Gorgeous renovated Kasbah. Traditional stay. Enough room for all of us in the executive suite. We felt like we were living in shabby-chic luxury. Staff was excellent.

Cons: Hidden fees. Beware when booking via booking.com. There are hidden fees, and the additional costs are very high for the area. For example, dinner for is 450dh, probably high because there are no other options nearby, but this was fine. Though the total for dinner was a lot more than the quoted 450dh, but this is on us for not asking for more information upon checkout (we were unfortunately in a rush). The unfortunate issue is that we booked through booking.com and prepaid but the hotel staff didn’t know this or pretended not to and charged us for the room again upon checkout. When they were shown receipts that proved that we were double charged, they continued to insist that the first charge never happened. There was also an additional fee for the camel rides (transport to the desert as this is not on site) that we were charged upon checkout. They never warned us about this charge. We were happy to pay it but I recommend that you ask them for all costs upfront, including transports to activities, to avoid surprises.

Fabulous location and has the potential to be the most amazing hotel, but charging 5* money for 2-3* service unfortunately.

Cons: Staff need to have a lesson in customer service. No prices available for drinks or food. Room not worth the money, unless you are sharing .... didn't realise the Presidential Suite had 2 bedrooms!

If you need a place to stop from the busyness of life and be still in a place that offers a welcoming and calm atmosphere, great hospitality and great food then this is the place to be. This was my first time to Morocco, and even though I booked last minute Faouzia helped me arrange airport transfer with very little notice. When I first arrived I was captivated by the beauty of the Kasbah, the decor, and the consisent bird song heard by the pool. The staff were so kind and friendly from my arrival to leaving, and being a solo traveller, this only added to my sense of feeling safe and very relaxed. I was also able to arrange a massage on site which was fantastic. Thank you to all the staff at Kasbah Agafay you made my first trip to Morocco an exceptional time, and a time that I will forever be grateful to have had. A special thank you to Faouzia, Muhammed, Hamid, Hassan and Maria. It really is an oasis in the desert!

The calm and the inspiring design and decoration, the cleanness and the way they treat their guests. The food is outstanding, a genuine Moroccan mom food taste. Amazing rooftop views. The wine was on another level! The facilities top range the spa massages affordable and short notice. I genuinely recommend this hotel for big and small events as well.

Cons: We could not identify any negative aspects of the location since we were seeking a unique experience.

Where do I even begin? Kasbah Agafay is an absolute must-stay oasis on any journey through Morocco. Set in a peaceful location, it's perfectly positioned for easy access to both the Agafay Desert and the vibrant city of Marrakesh. The architecture is breathtaking, the gardens are immaculately maintained, and the sunsets are nothing short of magical. The rooms are equally stunning—beautifully designed and incredibly comfortable. But what truly sets this place apart is the people. Fouzia and her team were unbelievably kind and attentive. Their warmth and hospitality are what make Kasbah Agafay so special. We can’t wait to return next year.

Cons: Nothing! Everything over exceeded expectation.

Staff are amazing and accommodative. Kasbah was as you’d expect and was very authentically Moroccan. Food is far more expensive than expected BUT it was some of the best we experienced during our trip. They also made sure everything was freshly prepared and would cook additional items they knew we liked. The staff member Hamid was a gentleman and gave us a great insight into the culture, people and food. He is a huge asset to the Kasbah.

The Kasbah is beautifully restored, and it’s nice to feel like you’re staying in a part of authentic history. Faouzia and her team are so wonderful and welcoming, they taught us a lot about the local area and the history, and went above and beyond to help with anything we needed, and the food was amazing as well. It’s a very peaceful and convenient location at the gateway to the desert but still only a 25min taxi from Marrakech Medina, and all the activities of the desert are easy to get to.

We’ve worked with many hotels while organizing group trips, and Kasba Agafay stands out as one of the most professional and well-run places we’ve encountered. Every aspect of our stay was handled with care and attention to detail — from the smooth logistics to the warm hospitality. Among all the stops on our journey, this was by far the most memorable. Highly recommended for both individual travelers and organized groups.

Our family of four stayed in two tents and we all loved it. The tents were great, spacious and very comfortable. The staff was wonderfully friendly and accommodating. We ate all of our meals at their restaurant and found the food fantastic. The seasonal salad was a great break from the very meat-heavy diet of the previous few days. And it was peaceful to eat lunch in the shade near the pool. The pool was big, refreshing, and wonderful. The whole space was an intimate oasis in the agafay desert. We had a car and enjoyed the flexibility of driving into the agafay desert. I think without a car, we could also have arranged a trip to one of the resorts in the desert. (But reservations are helpful to have before picking a resort in agafay.) We drove in to Le boudouin to ride camels. If we stayed longer, we probably would've spent a half day and had a meal at Le Boudouin or Inara. But we would still stay at Kasbah Agafay. Lovely, intimate place.

The setting is beautiful and the room was perfect. Very friendly staff of the hotel (the servants from the restaurant are friendly but chaotic). The pool was great.

Cons: You really need to work hard on the restaurant-concept: the prices are incredibly high, the waiting times super long (we waited twice for more than 1,5h for the lunch) and quality is just average. Paying 40€ (400 MAD) for plain pasta with tomato-sauce for each of our children is just absurd and unacceptable, sorry. It is a real shame that the restaurant is that bad, because the rest of the hotel is truly very nice! Due to the location, there are no alternative restaurants nearby, so you are stuck with a very very bad deal that just ruins the experience.

A breathtaking 18th century castle in the Agafay desert in Morocco! We experienced a fantastic greeting on arrival to Morocco. During our stay we sampled traditional Moroccan tea and traditional Moroccan cuisine. The rooms and the grounds! Just wow! A truly relaxing space. Along with the incredible panoramic views of the Agafay desert and the Atlas mountains. They arranged once in a life time activities for us including traditional Hammam, quad biking and camel rides in the Agafay desert. The staff wen't above and beyond to ensure our stay was one to remember.

Wonderful staff - attentive and helpful. Really chilled and relaxing vibe. We especially enjoyed the sundowner drinks on the roof terrace.

Cons: Nothing really. It was quiet when we were there, which of course is part of the appeal, but I can imagine it might feel a little awkward in the dining room in the evening if you were the only guests eating. The food wasn’t cheap but was delicious so I’d certainly eat there if you stay.

I’m a discerning traveler who is a little tricky to please. Everything about the Kasbah Agafay was phenomenal. Our stay began with a warm welcome from Laurent the manager and his assistant, Omar. My husband and I relaxed right away in the authentically sumptuous surroundings, the spacious bedroom and a bathroom you could easily park 2 cars in! From the monogrammed linen to the delicious food (plates especially prepared for my vegan husband), from the jaw-dropping rooftop views of the Atlas Mountains to the bountiful breakfast served overlooking the immense swimming pool, we loved our stay and will certainly return! Staff went out of their way before and during our stay to accommodate our every request. Our favourite of the 3 hotels we stayed at in the Marrakech area. Thank you!

Loved our stay here. The hotel was traditional and had fabulous views. Our room was lovely and traditional style, although a bit dark sometimes to find anything. We had a guided tour when we arrived which was nice. Some of the tented rooms looked fabulous! The staff were wonderful, attentive, and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was an amazing spread with a lot of food! We loved not having a menu in the evening and the surprise of dinner each evening! The food was fabulous. The hotel was quiet while we were there which was just what we needed to relax, and before our next stop in the city. There is a yoga area and lovely lounge area where you can sit and read a book. Or sit by the pool and relax with towels provided. Will definitely stay here again when back in Marrakech.

Two owners and eople working at the hotel (especially Hamid and Bader) made us feel special and treated us like welcome family. Hotel has lot of local charm, romance and design and feels like you are in a story of '1001 nights'. Very warm stay!!

The staff was very kind and tried their best to help you/serve you. The place did had a charm and decoration was nice.

Cons: Poor value for money. Can’t call this a 5*. Website mentioned “heated pool”, the pool was ice cold. Great for Wim Hof training… We heard other guest wo went in say it was so cold it hurts. Location is not in Agafay desert but 20 min driving which costs 60€ (return). However when we took the transport the hotel wanted to charge us 80€ while communicating it would be 60€. You are closed in this oasis can’t go anywhere. Hotel charges ridiculous prices for activities. Website mentioned “bikes on site”, there are no bikes and they wanted to charge 150€ pp to bike… Regarding food they charge 35€ for lunch and 45€ for diner (excluding drinks) which is way too much for the quantity you get moreover the salads were filled with insects. They didn’t communicate a menu or the cost upfront but afterwards. As you’re located near nothing you have only the option to eat there or pay 60€ for the taxi somewhere in Agafay. We had to wait 1,5h for lunch. The shower is cold. Rooms are very dark. Heating wasn’t working… Pictures online look way nicer. The website and Instagram make you think it’s a nice yoga hotel with activities however everything is very expensive. I can go on…

Travelling, first time to Marrakech and with my son, we arrived late at night. The staff were welcoming even though we were so very late. The Berbers are known for their hospitality and it is one reason we have so fallen in love with Morocco, and try to visit the country every year; it’s really our love of the Berbers. So, when news struck of the earthquake, we were heartbroken. We had been due to visit the Asni area and our hotel had been damaged. Weweighed in our minds whether to cancel for fear of celebrating whilst the nation mourned, but on reflection we felt that it was important to spend our money in Morocco, to support the people that had always looked after us so well, so wee needed to find another hotel. And so it was that I chanced upon Kasbah Agafay. Organising the trip for a group of friends, I felt huge responsibility to find somewhere comfortable, with good food, friendly, relaxed and yet spoiling. We arrived hot and tired after a four hour drive (from our previous hotel in the Atlas - Agafay is only 30 mins from the airport) and were led to a charming table in the dappled shade of olive trees by the pool and soon appeared a delicious tagine and bottles of wine and our fraught edginess just melted away. One of my worries with booking so out of season was that the hotel would be empty and my fear was founded but instead of this feeling soulless and sad, it was quite the opposite, we had this beautiful characterful kasbah all to ourselves with our charming hosts Abel and Kenza to engage with and numerous charming staff to ply us with wine, teach us to cook tagines, book taxis to Marrakech, etc. With broken French we chatted to the staff (although many spoke very good English), only to hear all about their lives, the football club owning waiter with strong but mild tempered political views being a highlight. You really felt not just welcomed by the staff but like they were the most lovely people in the world. And none of this was unwanted or unwelcome. I’m sure if we hadn’t wanted to engage they wouldn’t have, so it wasn’t intrusive. The hotel is somewhat like an Escher painting (being empty we took delight in exploring) made up of separate Riads with rooms off a central courtyard, each Riad interlinking with the others. Every room is decorated uniquely and there isn’t a bad one. They are all colourful and exotically sultry, they are all well equipped and characterful. And the main reception rooms have many different areas to sit, read fascinating books, admire the antique emporium feel of the place, soak up the gentle peacefulness of the Berber culture. Unlike western hotels, we never once looked at a menu. The Agafay staff had asked out dietary requirements before we arrived and so food just arrived that never failed to delight. Whether it was breakfast lunch or supper, it was always traditional, delicious, unexpected and left us feeling healthy and well yet sumptuously cared for. As a foodie and a nutritional therapist, I don’t think I’d have been keen on this arrangement and yet the food they gave us was so utterly delicious, hearty enough for those with big appetites, yet healthy enough for those that care. In short, we waved goodbye to the Agafay staff with heavy hearts and yet, even now, a month later, feel we have made new friends, that we will undoubtedly see again, and that a little bit of the Agafay soul has been stitched into our hearts to draw us back again and again. The dream would be to fill the kasbah with all our friends for a true Moroccan house party. Let’s get saving…

I had the most amazing experience staying at this beautiful Kasbah in Marrakech. Everything was absolutely perfect. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning architecture and the warm hospitality of the staff. The attention to detail in every aspect of the Kasbah was truly impressive. The rooms were exquisitely decorated, combining traditional Moroccan elements with modern comfort. The views from my room were breathtaking, The food at the Kasbah Agafay was a culinary delight. Every meal was a feast for the senses, with a variety of traditional Moroccan dishes that were bursting with flavor. The staff was attentive and made sure that all my dietary preferences were taken care of. I also had the opportunity to indulge in the spa and wellness facilities at the Kasbah. The hammam and massages were incredibly relaxing, leaving me feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. But what truly made my stay memorable was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that my every need was met and that I felt like a valued guest throughout my stay. I cannot recommend this Kasbah enough. It truly exceeded all my expectations and provided me with an unforgettable experience. I will cherish the memories of my stay and I cannot wait to return in the future.

Kasbah Agafay is a truly peaceful retreat and as soon as you enter you feel like a VIP guest in a (very impressive!) private home. This was our 4th stay at the kasbah and although it has been recently (beautifully) refurbished it still retained the same Moroccan authenticity it has always had and it did not disappoint. It is close enough to Marrakesh to pop in if you want some hustle and bustle but once inside the kasbah gates it is completely Zen and with stunning views, you could be miles from anywhere. There are so many quiet little spots to eat, sip tea, have a massage and relax both inside and outside and the gardens and interior are so beautiful and well through. It feels like a total retreat. We ate in many restaurants and hotels throughout Marrakech and the food here was the best - fresh, beautifully cooked and presented and always served with a smile. Next time we come we are going to do one of the cooking classes and learn some of the chef's secrets! The Agafay desert camps nearby have quad biking, camel rides etc in case you get itchy feet but for us as a couple wanting a few days downtime it ticked all the boxes - comfy beds, cool quiet rooms, delicious food, genuinely lovely staff and peace and quiet. Thank you Abel, Kenza and all of your fabulous team - some of who have been with you for over 20 years which is a testament to how you run the kasbah and the very special ethos of the place. We will be back!

The staff and owner are so wonderful and attentive and the food here is fantastic - some of the best we ate in Morocco. Everyone we met was so friendly and welcoming went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. This is a beautiful and unique property - a nice reprieve from the city. It was a great place to come and relax. Ask Abel to play his amazing music!
