad was very unique and beautiful, but not 4 stars. The room itself was standard, a bed a bathroom and some drawers - the basic essentials. For the price paid I don’t think I can fault the place. I think a lot of the reviews forget it isn’t a first world nation, nor very expensive to stay here which influences quality of the build and funds for upkeep. The bed was comfy, the room functioned and the location was ideal for the old town area and close proximity to the airport. The breakfast was a continental, bread, roti, and toppings/sauces. Again, for the price of the accommodation, it cannot be heavily faulted in my opinion.

When we arrived at another hotel the Riad Nouhal we got moved to the Riad Mandalay due to electrical issues. When we arrived to the Riad Mandalay we were greeted by a staff member who gave us orange juice and gave us a nice warm welcome before showing the room. The staff overall seem very hospitable. The courtyard was very nice in decoration as it appeared traditional and authentic. The room itself was decent in quality it had nice paintings on the walls and had a king sized bed. The shower didn't have enough space to capture the water and went on the bathroom floor and the water temperature fluctuated between times of the day as it wasn't always hot. The breakfast was a continental breakfast which was nice but very limited in selection as I would have personally preferred traditional Moroccan food. Overall, I would say this is a adaquate hotel with some improvement needed, 100% isn't 4 stars however.

This was one of the best places I have stayed while travelling abroad. The riad was beautiful and so looked after. The room was lovely and really nice to stay in. Me and my friend stayed here and the staff were so incredible. We felt so looked after and they helped so much with travel arrangements and just making us feel welcome. We will 100% be visiting again and I would recommend this riad to anyone who is looking to go to Morocco as the location is right near the centre.

Staff were lovely, so helpful and friendly. We went for our 10 year anniversary and the staff surprised us with a cake and sang to us. We had breakfast included in our stay which was really nice. Rooms were cleaned every day. Location was good, just a little walk from the main Medina square.
Cons: First night we were put in a small room and the shower didn't work properly but we were moved into another room for the rest of our stay and had no issues with that one. Advertised with a spa however there isn't one anymore. Staff recommended one just round the corner though which was lovely.

It’s an ok place, tucked away inside alleys away from the Medina. The service wasn’t great. Asked us to pay cash only for taxes and airport transfer which was never mentioned ahead. Tiny 3 sachets of shampoo and no soap was provided for a family of 5 for 2 days!! The service guy wasn’t too friendly and always seemed in a bad mood. When breakfast was delivered, a swarm of bees hovered over, when asked to change the honey, he just took out the bee and gave it to us.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Riad Mandalay. This was our first time in Morocco, so we can’t really compare it to other riads or hotels. The location is pretty great, hidden away in an alley like most riads. The cleanliness and state of the room could have improved a bit. The hand soap bar for the bathroom was gone (with just an empty plastic wrapper left) when we arrived. The toothbrush holder cup was dirty before we used it and the bedside tables had enough dusk on them to indicate that they probably haven’t been thoroughly cleaned in some time… But what the Mandalay lacked in cleanliness/ upkeep, it made up for in character and service of the wonderful staff. Abdul was so wonderful and greeted us with Moroccan tea and treats as we checked-in. He was such a rockstar everyday and made everyone staying there feel like family. Thank you Abdul and the rest of the staff at Mandalay!! We will definitely be back 😊

Cons: Breakfast was very basic - we had to stay in a different riad for our first night, due to difficulties with our room- and the breakfast was of a much higher standard in that one. Our towels weren’t changed, only dried, during our stay.

The staff was beyond friendly and we felt very welcome. Also all the facilities were spactious and beautiful.
Cons: We'd love to have something salty for breakfast. If you usually eat sweet for breakfast, it will be amazing for you!

Beautiful riad with very friendly owners Breakfast was lovely and we availed of evening meal one night which was one of our best meals in Marakesh and good bottle of red Also had a massage one evening and it was well worth the €30 If paying any extras in riad pay cash as a charge is put on using cards ( by government ) Riad within walking distance of a lot of the amazing sights. Would definately go back

We arrived late, delayed flight (boo), in the evening and probably due to my lack of French we where allocated the wrong room but this was rectified by the owners the very next morning without any prompting on our behalf. The owners and staff where wonderful and although nether of us spoke much of a common language we where able to make the important stuff understood. Although on Expedia I thought we were going to be collected from the airport, that wasn't actually realised and we had to make our own way to the hotel by Taxi (200 Dirham + a 100 Dirham tip to a local to walk us through the alleyways to find it), but I don't know if that was my fault for not confirming so I'm just mentioning it so others might not fall into the same pitfall. The air-conditioning in the room wasn't working, but with the windows open the temperature at night was comfortable. The room was lovely and as expected... the breakfast was well simple and adequate. I don't have the experience to compare this Riad to anything else but it certainly gave us the experience that we went looking for and I'm very pleased... :)
