The riad was lovely, stunning rooftop and truly wonderful staff. The riad is a little off of the beaten track and not in the centre of Marrakech but I would highly recommend staying here. The staff are very helpful and go above and beyond.

Cons: We were right by the main entrance to the riad, so there was quite a lot of foot traffic and we could hear things being prepared in the kitchen was almost next door to us, whilst it isn't the biggest issue - I would definitely recommend taking some earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

The room was very spacious and clean. The Riad is very pretty and calming. Big comfy bed! Nice breakfast also.

Cons: Unfortunately the jacuzzi was not working for the time we were there and this was disappointing as it was one of the main reasons I booked it. The location of the Riad is ok, a bit off the beaten track. The Riad could do with putting more signage up also as it’s tucked away in an alley way which was hard to find.

We had a wonderful time staying here. Location was great, 10 minutes walk from the medina so allowed a chance to capture a little of the local flavour, enjoy peace and quiet and only a short walk from the centre. Facilities were excellent, the dinners were the best local food we ate, breakfasts were almost too Much food and the staff, especially Mustafa couldn’t do enoigh for us. We will be back

Loved it super beautiful! I loved the jacuzzi on the roof terrace that was my highlight! The rooms are very beautiful with an eye for details!

Cons: Only thing is that the shower wasn’t working properly. Such a beautiful shower but then sadly the water flow wasn’t good. There could be one more extra plug for charging the phone next to the bed where the night lights are plugged. I found the hidden extra costs a bit confusing. Like charging for a bottle of water - I find a bottle a day should be included especially in places where you cannot drink the tab water. On top of that u was charged for a bottle that I never received, which could be resolved. But it left a bit of a weird taste for an otherwise great stay. So I think water should be included and maybe if possible the tourist tax as well, so that it doesn’t feel weird when one has to pay random things when checking out. It would be just a better experience if all was settled already.

Breakfast was probably our highlight. Would have been nice to be asked wether we preferred tea or coffee, rather than serving us coffee which we both detest. Also, I could understand French and the key moment when my husband had returned in the hotel late ruined our stay. I was not going to use the services in offer more than what was expected, if you had let me in with the extra key. I just needed a bed to rest on after a day being away. Other than that please continue enjoying welcoming guests because it is a lovely place you have

Sehr nettes Personal!

Schade!!!

The value for money is excellent. The Riad is pleasant, the welcome is warm, and the food is generous and of good quality.

Cons: The bathroom equipment seems a bit dated, and the Riad is slightly off-center from the main activity hubs of Marrakech. We were stopping over on our way back from Mirleft, and since we know the city and weren’t planning to go out, it didn’t bother us. However, for those who want to be at the heart of the action, this could be a drawback.

There were people outside and we had to walk down an alley/small side street. Where we are from, you don’t walk down alleys/side streets at night. But we were pleasantly surprised. It was absolutely beautiful. The Riad and area are full of rich culture and warm faces. The host family is incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Cons: We couldn’t stay longer than we did. There were no problems for us. There are no fridges or TVs in the rooms, but it helps you enjoy the atmosphere more and you can relax. Wifi works well.

Quiet and out of the way, yet still walkable to the centre. Accommodating and welcoming staff, Abdou in particular made me feel at home. The room, much like the whole riad, felt like a sanctuary and made for a very relaxing few days.

Cons: The temperature control on the showers can lead to some uncomfortable moments and the roof terrace could do with some investment into, as it has the potential to be a beautiful spot.

The riad is a little out of the main hustle and bustle, a 20-minute walk to the center. But that's perfect. It's quiet, contained, and off the busy streets. My time in the riad was fantastic; the staff are incredibly helpful and wonderfully friendly. Anything we needed was sorted in minutes. The rooms are very comfortable, and the bed is a dream.

Cons: If I had to choose one thing to write, it would be that the breakfast is a bit too sweet. More savory additions to the plate would be great, but it's a huge selection of local breads and sweets, so it's hard to go wrong.

Everything suited us well and the staff were exceptional in their care for us. The two dinners we had at the riad were the best meals we had during our stay in Marrakech. One of the dinners - for 6 of us - we only requested at about 5pm but the team went out of their way to feed us well. The shower head in our bathroom snapped off on one of the nights. We reported it the next morning and it was fixed by the end of the day. The rooms were serviced daily, with fresh linen & towels. We would definitely return here!

Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.

This was the first Riad my nephew and I visited on his first trip to morroco. He was impressed. We were welcomed by the host with what was according to my newphew's words, the best tea he had ever tasted. The Riad is a bit hard to find but the neighborhood people will guide you if you ask. The entrance door is bright red. Parking is free on the street nearby. The room was compact but well decorated and with comfortable beds, waterbottles, A/C and great shower. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. It is in a local neighborhood right on the edge of the medina. It is easy to walk to the main attractions in the Medina. Well recommended.

Wonderful team. Beautiful room and space. Comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast. Nice bathroom.

Cons: The location of the Riad was just far enough away from Jamaa El Fna to be too far. It was a 25-30 minute walk. There aren't too many food/dinner options close to the riad. Also, the pool is only open from 11am-7pm.

We stayed 4 nights at La Porte Rouge and overall we were happy with the facility and the staff was very eager to accommodate us. They have a lovely rooftop terrace where we enjoyed our evening wine and a very pleasant restaurant area in the lobby - dinner was terrific overall, with delicious tagines and soup and lovely salads on request. Breakfast was very heavy on the carbs! 4 different bread options like pancake, croissant, bread, etc and very nice but no protein and heavy all together - not at all what suits us - then on our last day, checking out we noticed a couple having an omelette and we never knew that was an option! So maybe we just needed to ask? As far as location, we chose to stay outside of the old medina for the quiet - but it was a 25 minute walk each way back to the hotel from the old medina where most restaurants are and so a disincentive to go back out for different dinner options. Still, we ate 3 good dinners at La Porte Rouge and one back out in the medina and we felt we had a very good experience. The hotel is peaceful and quiet.

The Riad is around 20 minutes away from the main plaza (Jmaa el-Fnaa). It is located near a slightly busy road close to the outer walls of the Medina (old city), which makes it ideal to see attractions, that are not on Jmaa el-Fnaa and take taxis if necessary. The Riad welcomes you like an Oasis once you walk through the beautiful red door on the street where it is located. Both the Riad and the room are very tastefully decorated. We took the suite and did not want to leave the Riad as it was magical, the photos don't do it justice. The bed was one of the most comfortable I came across. The room was clean, the staff was always ready to accommodate whatever we needed. The Riad is super quiet and peaceful, providing a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend it.

Cons: Eggs for breakfast would be awesome (although you can order whatever you want - even full English breakfast - if you reach out 24h in advance). So not a big deal.

Nice room. Simple, clean. We loved the old doors and wrought iron fixtures. The place could use some updating. The bathroom smelled a bit off from the plumbing. The hot tub on the roof was cold. Our room could use some paint, shower tiles need to be redone. Nothing major but needs some sprucing up. The atmosphere was calm and quiet and it definitely gave offered fhe authentic feel we were looking for. The staff were lovely to deal with, very friendly and accommodating. The place is a bit tricky to find but that’s part of the adventure. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the nearest square, which isn’t bad, but watch out for traffic.

The room was beautifully decorated and cozy.

Cons: 1) Before our arrival, I explicitly asked if the Jacuzzi on the rooftop was working because I wanted to have a relaxing afternoon with my husband after a long journey. But it was a disaster!!! Unfortunately the suction hole in the middle of the Jacuzzi sucked in my leg very violently so that I cut my toe on the sharp Mosaik tiles. I mentioned it to the manager and only got a "sorry". Besides that the water was only lukewarm and the bubblers were only working in one corner of the tub. It was NOT looking like in the pictures they show on booking.com!!! I don't have very high or extremely luxurious expectations. But what happened is unacceptable - it's dangerous! This could easily even break your fingers! 2) During the night we were hearing a knocking noise that was coming and going and really disturbed our sleep. We couldn't locate where exactly it was coming from. Maybe it was windy and it was coming from the rooftop? We slept very bad. Unfortunately this was a very disappointing experience overall, especially for the high price we paid for this one night that was supposed to be a romantic getaway. I reached out to the Riad and received an apology but no compensation of any kind. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

The service was really great. The staffs are super nice and helpful. We were arrived before the check in time, and they let us to use ´kind of living room’ for changing and prepare ourself before go visiting the city, which is takes quite time. The Riad is so beautiful and clean, even though we hadn’t enough chance to chill inside the Riad because we were always outside, but it was a lovely place.

Cons: In general we satisfied with all the things in this Rid. Expect the shower. Sometimes it’s difficult to adjust the shower between hot and cold water. And suddenly the water was super hot for few seconds. But it’s was not a big deal, we still enjoyed our stay there

The Riad La Porte Rouge was a fantastic hotel to stay at. Full of charm and personality. The owner and his staff practically bent over backwards to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. I found the room to be clean and a great size for me, my wife and son. Due to the time of year we visited, the room was particularly cold at night. The air conditioning unit didn't help much but the Riad was kind enough to lend us their portable heater which helped to take the edge off a bit. The water in the shower was also a bit temperamental and I ended up with a luke warm or colder than I'd like shower on one or two occassions. Really not a deal breaker though. The location was a very straightforward walk to the centre, it took about 30 - 35 minutes and was safe and pleasant so long as you watch out for motorbikes. Overall, my family and I very much enjoyed staying at this Riad and would recommend it.

This place is amazing. Don't let the location stop you from coming. It seems a bit out but it's a short and safe walk to the main attractions. It's hidden but it's a hidden gem. Truly worth booking. The building is beautiful and the rooms are absolutely gorgeous. A lot of attention to detail. You are greeted with a smile and a welcome drink and snack. 5 Star service. Mustapha is very kind and helpful and welcoming. The area is quiet and there is good privacy. They have a jacuzzi and a pool. Delicious meals on sight as well. I recommend this as a stay

Cons: From last visit 11 months ago due to being more busy I presume not the personal touch from staff and then required cash payment for accommodation but last time no issue with card payment!!

Excellent service. Big rooms Did not have card facilities when I had to pay for services after querying items in the bill. I had to set off in the dark in search of a cash point which was very stressful as I didn’t feel safe. 6 euros for a pot of mint tea is very steep when you can have full menus for that same price outside the property. Despite advertising a pool it was not in use with tables and a flower pot clearly blocking access. The advertised jacuzzi was neither hot or fully functioning (only 3 spouts worked) and parts of it were sharp to the touch cutting the skin when sitting on the tiles. Nearly 30 minutes walk to the Medina but close to Badi Palace and Saadien Tombs.

We enjoyed our stay, the interior is in maroccan style, Nice warm jacuzzi, very child friendly housekeepers and chef. Breakfast was really delicious, but not very extensive (no fruit, …).

Cons: Upon arrival the manager suggested the possibility of a special dinner in the riad, a rare occasion as it is a weekly dinner in turn with other riads. However, this ‘special’ dinner happens every other day and is not of very good quality, further there is a musician present during the dinner and he is playing until 11.30pm making is difficult for our child of 2y to sleep earlier. We asked one time the manager to fix a taxi to the city center and to was the most expensive one during our whole trip.

The property itself is amazing. An authentic Moroccan experience. Hospitality exceeded expectations. The only thing of concern was to find the property. My husband and I had our own car. Navigation brought us in the proximity of the property. But without the help of a local we would not have been able to find it. We had to park our car on the street( we were told it was safe). Then we had to walk with our luggage approximately 500 m through narrow passages to our hotel. This was an experience of its own , but I suggest that the property places some signs to be easily found. Bazaar around the property was noisy and dirty. Locals are friendly and helpful.

Of the hundreds of 'Riads' (small hotels around interior courtyards typically without swimming pools and in the centre of Moroccan cities), Riad la Porte Rouge is superb while understated. With excellent wifi (though I often just connected off my Canadian roaming mobile coverage via Morocco Telephone), the place is an oasis in busy Marrakech in which to relax and, if really necessary, to work. Even the dominant cat is kind (and eccentric and demands milk from the caffe au lait served in the massive breakfast). The terrace is relaxing and there is a massage room. The neighbourhood is interesting. It is about a ten minute (complicated) walk from the major tourist neighbourhoods on a quiet side alley with regular Moroccans rather than tourists the majority in this quarter. For anyone with sensitive lungs, this alley (too narrow for autos and scooters) is an oasis (of less dirty) breathable air. Most of the tourist areas, see a lot of scooter and taxi traffic with the exhausting building up and sitting in the narrow streets. Once off the main street, the tranquillity of Riad la Porte Rouge is stunning and a balm after the extreme tourism not far away. Mustafa, who created this place with a powerful vision, is still leading this team of very kind and competent people. Sadly, Riad de la Porte Rouge fills up fast these day so I have not been able to make a reservation for December.

Cons: For the winter months, reservations must be made months in advance.

Lovely riad on the southern fringe of Marrakesh - about a 15 minute walk to the main square. Big room with air conditioning and lovely view over the central courtyard. Facilities in the riad were great including the jacuzzi and pool. Adil was particularly helpful and recommended several restaurants.

Cons: Toilet isn't a closed partition between the room and bathroom, although seemed to be very common in Morocco. Location gets tiring after walking to and from the centre several times. Breakfast is predominantly bread, with option to pay extra for a complete continental breakfast. Drinks are very expensive inside the riad compared to local shops.

This was the first riad we stayed in upon our arrival in Morocco and it felt like stepping into another world when we came in through the doors. It was beautifully furnished and felt very authentic. It appears to be family run which is rare for Marrakech, as we were told that most of the riads are owned by foreigners. We only booked the evening before and they got in touch right away to help us organise pickup from the airport. The driver walked us to the door so we can’t comment on how easy it is to find. Mustafa was so helpful and even ran to the nearby pharmacy to help us check if it was open. They have an alcohol licence so we could enjoy beers and cocktails in the courtyard. This was a nice bonus as didn’t seem common in other riads we’ve stayed in since. The rooftop courtyard is beautiful and there was a jacuzzi which we hadn’t expected. Max the eighteen year old cat was also stalking around in all his glory and we had fun playing with him.

Cons: The plumbing was a little temperamental and the beds are hard but this seemed to be the case in a few riads we stayed in during the trip, so maybe it’s common in Morocco? The wall between the bathroom and bedroom doesn’t go all the way up to the ceiling, which was a little weird but wasn’t an issue as the other person would just sit in the many common areas whilst one of us was in the bathroom.

The property is simply stunning. It features amazing Morrocan interior deaign, very authentic. We woke up each day to a paradise, opening the wooden shutters and wnjoying the dexor and size of our suite. The stay felt like being home, and the staff made sure to attend to our wishes and questions, they felt like family. Transport, hamman trip, and dinner were organised smoothly. Breakfast was always sweet and not too much, but always somehow enough. Mustafa made sure to make a freah mix of juices veey early in the morning, and even when we by mistake flooded the bathroom noone made an issue of it. The property is old charm, it is not without a beoken tile or a speck if dampness, but it is to be expected in Martakesh, and adds to its unique character. Sheets were clean and we had hot water all week. Thw property offers a luxurious brand of toiletries in the shower. Dinners were made with love and we ahd a pleasure to taste some nice Morocvan wine. I will miss the old cat Max which stays at this riad. Do expect some loud invites to prayers over the courae of the day as a mosque is right on the doorstep, which is quite exhilarating. I am so very happy we chose this beautiful friendly Riad, although it meant taking expenaive taxis to the main Medina if you did not want to walk some 20 mins. Just a gorgeous stay, vwry romantic. Thank you to all the staff.

Pretty riad from where you can easily reach the airport. Also it is easy to find by yourself and there is no gang of boys waiting trying to rip you off. I had a nice suit. WiFi is fast and stabile. There is a lovely heated small pool on the roof top and a Beduin tent with a cat sleeping inside. The decor of the place is traditional and well done. There are parkings in the street close by. Do not cross the white line on the street. There is always a cop close by watching this street (hiding behind the gate). There is also good and cheap street food close by.

Cons: Breakfast is okay but for the price under average, no eggs, no cheese, no fruit. Di4tkyxzptylz lzlxt, lgn,,f fn,zlyzxp

Upon arrival the riad was disappointing. Cat was lounging in the waiting area on couch. I insisted on another room because the first was very inhospitable "cold &damp". I ask for another room and was granted a room up two flights of stairs. The second room was warmer but very little. For the price that each night cost I felt it was not worth a third of what was charged. I have no complaint about the food or dinners prepared, but helper name Mustafa was a very shady character. He talked about discounts on drinks and dinner but when I had paid for dinner for three nights at the beginning of my stay I was led to believe that all charges had been paid. But on the last night I was told I owed another 100 or more dollars by being charged for seltzer water which I was offered. He never said anthing about what it cost at the time I said I would have some with my dinner. The next night he just brought it to the table. Our Moroccan guide said Riad Le Porte Rogue was not worth the price that it charged and he wouldn't advise anyone to stay at it for 109 dollars a night and I agreed after staying there. After I question Mr. Mustafa about the charges he got very angry that night and the next morning he would not speak to us. He was very unprofessional and was not an accomodating person. I would not advise anyone to stay there and I know there are better and more pleasing Riads in Morocco.I will never spend money on this type of Riad again. IT WAS NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. A gem of a place to stay in! Solo-female traveler here and I couldn't have found a better spot to stay in Marrakech. The staff in this Riad are really welcoming, kind, and helpful people. You can book many excursions with the hotel, hammams, and have amazing dinners! Mustafa will help you know the real prices, so please don't rush in buying anything! I felt at home in La Porte Rouge, the neighborhood is safe day and night and you are close to the Kings Palace! A good 15 min walk to the Medina. If I ever return, it will be here! I couldn't recommend this place more than enough.

The first thing they tell you when you arrive is to make yourself at home and they actually mean it. The team there will go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable and enjoying your stay. The breakfast they provide everyday is authentic, clean, and most importantly delicious. Besides the food, they also have a variety of excursions and tours for you to partake in (at a price, of course). In terms of location, it’s a 30 minute walk to the Medina. I will definitely be visiting Marrakech again and will definitely be staying at this riad. Overall, I was very happy and comfortable staying here.

I like to thank Jaleel, Mustapha, Fauzia for providing above and beyond customer service. The moment walking in the riad felt like your living in the real Morocco. The scenery of the riad is a wow experience. The place carries very peaceful and calm energy to relax. The rooms carry decorative design bringing fabulous moroccan accessories, painting to keep your eyes focused in the room. I appreciate Mustapha for always taking care me like am a part of his family. Jalil for always answering any of my concerns or complaints in a timely manner. Fauzia for always being welcoming, open about my room accommodation. Everyone in the riad worked as a team. Mustapha always had my breakfast ready by request for dietary reasons. The dinner tajine was amazing. Cooked very fresh no stomach upsets. I had eaten dinner three times at riad la Porte. I highly recommend staying in this riad for many reasons. The experience was above positive. Amazing experience.

The staff was very accommodating. We arrived around 1 in the morning and were greeted with a meal. We were allowed to leave our luggage after checkout in order to grab something to eat, and they even setup a rent a car for us. The facility was beautiful, very “Moroccan” they even had a jacuzzi and a room for massages. It was walking distance to the main square, but still far enough away from the chaos. Overall Great short stay.

Seeing above that I was meant to receive a beverage credit, view, and upgrade it is disappointing that I did not. Overall, I liked the riad. It was decorated in a traditional style and was homey in its feel. There was a housecat who kept trying to jump on my lap. The staff was friendly but the older fellow, host and cook, wavered btwn grumpy and mildly friendly. His cooking was good, though, and I enjoyed the home cooked style meals. My room was very pretty and traditional, but I will say my bathroom had some issues (the shower drain was clogged and one of the shower faucet handles kept falling off and being brass hurt when it hit my foot). It was a solid base, and comforting as Marrakech with its busy streets, throngs of tourists, hawkers, & hustle can be overwhelming for visitors & a woman alone (me). The staff was helpful getting me drivers but I will warn you that I was quite overcharged for that as after the first stop I asked the driver to cancel the rest & drop me at the Yves St. Laurent St. and just get a ride back & was still charged for the whole day. I managed to get the down $10 at the end, but only with some serious discussion. $46 USD is too much anyway, but esp in my case. It is $2-4 for a taxi almost anywhere there. Just beware of being charged US/EU prices for things that are actually cheap here. Also bring cash for massages. The city in general made me feel a bit overcharged wherever they could, to be honest.

Excellent riad and perfect location!! It's on the edge of the Medina, so it's not loud like I would assume many others are. The staff were very friendly and just kind and laid-back. I really appreciated them! Would DEFINITELY recommend this as a great, traditional place to stay. (the WIFI only works downstairs and the water is hot, but the pressure is a bit low, but that is how they all are) I LOVE the decor and the resident cat. If you happen to be there on a Friday night, I'd highly recommend doing the folkloric night where they have traditional musicians come with dancing and a nice dinner. Only thing that could be improved is the shuttle from the airport. Most of the other riads seem to arrange to hold up a sign with your name on it, but this one is confusing in that you have to exit and then go behind all the people waiting to find a tall banner with like 10 riads listed on it. (not the clearest thing to do when arriving super early/late at night).

The Riad is tucked away like an oasis, yet you can hail a taxi at the end of short alleyway. Inside the welcome is wonderful as a true riad should be. Plenty of places to relax and small pool. The riad was very nice and authentic, however the rooms are in need of refurbishment. Firstly in the bathroom, there is a hole in the ceiling and therefore is a leak so water drips down on you. Secondly, in the shower, a lot of the tiles were cracked. Thirdly, the shower head was a broken and in need of replacement as it set off 2 separate streams. Also, I found a red stain on my towel which was unpleasant. The riad's location is not the best. The riad is located next to a nice mosque, however don't worry about over sleeping as you will probably be woken up early in the morning due to the call to prayer (mu'azzin) nearby. Otherwise, the hospitality was very nice.

Staff was very nice and helpful, giving us great recommendations on what to do and where to go in the medina. The terrace is amazing in the evening to enjoy a drink or in the afternoon to soak up the sun. The water in the pool and Jacuzzi was not the cleanest - although it did not stop us from going in it. The main square is a 20 min walk (of which 10 mins are already through a busy street with shops in the heart of the medina). It felt very safe and it was a nice walk back to the hotel. Breakfast was amazing! I would definitely come back!

Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant mostly due to the welcoming nature of the staff (Jalil and Sofian) . This was our first time in Marrakesh staying at a Riad. After doing extensive research, we decided to book Riad La porte Rouge based on previous reviews and we weren't disappointed. As soon as we stepped in, our host Jalil made us felt like it was our home, greeted us with Moroccan Tea and gave us all the informations that we needed by explaining where to visit and marked everything for us on the map provided. He also planned our first day out with Ameen who was exceptionally great, nothing was too much for him when we were asking him all sorts of questions and to take us back to places. Jalil also planned our Hammam with another Riad and it was a great experience for all of us, in a different setting and we got to visit a different part of the city as well. The food was exceptional at the Riad as we've had most our dinners there, full of flavours and different tagines everyday. I can't recommend the Riad enough to our friends here and we are already planning our next trip soon. Jalil, Ameen and Mo were awesome and please keep up the good work.

This place is amazing! Jalil was our host along with Max the riad cat and he (Jalil) was better than any hotel concierge! He knew all the places we wanted to go and booked all the excursions and restaurants and taxis he showed us the routes to take and recommended places to go too. We were upgraded when we arrived and the room was spacious and stunning! The air con certainly helped after arriving back from all day shopping and exploring. The riad is only a 10-15 minute walk to the main square. It’s a short taxi ride from the main souks that you always see online. There’s a jacuzzi (only half works) on the roof with sun beds and a pretty seating area in the shade a freezing cold pool in the reception area. Overall the riad is lovely! Looks questionable from the street however it’s a lovely little hideaway surprisingly quiet.

Overall, my first impression of La Porte rouge was disappointing firstly because our transfer wasn’t outside the terminal - instead he was out of the airport in a corner without any signage with our names or Riad name. The Riad was in a sketchy neighbourhood not close to the square or surrounding souks at least a 15-20 minute walk. The manager was rude and pushy and insisted we have our traditional dinner upon arrival which was at 10pm in the evening which was disappointing and unappetising. However , the female staff were very polite and friendly. Also bare in mind they prefer not to take credit card and charge a fee so have cash with you. Overall the Riad itself was pleasant with a nice rooftop and a standard breakfast however the service and location were lacking heavily.

Jelli and Mustafa of the hotel staff were some of the nicest people we met in Morocco and ensured we had a great time. The tagine we were served at dinner was possibly the best we had during our 5 day trip in Morocco and the breakfasts were delicious. Jelli sent out for fresh mint leaves to make us tea and arranged for a wonderful guide (can't remember name) who showed us around the souk without pressuring us at all, in stark contrast to our guide in Fes who was all about the commissions and skipped showing us some sights to get us to buy more. They also arranged for us to see the Fantasia show and dinner at Chez Ali which was a wonderful show. We were so impressed by the tranquil atmosphere they managed to create with a mosque and the crazy medina literally around the corner. Highly recommended!

The pictures of the property were probably a few years old and weren't reflective of the hotel now. The breakfasts were very poor, the room we had was cold, draughty with poor security and also very dark with no tea making facilities, TV and the toilet stopped flushing and needed fixing. As well, there was a shortage of hot water! The location wasn't the best either with most attractions some walk away.

Max the cat (and Sultan) was a pleasant feature each day. The staff answered questions and were attentive at breakfast and whenever help was required. The roof top patio would be very pleasant in the warmer months - quiet, isolated and full of sun...the streets can be noisy and polluted and this would be a respite. I was there in December, a colder time, and didn’t benefit from it. I recommend La Porte Rouge for anyone who has never been to Marrakech. It also has many small local vendors nearby and one the 10 minute walk to the Médina - so you can buy oranges, baked goods, grilled meat and others at local prices with being hassled or overcharged.

Beautifully located next to the Royal Palace; Riad La Porte Rouge provided us with the escape that we needed. I would like to give a MASSIVE thank you to ABDUL for his excellent Customer Service skills and hospitality, the trip wouldn’t have been the same without the service he provided, he definitely deserves recognition for his hard work and hospitality to EVERY single guest that arrives at the hotel. All other staff members are extremely friendly too but Abdul certainly stood out as memorable staff member I would like to see again in future. I highly recommend the dinner at the hotel as it is top quality and a VERY good portion The breakfast is basic but extremely delicious. The city centre is a 20 minute walk from the hotel and although the walk is not the best it’s over reasonably quicker than it seems once you get used to the route. The rooftop terrace is wonderful for those days when you want to escape the city. Say hello to Max the cat, and welcome him as much as he welcomes you, he is adorable! TOP TIPS: Keep an eye on your hotel bill and book excursions (if you haven’t pre booked any). We spent two weeks in Marrakech and went for the two night desert excursion in addition to the excursions we had booked already of which I would highly recommend.

Once you are inside the Riad everything is spectacular. The staff is incredibly kind, the rooms are nice and have a great soul. And the Riad is impeccably clean. The area is a bit chaotic and we had a really hard time finding the Riad (first trip first day. We were not used to Marrakesh chaos) and we did not find the walk to Jemma El-fns easy at all...But once we were used to it it was fine. It’s a 20 min walk. Inside the Riad is complete peace, no idea how but you cannot hear anything from outside. Very nice Riad and good price.

Not sure how this place came so highly rated. Here are the issues: Location: Not near Bahia Palace. Not really near anything. In a very sketchy neighborhood. The woman next to us at breakfast was complaining about feeling extremely uncomfortable in the area. When we asked the evening staff person for restaurant recommendations nearby, he said there are none and offered to make us a "hotdog". Room: The room smelled musty and the shower was dirty and in poor condition. I know this place is relatively inexpensive, but we stayed at another Riad earlier in the week that was clean and near everything. Staff: Night staff was relatively useless in helping us navigate the area. Food: We only had the breakfast, which was good except for the orange juice that tasted like Sunny Dew.

It was just far away enough from the market square that it was quiet and at the same time close enough to it for pleasant walk.

We had never heard of a "Riad" and were eager to try one. When the taxi pulled up in front of some muddy, dilapidated buildings in the old medina, we panicked. However, after going down some small twisting lanes we arrived at this stunningly beautiful oasis. It was a perfect 3-day visit. The guests tend to eat dinner in the Riad's and the cooking was excellent. The staff, Mustafa, Abdul, Fatima, and Rashida could not have been nicer. And, there is a big orange tabby named "Max" that everyone loves! Amal, the masseuse was also fabulous. La Porte Rouge is heaven on earth.

Beautiful gem with great hosts and decor. The Riad as manned 24 hours and the staff are very friendly. They even fixed us up early morning coffee and cakes on the day of our excursion. It’s 15 mins walk away from the busy and congested Médina area. Ideal if you don’t like noise. I would go back again.

Nice staff, but riad could use some updating. Our room was so small and it was almost $75, not a good value. Location isn’t the best either

Outside the hustle and bustle of the souks but in with the local population. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Will help to organise any trips but note these will be at a cost that you can better elsewhere. A great Riad, an old family home giving you a true experience of Marrakech.

This has been the best experience we have had at any accommodation! Mustafa was so friendly and kind with his time, taking us through options and ideas for our travels and how to navigate Marrakech. The accommodation and Riad was beautiful and comfortable. If you have the opportunity to taste Mustafas food - highly recommend!

The reception staff was very helpful. The inner courtyard is an amazing place and the terrace is lovely. We had our first dinner there in the courtyard and then my wife had a pedicure and massage there at the hotel. We had a beautiful spacious and exotic room. I can highly recommend staying here.
