It was a pleasure to stay at the Riad Cannelle. It had an old world charm, all the staff members were so friendly and polite. Communications with Adil prior to arrival were good and he arranged a taxi to meet us at the airport. The warm welcome on arrival, with mint tea served in the beautiful courtyard, set the tone for a fabulous stay. The Riad is lovely, traditionally decorated, spotlessly clean throughout, in a fab location about 20 mins walk through the souk to the main square. We loved our room, large with a nice seating area. It had a balcony which also looked down onto a small inner courtyard near the front door. But the real plus point of this Riad is the care and attention shown by Badr and the other members of staff. Always with a smile and a polite welcome and ready to help. A lovely breakfast served with such care by Badr, restaurant recommendations, mid afternoon mint tea served by the ladies, extra early breakfast so we could eat before an excursion. They made our stay just perfect. Thankyou.

We didn’t dislike anything about the hotel but were surprised by a number of things - possibly because we didn’t research it enough. This is a traditional house with 4 rooms. We had 2 suites so each room was a decent size. It is located up a narrow lane in the medina. To enter you need to ring a bell to get in & a member of staff always lets you out. On one morning, we ate under the moon & stars as it was early. The table was set in the open courtyard and so is colder first thing in the morning. Please be aware that there is no restaurant or bar. Meals can be made for you if you order in advance. Alcohol is not allowed on the premises or within the medina apart from in restaurants where you can eat inside. Our stay reflected true Moroccan life which can be experienced living here. If it’s a hotel with all amenities you want then you need to stay in the new part of the town.
Cons: Being unable to have a glass of wine in the evening.

The Riad itself was beautiful and very clean. Definitely among the best maintained riads we've stayed at so far.
Cons: The staff was okay but lacked the Moroccan friendliness we've grown used to. After our first breakfast one of the staff was giving us a sales pitch for his brother's pharmacy. It was all very friendly and not aggressive but nothing I enjoy within the confines of the riad. Our room was beautiful but located above the entrance of the riad with a balcony looking into the corridor separated just by curtains. This made it rather loud including the humming of some kind of machine. Furthermore, the kitchen was located right below the balcony, so the smell of food is a regular companion in the room. The main disappointment was the breakfast. The food tasted like it was reheated but was okay. The real unfortunate thing was that no Moroccan mint tea was offered. Instead hot water and hot coffee were placed on each table in an insulated bottle in the morning. Even right after the start of breakfast time your coffee will be luke warm. I understand the convenience of this approach but I do think fresh coffee is not an unreasonable expectation.

The breakfast was filling. Good coffee and fresh fruit. The riad was a couple of blocks to the souk (marketplace) with many good restaurants near by. The was a traditional Hammam near by also 20 dhm.
Cons: Everything about Riad Cannelle was great. Excellent staff. Reservation through booking.com was easy. I did get the least expensive room but it was fine for a single traveler or couple for a few days. Quiet courtyard. Peaceful inside while very busy on the street. It was confusing to find at first because the riad had two entrances and therefore two addresses but once the correct one was provided the airport transfer knew where to go. If it’s your first time here, always walk towards the souk (left), not away from it (right). Watch out for friendly people who want to show you around. Although safe, you’ll end up in an unknown part of the medina with an expectation to give a large tip for an unrequested tour. In Morocco, It’s illegal to offer tourist guide services without a guide license.

The team were super helpful and friendly. Shout out to Badr and Adil. The location is central but quiet with easy access to the souks and also hotels and attractions that are outside the medina. Everything was amazing, the Riad was really clean and calm. Their staff was wonderful — very attentive and kind. Especially the manager, Adil, who helped us a lot during our stay. The breakfast was nice, though it was a typical French-style breakfast (lots of sweet options, not much savory). Personally, I would have preferred a more Mediterranean-style breakfast, but that’s just a matter of taste — everything was delicious anyway. Thank you for the peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, calmness, and your warm smiles.

Everything. The staff are welcoming and kind, an oasis next to the Medina. One of us wasn't very well during our stay and our hosts couldn't have done more for us. We booked half board, we just wanted to not have to find food every night, it was a good choice. It was a set meal, no menu, and the food was outstanding! Something different every night - even the first night which we really didn't expect given an arrival time near to midnight. Easy walking distance of all there is to see in the city, don't get taxis or hire a car. Trips or venue tickets are easily arranged through the Riad.

All the staff were great, Badr, who served us our food was wonderful, he even lent us a kettle as there wasn't on in our room. Adil, who spoke perfect English, helped us quite a few times with problems we had. The courtyard was lovely. Our room was quiet, cool with a comfortable bed. It is located right in the centre of the Medina, which took some getting use to.
Cons: The room was smaller and darker than we expected, very authentic, butt could do with updating the shower. The description in Bookings was misleading, as a lot of things mentioned are not IN the room, such as a kettle. Also, things like washing machine, stove, BBQ, etc were not there. This is directed at Bookings not the Riad.

The Riad was immediately welcoming with one of the hosts, Badr, meeting us at the door and welcoming us in with some mint tea. Before this, we had organized a airport transfer with the other host, Adil, through messages on Booking.com, which brought us right to the door. Badr gave us great suggestions for dinner on our first night and some tips for managing the souks. Our room was lovely and spacious, clean and exactly as shown. The bathroom was beautiful too. Breakfast was provided in the mornings. Throughout our stay, Badr and Adil were more than willing to answer and all questions we had for them. Overall, a fantastic place to stay and would recommend to anyone travelling to Marrakech.

Situated down a smal side alley, but I never had any concerns for my saftey and once inside the noise and bustle of the city seemed a world away. The property is authentic, clean and comfortable with some great features and only has 4 rooms. The staff were very attentive, Badr was an absolute delight and looked after me like I was family.
Cons: Nothing really springs to mind, Breakfast could have had a healthier option and the internet could have been a bit faster, but I really am nit picking.

Where do I start…. After plenty of comparing I decided on Riad Cannelle - the price was fair, the location perfect, room options well detailed and pictures looked great, so far so good! Once booked, Adil the manager promptly reached out to introduce himself and see if we needed any transfers or tours arranged. I knew our dates so had already booked tours but booked the private transfers offered which to and from the airport both were good vehicles and very friendly drivers. We arrived at the Riad around 2300, at first I was apprehensive… it was dark and the entrance was down a little side street which we managed to get lost in straight away but on finding the entrance and our night host, Badr greeting us, any apprehension soon disappeared. Beautiful mint tea on arrival, shown to our room and even in the dark it looked amazing. The room was clean, spacious and beautiful! Our first morning we had an early start, earlier than the scheduled breakfast times so we didn’t expect or plan for anything more than a quick coffee and away but Badr was on the ball and whipped us up a quick breakfast to see us on our way - no issues, no hassle and with a smile! We were gone all day but on returning that evening we were welcomed back with another beautiful pot of mint tea and attentive service from Badr. The room had been cleaned and bed made up which for a short stay we hadn’t expected. After a day touring the Atlas Mountains and an evening in the hustle and bustle of the medina it was about now we began to fully realise the peace and tranquillity of the Riad, the silence of the property when you’re inside felt impossible compared to what waited for you outside! Sunday - Finally a small lie in and our first time seeing the Riad in the daytime…. Wow, breakfast in the garden with the fountain trickling away, birds nipping down to share your food and the subtle music playing as you ate set us up perfectly! Again, Badr could not do enough for us!

The staff absolutely made our stay. We spoke with them everyday and they went above and beyond to ensure we had the best stay. Breakfast was large and the riad was only a short walk from the centre.
Cons: Our room was just off the main courtyard, which meant it could get a bit noisy and only a small Padlock on the door which occasionally got left unlocked after the room was cleaned.

Clean, dedicated staff, large room and well taken care of. As well management was very re-active towards an issue. Location close to the center is great! Important for those with car. Park opposite of Riad Cannelle at the Parking. 7.5 euro. Save!! Do not park around in a street. I left my key there. Riad Cannelle asssured that it was save.
Cons: We spoiled our selves by booking this place. Considerable more expensive then the other places we stayed. So the postive things should be there! The AC in our room sounded like a large truck. Management heart about this tried its best to got this fixed. Compliments. Breakfast ... very very poor. I asked for eggs from the 1.day. Other quests asked and did get a NO, they could get fruit. A day later also eggs for them. It is not good that a place with this price-level tries to save some euro on the the breakfast. it was cold eating outside. (quite normal, but another place did put som local heating on) . Eating at you room was not appreciated, we did this the first day, when we were quite so tired. The diner possibly and minibar at the Riad are very expensive. The Riad is well organized. But from my perspective not worth the price. They are not really trying to spoil the customer was our impression.

Riad was exceptional, and beautiful. It was lucky to stay in such a traditional house, we could just chill in the beautiful garden with tradtion decorating. Breakfast was delicious. We ordered mint tea twice here, which was very good. There are doors in front of riad, you have to ring the bell to enter the riad, but even though we were late, the guy was waiting and opened in a minute. so i felt safe from strangers. Market and many restaurants are right next to our riad. Room was clean and everyday they cleaned it. Our host was always welcoming and kind. I would love to visit marrakech because of this riad.

Very helpful staff, good communication in English, great help with transfer from the airport, lovely courtyard with a small fountain, big double room in the ground floor, clean place, great location - 10 minutes walk to the main square, only the breakfast could be a bit more diverse - I mean it was delicious, but very sweet. I wish I could have other things, not only sweet, maybe fruits of the region? also it would be interesting to have some choice of tea, typical of Morocco, not only black tea, etc. Yet, I enjoyed the place very much.

Great location, on the fringe of the Medina, literally two minutes walk. The great bonus of Riad Cannelle is the staff: Badr was an attentive host and ever-helpful. Breakfasts are simple and wholesome, served in the open-to-the-sky centre of the Riad; probably a bit carb-heavy for some tastes, but tasty and a good start to a day of a lot of walking. I hope to return.
Cons: All very good, but perhaps the towels and linens could do with updating. A small quibble, if being picky, and at the price of the accommodation not an issue.

Good location on the edge of the medina. Easy to find. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely riad, nice staff, huge suites, good sun terrace. Offers meals and excursions. Price feels steep but you do get a massive suite for your outlay.
Cons: Breakfast was rudimentary by Morocco standards, not to get fresh orange juice when there are literally trees bearing the fruit in front of your eyes is a trifle galling. The Muzak is dire, I never wish to hear " The Sound of Silence" butchered like this again.

Everything! Starting from the hospitality of the hosts, the beautiful room, the delicious breakfast (different every morning), to the location of the riad. The manager arranged an airport transfer for us at 1 in the morning, the next morning he gave us an introduction to Marrakech, what to see, where to go. He printed the boarding passes for us. We felt as if we were visiting our family, so kind and open-hearted.
Cons: Everything was more than perfect.

It is a truly peaceful place. A quite riad to escape the Marrakechi hectic life and heat. It has a nice fountain and it is a pleasure to just sit there and relax. The staff could not be more caring and helpful. They are there to help you with everything you may need. We were a gay couple and, though we kept it discrete, I believe it was obvious and we were treated just as a any other couple (in case it is useful for anyone in a similar situation)
Cons: Nothing really.

I honestly don’t write many reviews but I just had to for this one. Reviews helped me and if these can help anyone I’m happy. We didn’t know what to expect as I heard various things about riads and hotels in Morocco, but this one didn’t disappoint. Don’t go to a hotel, Stay in this beautiful Riad! We went to from London to Marrakesh in Mid April. Right from the beginning it was beautiful the way they received us. When we booked I got a message from the manager to see if we wanted to transportation. We went for this as we’ve heard grabbing a Taxi can be a bit expensive and troublesome. When we arrived at the riad, one of the staff (Badr) took our bags to help us and the riad had prepared a table with Biscuits and Moroccan Mint tea. The subtle Music, Candles, the peace and tranquility made it 10/10. Really made you feel like you’re in another continent. The Riad was always being cleaned (Rooms & outside areas). Very secure (had cameras outside for security and was very secure about my luggage). Service was far and beyond (huge thanks to Badr, he was exceptional and was always there for us when we needed something). The Riad is a bit French oriented but we communicated in English and everything was superb. We needed AC, they got it fast. We needed and Iron, they got it. The rest of the staff were very nice and friendly (2 Women and 2 men). We loved it because the Riad was very close to the Medina market (10mins walk) and we would explore the city very easily. If you want a true Moroccan experience 100% Recommend you go here. It was awesome for the price and location and cleanliness.
Cons: if I had to choose something, was probably breakfast but that’s just nit picking. There was only one plate that’s was being changed every day with something different. In my opinion it Could have been better if they Included a fresh fruit or a yogurt or something to mix it up.

The Riad Cannelle itself is like hundreds of other places to stay in Marrakech, I’m sure. The big standout was the staff – both Adil and Badr (not sure of spellings) were wonderful. Both gentlemen were very helpful, getting us set up with our SIM cards, and orienting us towards restaurants, museums and the essential sights. Their service always struck the right balance between friendly and professional. Our room was very nice – large and heated (it is January), with even extra space heaters provided, making for a pleasant step from the shower. The cleaning and towel service was provided daily, and it was great to always come back to a neat and clean room.
Cons: The two shortcomings were the sewer gas that seems to emanate from every bathroom sink outside of Canada and the U.S., and the disappointing breakfast. The morning meal was a model of carbohydrate loading – bread, pancakes, muffins, jams and bitter coffee, needing lots of sugar. The redeeming factor of breakfast was the great fresh-squeezed orange juice, and the gracious service that came with it.

Staying at riad Cannelle is like staying in your own house. It is a hidden gem where you can find comfort and restore from the chaos of the Medina. The staff here are amazing: they are happy to give everything you need - flexibility, kindness, directions, useful information and lots of interesting conversations. The food is also delicious, I really recommend having dinner here - one of the best in Marrakech! I am really grateful to have been able to stay here in a very difficult time of my life. I came back truly recharged, I miss it so much already :)

The place is a little difficult to find, but that makes it more interesting to the exotic experience of Marrakesh. The room was basic but very comfortable. A large bathroom and comfortable bed. hotel has a nice rooftop garden when you can enjoy the sun. The common areas are nicely decorated. They can arrange for you massage, tours and dinners. Breakfast is free.

Pros: -This hotel has listed accurate walking times to the main attractions, which was appreciated. - The service was great, they were helpful and we were even warned about eating in particular areas that were known to serve old food to tourists. - Great water pressure and it stayed hot for a long time. We had a problem with the shower not draining and it was fixed immediately. -heater provided as well as extra blankets -good breakfast served daily at chosen time. Some people complained in the reviews about the breakfast and I'm not sure why. It was about the same every day; but you got coffee, tea, fresh squeezed orange juice with a slice of cake, warm bread, and a warm pancake-like component with butter and jams. It was delicious and filling. -super secure facility. Iron bars on the door that had to be unlocked whenever you entered or left. -beautiful patio and hotel Cons: -the bed is really hard; after living three years in Europe we are used to the firm beds, but this was more firm than usual. -we weren't given a tour so I didn't realize there was a patio on the roof. Was bummed when I realized we missed out on the sunsets there.

Lovey Riad located in the Medina easily accessible without a long walk with luggage but do book a transfer through the Riad for your arrival. Super friendly, attentive and polite staff at the Riad will make you feel very safe and welcome. We were a family of 3 in one of the upstairs suites which was just as imagined with lots of Moroccan decor, and stone bathroom. We were there over New Year so cold at night and early morning but you have heating via the air con unit and also an electric plug in heater if needed-we were very warm in the room. Breakfast was served in the courtyard whatever time we arranged and was very peaceful there. Internet worked perfectly in our room aswell as the courtyard. We would recommend eating at Le Jardin only a short walk from the Riad and fantastic food and atmoshphere, Highly recommend this Riad. Thank you to Adil and Badas for a wonderful stay.

I had a great time at Riad Cannelle. The host was very helpful, and the room was incredible. The only downside is the entrance- we walked around for a little while before finding the Riad (it is down a small alley, and there aren't any good signs for the entrance).

Very warm and welcoming front staff. Greeted with tea and pastry (like at most riads). Nice large rooms, either a bath or shower depending on which room given. Beds standard like other riads. Host provided map and directions. Very helpful with arranging for taxi and breakfast at your requested time. Overall very good experience, would stay again. Entrance to Riad off a Main Street in Medina, but door is hidden in a smaller alley to the right. Difficult to find the first time and of course very annoying getting harassed by children, which happens on the way to any Riad.

A well presented Riad that was a stones throw away from the start of the Souks and within walking distance from most major landmarks. Although within the busy Medina, once inside the Riad it is quiet, peaceful and relaxing with helpful and friendly staff day and night, and and beautiful, traditional decor. It was easy enough to find despite the maze that makes up the Medina.

This was my first experience staying in a Riad, is completely difference to a regular hotel living. Was great, living like in a private castle. But you have to be prepare to deal with the neighborhood that is a little difficult. If you want to know Marrakesh as a regular resident this is the place to choose. Alic and Bad knows how to deals with everything you will need.

We found this was a fabulous place to stay for a real feel for Morocco. Being based in Medina gave us the opportunity to explore the old town souks on foot and the Riad staff were always on hand to give advice and directions. We really liked the fresh mint tea we were served on arrival, and thoroughly enjoyed the Tagine meal we ordered one evening, it was cooked to perfection. Knowing the ingredients had been bought at the local market and prepared on site that day made it really special. Our room was well appointed, clean and beautifully decorated in the local style, and our en-suite bathroom was perfect. The roof top terrace was lovely, although this time of year meant it was too hot in the day time to enjoy it properly. We would highly recommend a stay here for anything from a few days to weeks. There is so much to see locally, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It was truly a piece of lovely calm in a hectic city. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

We stayed 4 nights at the riad. Room was spacious and all conveniences thoughtfully provided. Breakfast was quite good. Staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Badr was soft spoken and very apologetic about noise from a early morning rooster and noisy guests in the downstairs room. Adil spoke English well and was efficient and helped find us a day trip. But he is not at all pushy which we liked, unlike the hotel in Fes. Recommend taking the transfer to the hotel if this is your first time as finding the place could be tricky. Once at the hotel it is possible to navigate using the map and Google maps. Riad is about a 15 minutes walk from the main square Jmaa el Fnaa and the Medina or you could take a Petit taxi which we never did.

Just on the edge of the main area in the medine. Marrakech is very full of tourists. At first very difficult to find but once you get your bearings taxis drop you off very near. Staff very helpful. Very pleasant courtyard. Air conditioned rooms but sheet could have been a bit larger. If you ask they will cook an excellent evening meal and it was served beautifully.Could have been a bit more generous on soap and there was no shower gel or shampoo. All in all can highly recommend

Returned to the hotel after taking a side trip to another city. Originally left our bags there and when we got back in, we were able to go straight to our rooms and our bags are already inside. Also, even though they were two reservations, they didn't make us pay for both stays until the end of our second stay. Staff was very helpful friendly. We wanted to see what the other rooms were like as they were all different in case we came back, and since nobody was using them at the time (off season). All the rooms were great, but of course the more expensive ones were bigger and fancier. Still, all rooms were nice and I'd be willing to stay in any of them. Gave us free mint tea to our room when requested. A must stay! However, while it is easy to get to, it is hard to initially find, make sure to avoid the seedy taxis and arrange a pick-up if you don't know how to get there.

Needed a hotel for Marrakech. Got to the hotel, greeted with mint tea while our room was being prepared. Stayed in the hotel, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Room is great and even has a sort of balcony to the inner courtyard, which itself is beautiful. The breakfast in the morning was nice. Upon finding out that we had no hot water, the staff allowed us to use a shower in an empty room for the night, and we had hot water by morning. This was the first of two stays in this hotel (left the city and came back), and since I didn't want to lug my suitcases for an overnight trip in another city, they allowed us to keep our baggage in the hotel. If you do not know how to get to this hotel (ex: you're just arriving), I HIGHLY suggest you ask for the shuttle to the hotel from the airport. They said they send out emails. Reply to it. I don't remember seeing one (might be my own fault, not sure), but feel free to call the hotel or email them. The hotel is difficult to find in a narrow alley and taxis like to rip off tourists and they even get you to use a "guide" who ask for way too much money (if this happens to you, don't feel pressured to pay them anything near what they want, they are just kids scamming you).

The riad was hidden down a couple of alleys - but don't let that put you off. It is in the perfect location for sightseeing the 'real Marrakech'. After your first day out, you soon find your way around. The owner was incredibly welcoming and the riad serene and peaceful. This is a traditional riad and was very clean and comfortable. Make sure you have at least one meal here as the food was amazing, and designed to suit your tastes. I would definitely recommend riad Cannelle.

The first thing you see when you are dropped off is a door at the end of an alley and you think "what am I doing here?" However, the door opens to a calm peaceful world where the owners and staff look after you very well and are very friendly. My room was very clean and tidy but as a double room it would be a little snug for 2 people. As the room opens onto the open courtyard you can feel the cool night air so you need to wrap up for bed at this time of the year. It is a daunting walk down to the main square as you run the gauntlet of numerous souks and their charming but persistent owners! The trick is not to look at them or their goods and they leave you alone. If not though resign yourself to haggling and having to buy something! Eating at the Riad is recommended as the meal I had on my last night was very nice. Expect to pay 20 euros for a 3 course meal. Overall the Riad is well worth visiting and a pleasant change from the standard chain hotel room.

A very friendly riad run by Adil and Badr. These guys make you feel very welcome and have great knowledge of the local areas. The riad is a very serene place where you can escape the chaotic culture outside. We had a lovely 4 poster bed with lounge area and ensuite. The outside surrounds as with most riads within the medina and juxtaposed with local life which on first sight seems a bit threatening but you soon realise its not the case. Food in the riad was OK, the tagine a bit lacking in flavour. Best food by miles is in the square with the local guys who set up sausage and kebab bbqs every night. The local restaurant that the riad recommended is extremely expensive - a fixed price of around £100 for 2 people vs a typical evening meal price of £20. A wonderful riad for an amazing city

On arriving at the riad via a very scary alley way I thought what have we done. However as soon as were in the riad all doubts vanished. The riad is beautiful. Is so peaceful in the main courtyard in the hotel and we were welcomed with a cup of tea while our bags were taken to our room. Badr the night manager was an absolute gem. As we had arrived when it was dark and we wanted to go out for food he was more than happy to take us to the main road to get a taxi and help us with landmarks so w could find our way home again. The riaad is perfectly placed for the souks and only takes ten minutes to walk to the main square. The day manager (cant remember his name!) took us half the way to the square during the day and helped us get our bearings. Nothing was too much hassle for the staff at the riad. After a long day of shopping we got back and sat in the courtyard asking for coffee which was no bother and arrived with cake too! Breakfast was traditional morrocon breakfast of Cake and bread. Delicious. Topped off by a wonderful cup of coffee. Would go as far to say the best coffee i have ever had! Mini bar in the room was great and was no trouble to get this topped up (we had to ask for more beer which again was no trouble) and was very reasonably priced. I would recommend this riad to anyone and will definately stay here if I return to Marrakesh. If I had to find a bad thing too say it would be that I had to ask for toliet roll twice as not enough in the room :)
